The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Mianmian chuckled, ”Daddy, are there any other stamps?”

Meng Yunzheng, ”...” Are you planning to cover the entire drawing with stamps?

He certainly has more stamps, but they’re all in the academy.

Mr. Shanju’s stamp, which he rarely uses now, is kept at home, while he carries a private stamp with him.

Meng Yunzheng shook his head, ”There’s none here.”

”What a pity.” Mianmian sighed, yet felt incredibly pleased when looking at her artwork, and carefully rolled it up after the ink dried.

Just as she finished rolling it up, Xia Yan’s voice sounded from outside, ”Sir, miss, it’s time for lunch.”

Little Mianmian immediately jumped up, ”Let’s go, let’s eat, I also need to visit Great Grandmother for a nap.”

As father and daughter walked hand in hand to the flower hall, Shu Yu was already there.

She seemed in a good mood, and Little Mianmian wasted no time hugging her leg, ”Mommy, did you miss Mianmian?”

”...Yes.” It’s only been three hours, what’s this talk about missing?

Mianmian was extremely happy, ”I missed Mommy too, a lot, a lot, a lot of times.”

”Hahaha, did Mianmian miss Grandpa?” Meng Pei stepped in from outside, lifted the little one up and tossed her into the air.

Little Mianmian screamed excitedly, ”Higher, go higher.”

Grandfather and granddaughter played for a while before Meng Yunzheng pulled them to sit down for the meal.

Meng Pei loved to hold the warm little one, wishing he could feed her, give her water, and wipe her mouth at every meal. But Shu Yu, as the child’s mother, insisted on letting her eat by herself at the table.

Meng Pei reluctantly placed the little one on the dining table, tied a bib on her, and let her enjoy eating with a spoon.

Little Mianmian, who played all morning, was now focused on the meal.

The other three took this chance to discuss their plans moving forward.

Meng Pei looked at Meng Yunzheng, ”Has the date to go to the capital been set?”

”It’s been set, we’ll depart in three days.”

Meng Yunzheng is going to the capital to attend the Scripture Reading lecture hosted by the Emperor.

Scripture Reading is the special palace lecture the Emperor set up to discuss classical texts and history, marking the first such lecture since His Majesty ascended the throne, with Imperial Teacher Zhang Mao as the main speaker.

This Scripture Reading not only invites renowned scholars and great scholars from Dasi but also invites Mountain Masters from various academies.

As the Mountain Master of the flourishing Zhenglu Academy, Meng Yunzheng was naturally among those invited.

Besides him, two great scholars from the academy were also invited. However, only Mr. Hejiang, whom the Emperor was more familiar with, would go; Mr. Huai’an stayed behind to oversee.

The Zhenglu Academy is not what it once was; last year marked three years of collaboration between the Emperor and Meng Yunzheng.

At that time, only fifteen students from the academy went to the capital to take the Imperial Examination. Among these, half had only stayed at the academy for six months.

Yet, the exam results shocked everyone; aside from five whose previous local exam scores had been poor and three who were merely gaining experience, the remaining seven all passed.

Among them, five were in the second rank, which was more than the number set by the Emperor.

The results caused a sensation across the capital, rapidly spreading through the academic world.

Originally, Meng Yunzheng was summoned to the capital by imperial decree after the results of the palace examination came out.

However, with many scholars rushing to join in, Zhenglu Academy suddenly became busy. Meng Yunzheng couldn’t leave at the time, and it has been postponed until now.
