The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 994: Chapter 994: The Scars on Hua Xian’s Body

So after the division, Ms. Mei, under Ding Yuehua’s urging, gave them ten thousand and eleven taels.

As for the other half, Ms. Mei refused to give it. She said it wasn’t solely her responsibility; Lu Sanzhu had mismanaged the kiln, and the small foreman under Third Young Master Fan carelessly left things unsecured, so they all should share the blame.

Third Young Master Fan couldn’t be bothered to argue with her. The family division was already settled, the goal achieved—dragging it out further might only complicate matters.

Besides, the extra ten thousand and eleven taels were still a significant sum, weren’t they?

And the blueprints—Third Young Master Fan really recreated the shape of that latrine pit purely from memory.

Today, Ding Yuehua had come over specifically to show her the blueprints. Currently, they were in Lu Erbai’s hands for review, and if there were any mistakes, they could adjust them before starting production.

This time, Third Young Master Fan personally supervised to ensure the blueprints wouldn’t be destroyed again.

With this, the matter of the blueprints was resolved. Shu Yu only had to wait a couple of extra days to receive the goods and didn’t actually suffer any loss.

Still, she felt somewhat guilty accepting that horse as compensation.

But Ding Yuehua was firm, ”The decision’s already made, so don’t argue with me. I’m busy right now.”

”Busy with what?”

”House hunting,” Ding Yuehua said. ”Now that the family’s split up, we obviously have to move out of that house. So I’ve been looking for a suitable place, and I want to find one here on Fenghuai Street so we’ll be close to you.”

”You’re not even considering staying closer to your mother’s family?”

Ding Yuehua chuckled, ”If I stay too close to my family, I’m afraid my husband won’t feel comfortable. Fenghuai Street isn’t far from the Ding family either, so I can visit anytime I want. But there’s one thing I’m a bit unsure about.”

Shu Yu grew curious. Seeing Yuehua was tired from walking around, they stepped into a room, and Shu Yu sat down to rest for a bit.

Ding Yuehua continued, ”You know, the Old Mrs. Fan—our grandmother—is living on the manor.”

Shu Yu nodded. Hua Xian used to take care of her.

”Now that Grandmother knows we’ve divided the family, she wants to move back in and live with us. The old lady’s getting on in years and wants to enjoy the warmth of family, and I can’t bear to reject her. She didn’t get along with my mother-in-law before, which is why she lived separately. But honestly, I don’t really want to add another person to the household.”

She seemed quite torn.

However, Shu Yu’s expression gradually turned cold.

Ding Yuehua noticed this and immediately grew uneasy. ”It’s not that I’m unfilial, it’s just that...”

She knew the atmosphere in Shu Yu’s family was good, and Yu was especially close with her grandmother, so she figured Yu wouldn’t approve of her attitude.

But Shu Yu gently placed her hand over Yuehua’s and said quietly, ”Do you want my opinion? If you do, I think Old Mrs. Fan should stay at the manor.”

”Eh? Wh-what?” Ding Yuehua looked up in astonishment. ”Why?”

Shu Yu fell silent for a moment before beginning to speak slowly, ”I’ve been debating whether or not to tell you this, but I didn’t expect your family’s old lady would move so quickly to make plans. Yuehua, Hua Xian used to care for your grandmother, right?”

”Yes.”

”Lately, Hua Xian has been staying with my grandmother. With more time around her, my grandmother accidentally noticed that Hua Xian has a lot of old scars—marks from being pinched, beaten, even burned.”

”What?!” Ding Yuehua shot to her feet, her face filled with disbelief.

Shu Yu nodded gravely. ”You said Hua Xian was always serving Old Mrs. Fan closely, right? Who else would dare leave those kinds of marks on her? Even if someone had bullied her, there’s no way the old lady wouldn’t know after all these years, don’t you think?”
