The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

As soon as the convoy entered the city, Shu Yu heard a familiar voice.

”Yu.”

She lifted her eyes and saw a young woman standing in front of a carriage not far away, holding the hand of a little boy.

Shu Yu smiled, it had been over four years since she last saw Xiao Ruojun.

She got off the carriage and walked towards them with large strides.

Xiao Ruojun beamed and quickly took two steps forward with her son.

”Sister-in-law, long time no see.”

”Indeed, you haven’t changed a bit.”

”Neither have you,” Shu Yu said, lowering her gaze to the little boy beside her, ”Is this Doudou?”

Upon hearing his nickname, Doudou’s chubby little face tensed for a moment but quickly relaxed, and he looked up and politely said, ”Hello, Aunt Lu.”

After greeting, he looked behind Shu Yu.

It’s strange, didn’t Mother say that Aunt Lu would bring Mianmian along?

Though Doudou had never met Mianmian, Uncle Meng had sent a letter to his father, full of bragging about his adorable and well-behaved daughter, including a picture of Little Mianmian.

So why didn’t he see her now?

Xiao Ruojun noticed too and looked around before asking in surprise, ”Where’s your little girl?”

Shu Yu spoke helplessly, ”Oh, she played too wildly with Huohuo on the way, and just before entering the city got too tired, so both kids are asleep now.”

”Is that so?” Xiao Ruojun, curious, went to their carriage, glanced inside through the curtain, and indeed saw the two children sleeping soundly together.

Doudou stood on tiptoe, but he was too short, so he gave up.

Fortunately, Xiao Ruojun quickly whispered to Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng, ”Come on, let’s go home for a meal. My husband was supposed to come meet you, but he didn’t know what time you’d enter the city, and he’s very busy, so he had to go do some work. But he repeatedly instructed me to bring you home, as we’ve prepared dinner to welcome you. We haven’t seen you in four years, and my husband and I really miss you.”

This time, the two did not refuse, ”Sure.”

Shu Yu instructed Yuan Gui to take the convoy to unload first and return to the inn early to rest.

Xiao Ruojun had also invited Mr. Hejiang, but he waved his hand, saying he was even busier than Meng Yunzheng upon arriving in the capital, ”I still have to meet two old friends soon, so I won’t impose.”

As for Song Le and Wei Qin, they wanted to return to the inn first and buy some things later, as they planned to visit Aunt Hong’s house the next day.

So, in the end, only Meng Yunzheng and the others headed to the Xiang Family’s home.

Xiao Ruojun returned to the carriage with her son, surprisingly finding that her usually little adult-like son seemed unusually exuberant today.

”Doudou, are you in a good mood today?”

Doudou was just over a year older than Mianmian, turning four this year. He had inherited the best features of his parents, looking both exquisite and handsome.

Yet, his personality was unusually mature, even when Xiang Weinan took him to see the Emperor, he remained calm, much to the Emperor’s fascination.

Xiang Weinan and Xiao Ruojun found it odd since neither of them was particularly staid, yet their son seemed to take after someone else entirely.

Today was one of the rare times Xiao Ruojun saw Doudou show such an expression.

Doudou slightly pressed down the corners of his mouth, ”I’m in a good mood every day.”
