The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Soft voices come to her ears, Shu Yu straightens halfway up, and sees two silhouettes seated beyond the beaded curtain, Ying Xi and Shuyou.

Ying Xi is folding clothes, while Shuyou is working on some needlework.

Maybe hearing some movement, Ying Xi turns her head and sees Shu Yu sitting up.

She quickly puts down what she’s holding and enters the inner room, ”Miss, you’re awake?”

Shu Yu takes a sip of tea and walks out slowly, ”What hour is it?”

”It’s 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.” Shuyou smiles and pulls her to sit down, ”You missed dinner, Mother had the kitchen keep it warm. Ying Xi will bring it over to you.”

”Okay.”

Once Ying Xi leaves, Shu Yu asks, ”Sis, what are you doing?”

”Making little clothes for the baby in your belly.” She smiles and raises her hand, ”Your handiwork can only manage a crooked pouch. I’ll have to make the baby clothes later.”

She then points to the little clothes Ying Xi had folded on the table, ”These few pieces were worn by Huohuo, I brought them over for you.”

The clothes worn by little children are soft and comfortable, especially since Shuyou runs a ready-to-wear clothes shop, the fabric of these clothes is even better.

”Before, when Sister Cuihua and Lanhua had their babies, Eldest Aunt asked me for quite a few pieces. I didn’t give all of them to her, specifically saved some for you.”

Madam Li would have preferred Shu You to give them all to her, even though Little Zaozao’s clothes are still around, and the small wrap of Cuihua’s eldest son Lai Yuan is still kept. But Madam Li knows very well, although Zaozao’s clothes are better than before, they surely don’t compare to Little Huohuo’s.

The fabric for this child’s clothes was bought by Zhao Xi in the prefecture or even further places, you wouldn’t believe how comfortable they feel to the touch.

Fortunately, there is plenty of Little Huohuo’s clothes, Shu You will definitely leave some for her own younger sister.

”Thanks, Sis.” Speaking of this, Shu Yu suddenly remembers, ”Have Cuihua and Lanhua already given birth?”

”Yes, they both have. Cuihua had a son, and Lanhua a daughter. The two were born just five days apart, both were early deliveries. Counting days, Cuihua has already finished her confinement, and Lanhua’s confinement ends right on Lunar New Year’s Eve, which is in two days. Grandmother even said these two babies are sensible. They didn’t keep their mothers cooped up in the house over the New Year, otherwise, they couldn’t go out during the festivities.”

As Shuyou continues to sew the clothes, she talks about the recent happenings in the family, ”Sister Cuihua’s husband really wanted a daughter, after all, they already have Ayuan. If they have a daughter too, it would be perfect with both sons and daughters. Eldest Aunt secretly said, if their children’s genders were swapped, that would be perfect, Grandmother heard this and scolded her severely.”

Yet, if you ask Shu Yu, the one most relieved by Lanhua having a daughter is Sister-in-law Zhou Qiao.

If Lanhua had also born a son, Eldest Aunt would surely say Zhou Qiao isn’t doing a good job.

”Grandmother said it’s fortunate that Cuihua and Daniu can hold their ground against Eldest Aunt, otherwise if Eldest Aunt’s life is good now, she would certainly stir up some trouble.”

Shu Yu laughs, ”Cuihua and Daniu both have their own minds, with them there’s no need to worry about her making a fuss. Lanhua’s husband, although gentle in nature, has a fierce appearance, Eldest Aunt is afraid of him, so she doesn’t dare cause any trouble. Now, it’s all up to Erniu.”

”Hahaha.” Shuyou chuckles, ”That’s why Grandmother said she must be in charge of Erniu’s marriage, find a wife who can restrain Eldest Aunt, and then the four siblings of Eldest Uncle’s family will have peace.”
