The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

At this moment, Mianmian was also quite enthusiastic, telling Shu Yu about the Xiang Family’s environment, ”...The yard is bigger than ours, but, but not as big as Father’s academy...”

The little one lay on Shu Yu’s lap, looking up with her little head and said, ”Mother, Brother Doudou says the Imperial Palace is even bigger. Can we go see it?”

Shu Yu, ”...”

She thought for a moment, ”If you want to go, ask your father. He will be going to the palace tomorrow, and if the Emperor agrees, you can ask your father to take you.”

”Okay.” Little Mianmian’s eyes brightened as she straightened up and pulled Huohuo’s hand, ”Brother should come too.”

”Ask your father.” Shu Yu, like a shopkeeper who didn’t want to bother with tasks, threw all the troubles to the father.

Riding a horse at the edge of the carriage, Meng Yunzheng heard the conversation inside and helplessly smiled.

There would definitely be no issue going; the Emperor had long asked him to bring his daughter to the palace for a look.

But there was no rush; there was still time.

When the family returned to the inn, except for Mr. Hejiang who went to visit friends, everyone else had returned.

Wei Qin bought quite a few things and seemed to be a bit nervous.

She hadn’t seen Aunt Hong for a long time, and Aunt Hong had taken great care of her back then. After returning from the southwest, Shu Yu had informed Aunt Hong when the caravan was delivering goods to the capital.

In recent years, when Song Le wrote to Aunt Hong, Wei Qin would say a few words too.

Even so, she was still nervous, and thus ended up buying more things.

Song Le was quite helpless; in that situation at Aunt’s home, buying more things meant they would eventually end up in other people’s hands.

That was what he thought, but seeing his mother acting that way, he didn’t stop her.

Early the next day, Meng Yunzheng went to the palace, Wei Qin and Song Le went to the Hong Family, Yuan Gui took Kang Shuxian shopping, while the other scholars... went to Lu’s.

They had long heard that Lu’s second floor housed two paintings by Mr. Shanju, which had become a famous spot for scholars to visit.

Unfortunately, they were far away in Dongan Province and had no chance to see them.

Now that they were in the capital, they definitely should go appreciate Mr. Shanju’s paintings depicting the scenery of their academy. They wanted to see what the academy and the sunflower field they saw daily looked like under Mr. Shanju’s brush.

Watching everyone discuss and head out together to Lu’s, Shu Yu couldn’t help but glance back at the calm Meng Yunzheng, as if feeling silently sympathetic for these unsuspecting students.

After most of them left, Shu Yu finally took the two children onto the carriage and directly headed to the Yao Family.

Madam Yao had been waiting early and was delighted to see the two children.

”You finally came, this must be Mianmian, she looks so beautiful. And Huohuo, haven’t seen you for years, you’ve grown so tall.”

The two children sweetly greeted her, making Madam Yao quite happy, and she gave each a big red envelope.

Then, holding one in each hand, she cheerfully led them into the house.

While walking, Madam Yao chatted with Shu Yu, ”Ever since Mumu went away with their parents, this house has been quite lonely. I often think I might as well go find them, but then I think of Uncle Yao being home alone and can’t bear it. Oh, if only I hadn’t listened to Uncle Yao and kept Yao Po and the others in the capital.”

”Uncle Yao was thinking about Brother Yao, after all. Going out to gain experience is never wrong. After a few more years, once he has gained enough experience, with some effort, they can return.”

Madam Yao sighed, ”Let’s hope they can come back.”
