The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 974: Chapter 974 Detailed Contract

Ms. Guo was stunned, her whole body numb.

When Jiang Kuanyu finished reading, she stared at Shu Yu, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, is everything written here true?”

The document not only clearly outlined their wages but also mentioned that, due to the inconvenience of traveling to the prefecture, there would be a dedicated person to help purchase grain every month if needed.

It even detailed how much would be deducted for taking a day off, how much more would be deducted for missing work without reason, but if one were sick, only a half-day’s wages would be deducted.

Of course, it also demanded that they maintain confidentiality about the boss and matters related to land cultivation; otherwise, they would be sent to the Office for accountability.

Ms. Guo felt that none of these conditions were a problem.

After receiving Shu Yu’s confirmation, she immediately ran out excitedly to share the news with the others.

The tenants outside were skeptical, wondering if there could truly be a landlord who treated long-term workers and tenants so well during these times. Were they being fooled?

Shu Yu pointed to Jiang Kuanyu beside him, ”With Young Master Jiang as my witness, I would certainly not deceive you.”

Trusting her, Ms. Guo was the first to step forward, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, what do you think of me? I’d like to sign the contract.”

Shu Yu smiled, ”Don’t rush, one at a time. I’ve answered all your questions earlier; now, it’s my turn to ask.”

Shu Yu began recruiting workers. After all, it was farming, and for some specialized matters, Daniu had to assist.

It didn’t take long; after working for a couple of hours, they were pretty much done asking questions.

From twenty households, even the smallest family recruited at least one worker, while the largest recruited four.

For those recruiting one worker, it wasn’t a big deal, but the household recruiting four workers seemed ecstatic.

Four workers meant four wages. With six hundred coins per person, their family would earn two taels and four qian a month.

With this income, they could soon save enough to renovate their house and afford better food each month. Just thinking about it made them excited.

The others looked at them with envy.

Shu Yu recruited a total of twenty-seven workers. Naturally, not all of them were responsible for farming; two of them would work around the manor. Otherwise, Daniu and his wife alone wouldn’t be enough to manage such a large manor.

Once the recruitment was finalized, it was time to assign tasks.

Daniu was put in charge of this. It was his first time serving as the Village Chief, and facing over twenty people, he was understandably a bit nervous.

Fortunately, Shu Yu was by his side to encourage him, and he had rehearsed his instructions in his mind numerous times. With some effort, he managed to maintain his composure and delegate tasks effectively.

Before planting could begin, the soil had to be loosened first.

Given that the current seeds were only enough for around twenty mu of land, Daniu first went out to designate an area, clearing out that piece of land while the rest would be used for planting other crops.

By the time everything was done, it was almost evening. Only then did Shu Yu and Daniu set off together to return to town.

Jiang Kuanyu had accompanied her, as he had promised to take care of the Cui family’s funeral arrangements before leaving, and he intended to keep that promise.

Uncle Cui’s body had already been brought back to the Office. With Xiang Weinan’s efficient handling and the case being straightforward, the matter would likely be concluded by tomorrow at the latest.

Jiang Kuanyu lived in the prefecture and had only been staying at the manor for two days.

Tonight, he planned to stay in Jiangyuan County for the night and take Uncle Cui’s remains back for proper burial tomorrow.

Shu Yu accompanied him into town. Jiang Kuanyu wanted to visit Little Ya’er first, so the two carriages headed straight for Liufang Alley.

However, since Shu Yu and Jiang Kuanyu’s relationship was merely cordial, it wouldn’t be appropriate to take him directly to the Meng family. Thus, she invited him to her house to sit for a while and have some tea while she visited the Meng family first.

To her surprise, as soon as she entered her house, the old lady said Little Ya’er was in the room.
