Urban Martial Saint

The scene fell silent for nearly half a minute, even the referee’s eyes were wide open, no one spoke, no one screamed, the room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

”Good!” Suddenly, a roaring voice shook the entire venue as a chubby man stood up first, clapping and cheering loudly.

With that, the whole place finally erupted, everyone was screaming, everyone was shouting, everyone was making sounds of disbelief. Who could have thought that Ye Qing, who seemed frail and unknown, appearing weak in front of the Prison Head, would have such an explosive power?

”Ye Qing! Ye Qing! Ye Qing!”

Someone shouted, and then everyone started shouting excitedly.

Audiences in these underground boxing rings are the most fickle, their adulation for the strong is their unchanging pursuit. When the Prison Head was strong, they worshipped him. Now that Ye Qing was dominating, they worshipped him, having completely forgotten how they had just been belittling Ye Qing.

The fall was quite severe, the Prison Head struggled several times before he finally got up, but his steps were staggering.

”Beat him! Beat him!”

”Kill him! Kill him!”

”Break his neck, scoop out his intestines!”

People were shouting, cheering for Ye Qing, eager for him to strike immediately.

However, Ye Qing didn’t strike, waiting until the Prison Head had straightened himself out before turning his head to look at the referee beside him and asking, ”Can we start now?”

”Huh?” The referee’s eyes widened as he said, ”We could have started long ago, you could have gone up and killed him directly just now and no one would have said anything, it was him who fouled by making the first move!”

”Trying to kill me? Impossible!” The Prison Head let out a loud roar, spreading his arms and dashing madly towards Ye Qing, preparing to lift him off the ground.

Ye Qing showed no intention of dodging, just slowly bending his body. Just as the Prison Head was about two meters away, suddenly he took a step forward, assuming a horse stance. Simultaneously, his right arm was raised, his right elbow fiercely thrust forward, striking right at the Prison Head’s chest.

With just one hit, the Prison Head was sent flying back instantly, as if hit by a truck, slamming into the wire mesh before stopping. His chest caved in, his ribs broken by Ye Qing’s blow and piercing straight into his heart. He spat out a few mouthfuls of fresh blood and eventually couldn’t hold on any longer, falling to the ground, breathless!

In a private room upstairs, a middle-aged man in his thirties or forties suddenly stood up, staring intently at the screen and said gravely, ”Baji Quan! Baji Quan! Baji Quan!”

”Baji Quan?” The short man beside him furrowed his brow, looking at Ye Qing on the screen and asked in a deep voice, ”Are you sure you’re not mistaken?”

”I’m not mistaken, it’s indeed Li Family Baji Quan!” the middle-aged man said through gritted teeth, his voice grave, ”Powerful and majestic, fiercely overwhelming. The shoulders sway, the sky shakes, the foot stomps, the Nine Provinces tremble. Back when Northern Fist spread to the South, it was led by Baji Quan, acclaimed as the supreme Northern boxing technique, terrifyingly powerful!”

The short man was amazed, ”Really? Isn’t Northern Fist best known for Xingyi, Eight Trigrams, and Tongbei? Baji Quan doesn’t seem to have much of a reputation!”

”What do you know?” the middle-aged man glanced at him, his voice still grave, ”Twenty years ago, Northern Fist revered only Baji. However, Baji Quan fell into decline after the Baji Gate’s Northern Fist King was defeated in a decisive battle between the Southern and Northern Fist twenty years ago.”

”That makes it sound like Baji Quan isn’t all that impressive!” the short man remarked skeptically, ”In front of our Southern Fist techniques, Baji or Xingyi or Eight Trigrams, none of them is effective.”

The middle-aged man ignored him, only saying gravely, ”And that battle also caused the Southern Fist King to vanish from sight for twenty years, unseen by anyone to this day!”

”What?” The short man was stunned, asking, ”Why?”

”I don’t know either.” The middle-aged man looked at Ye Qing on the screen, a sudden cold smile flashing across his face, ”Twenty years, and no disciple of Li Family Baji Quan has ever set foot in the South. And now, here comes such a man. Heh, it seems things are about to get lively. I wonder what the Xihang Shen Family will think when they hear this news?”

In the basement, the whole place fell back into a deathlike silence, even the referee forgot to announce Ye Qing’s victory.

Two moves! Just two moves! Last year’s semi-annual champion was killed by Ye Qing?

In fact, it could only be considered one move. The first move was the Prison Head’s sneak attack on Ye Qing, and the second move was Ye Qing’s active strike. The Prison Head, weighing one hundred eighty pounds and heavily muscled, extremely robust, yet was killed by a single elbow from Ye Qing. Such strength was against the heavens!

After a while, it was that chubby man who was the first to snap out of it. He took off his jacket, stood on a chair, and, waving his jacket around wildly, shouted, ”Ye Qing! Ye Qing! Ye Qing! Victory! Victory!

Victory!”

Looking at this guy, he seemed as excited as if he was at a World Cup match.

It’s not surprising, after all, Ye Qing had won him fifteen million, how could he not be thrilled and excited?

The fat man’s voice stirred the entire crowd, everyone stood up, and cheers and screams of excitement erupted. Although many had lost money, watching such a spectacular match excited them all, and everyone was screaming wildly.

”Incredible! Incredible! Just incredible!” the referee exclaimed using ’incredible’ three times to express his feelings, as he was too excited to know what to say.

”This...this could be said to be the most spectacular match I’ve ever seen in my lifetime!” the referee’s voice trembled, ”I just checked, the match lasted less than a minute. The two contestants only clashed twice, and one contestant was killed. This...this could apply for a world record!”

The referee looked at the crowd and said, ”Now, no one suspects the match was fixed, right?”

”No!” almost everyone shouted in unison, Ye Qing’s strength had proven everything. Who would fake a match in such a battle of life and death? Moreover, to strike the opponent dead in one move and send a man weighing two hundred seventy-six pounds flying so far, that’s impossible to fake. That’s the true demonstration of power.

Upstairs, the Tiger King’s expression turned colder, and his estimation of Ye Qing went up another level.

”Change the odds, make it 1.2 to 1 for Ye Qing!” Tiger King said in a deep voice.

A subordinate said, ”Big Brother, we might lose a lot of money in the coming matches.”

”No matter, without sacrificing a little, how are we going to make a big fortune?” Tiger King sneered, ”Raise his opponents’ odds. There will always be greedy people wanting to try their luck, and we won’t lose much!”

The third match started quickly, and this time a newcomer went on stage. Having witnessed Ye Qing’s skills just now, the audience had already determined that Ye Qing would win. So, even though the newcomer had an odds of ten to one, most people still betted on Ye Qing to win.

Yet, fifty thousand dollars was still placed on the newcomer, as there were always people wanting to find a loophole like the fat man, hoping the newcomer could bring a surprise.

As one can imagine, the newcomer was defeated by Ye Qing in less than thirty seconds, making the third victory effortlessly easy.

Actually, for the first fifteen matches, Tiger King had arranged weak opponents for Ye Qing. In earlier matches, nearly everyone bet on Ye Qing to win, but since Ye Qing’s odds were low, people didn’t make much money.

Starting from the tenth match, people gradually began to change their bets, gradually starting to bet on Ye Qing’s opponents. After all, Ye Qing had already won ten consecutive matches, which was shocking enough. Even though Ye Qing’s strength was terrifying, winning ten matches without getting hit, the exhaustion was considerable. In a marathon match scenario, who could last that long?

So, many betted on Ye Qing’s opponent, hoping to make a big fortune.

As one can imagine, Ye Qing continued to dominate up till the fifteenth match, and by then, half of the people had switched to bet on Ye Qing’s opponents, and Tiger King began to rake in a huge profit.

The fifteen consecutive victories also made the venue extremely lively. In this Underground Boxing Ring, the strongest record was set by the overall champion two years ago, who won twenty-one consecutive matches, and since then, no one had surpassed thirteen matches. With Ye Qing winning fifteen matches, people were excited and even began betting whether he could break the previous record!

In the Tiger King’s room, an excited subordinate was tallying the data, ”Big Brother, so far, we have made fifty million. If this continues, as long as he wins twenty matches, we could probably make a hundred million!”

An icy smile appeared on Tiger King’s face as he said, ”Open another betting pool, betting on whether he can break the record!”

”Yes!” The subordinate was extremely excited. Now that everyone was discussing this topic, opening this betting pool would definitely make another fortune. Moreover, many preferred to put their money in this betting pool, as many were looking forward to Ye Qing breaking that record and seeing just how far he could go.

At the same time, at a highway exit in Shenchuan City, a black sedan shot out like a wild horse that had broken free. The driver, a man in his thirties, controlled the car like the most agile wild horse, darting through the traffic without slowing down.

In the passenger seat sat a man not taller than four feet—his stature resembling that of a primary school student, though his face was unmistakably that of a thirty-year-old adult. Despite his short and stocky build, his clothes were bulging, and his well-defined muscles were faintly visible.

This was a dwarf, but unlike other dwarfs with frail bodies, he was terrifyingly muscular. For someone of his stature to develop such muscles was much more difficult than for an average person.

Suddenly, the mobile phone placed in front vibrated. The driver hastily picked up the call, and after a few words, he put the phone back and turned to the dwarf, whispering, ”He’s not at home, went to Chen Hu’s Dog Field, Chen Hu is threatening him to fight.”

”Go to the Dog Field,” replied the dwarf decisively.

The man turned the car around and headed to the Southern Suburb. Nonetheless, he seemed a bit uneasy still and whispered, ”Should we call up some people? Chen Hu is a madman, you can’t predict his actions by normal standards.”

”No need!” the dwarf replied resolutely, while secretly glancing back as if afraid of alerting someone behind him.

On the back seat, one could faintly see an exquisitely delicate, tremblingly pale hand.
