The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 982: Chapter 982 Monarch Lu Xiang is too rude

The matter concerned her own family, so Shu Yu was naturally unable to sit still.

She immediately wanted to follow and take a look. Kong Zhiyou hesitated for a moment and quickly pulled her back, ”Monarch Lu Xiang, this is the Fan family’s internal affair. It’s inappropriate for us to interfere.”

No, this wasn’t solely a matter for the Fan family. If the blueprint truly stemmed from her, she absolutely needed to see for herself.

”Yuehua might be in trouble. I’ll go check and come right back.”

Shu Yu couldn’t wait any longer. With a quick motion, she freed herself and ran out. Ying Xi followed her immediately.

Kong Zhiyou could only watch her back as she stomped her foot, ”Why did she actually go?”

She took a couple of steps toward the door, but then stopped again, ultimately returning to her original seat to wait.

The Xilan Garden was left with only her, her maid Qiuju, and a few old women guarding the entrance.

With no outsiders around, Qiuju couldn’t help but whisper, ”Miss, why is this Monarch Lu Xiang so inconsiderate? How can she knowingly go and inspect when something unpleasant is happening in another’s household?”

Kong Zhiyou glared at her, ”Stop spouting nonsense.” She sighed, ”You need to have some empathy for her. Monarch Lu Xiang used to be a farmer’s daughter. You know how the countryside is – wherever there’s a commotion, those gossipy women flock there, eager to watch others’ misfortunes. There’s no such thing as propriety. She still has some habits she hasn’t adapted to. After all, she is now a monarch, and her identity is different. Surrounded by friends like us, she’ll naturally change over time.”

After saying this, she warned Qiuju again, ”In the future, don’t say anything about someone being inconsiderate. Don’t forget that your young mistress relied heavily on her help back then. I’m genuinely interested in forging a closer relationship with her. If something like this happens again in the future, and she doesn’t understand the rules, I’ll stop her and advise her. Monarch Lu Xiang is sharp. She’ll figure it out quickly.”

Qiuju pursed her lips and kept silent.

Still, she felt that after spending some time together today, Miss had been intentionally or unintentionally trying to become closer to Monarch Lu Xiang.

Yet Monarch Lu Xiang didn’t seem to reciprocate any warmth. Even her maid, Ying Xi, acted coldly toward others, as if she didn’t care.

She had asked two questions, and Ying Xi had answered only those two questions, never once initiating conversation.

What was so special about them? Did they truly think that becoming a monarch meant soaring to great heights? Her family’s young gentleman would surely pass the provincial exams in two years and become a scholar, eventually securing an official position. Miss would then be an official’s wife, which was far more distinguished than being a monarch of a small place.

Kong Zhiyou was entirely unaware of her maid’s thoughts as she sat alone in the living room, feeling quite bored.

Considering what was happening in the Fan family, it was likely that Ding Yuehua would directly confront the Eldest Young Mistress of the Fan family. Resolving this wouldn’t be quick.

She couldn’t possibly stay here and wait to see the outcome, could she? That would be terribly inappropriate.

So, after sitting for a while longer and not seeing Ding Yuehua or Shu Yu return, she got up to bid farewell.

When she reached the entrance of Xilan Garden, she turned her head slightly toward the direction of the main house but heard nothing. Shaking her head, she left the Fan family estate.

Meanwhile, Shu Yu had long followed Ding Yuehua, entering Beiqing Garden where the Fan family’s main residence was located.

As usual, there was an old woman guarding the door. However, when Ding Yuehua had rushed in earlier, the old woman had panicked and chased after her.

This proved convenient for Shu Yu. With no one watching outside, she lifted her foot and followed into the courtyard.
