The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 970: Chapter 970: Sharing the Profits

Zhou Qiao didn’t really want to buy a house in the county town. Firstly, they truly didn’t have the money in hand, and secondly, they didn’t even live there.

If they bought the house but didn’t live in it, her mother-in-law would surely be eager to move in.

When the day comes that they want to move back, it might not even feel like their house anymore.

They might end up working hard to pay off the debt, only to find the house unused by them for even a day.

So she also didn’t advocate for buying the house. Right now, she was more surprised by Third Uncle’s decision. ”Daniu, do you think Third Uncle and Aunt have stashed away a lot of money?”

Daniu thought about it for a moment, then shook his head. ”Probably not much. Most of the money came from a loan from Yu. I think it’s likely because Third Uncle has a stable job, coupled with Dabao attending school nearby, and Third Uncle and Aunt not planning to go back to farming. That’s why they decided to buy the house.”

Unlike him, who doesn’t even know if he’ll live in the county town in the future.

Zhou Qiao nodded. ”True, Third Uncle’s situation is different from ours.”

The couple was discussing Lu Sanzhu buying a house, and at the same time, in Liufang Alley, the old lady was asking Shu Yu, ”Do you know where the house Old Third bought is located?”

Shu Yu had just returned. After dropping off Lu Sanzhu, she stopped by the big mansion to talk to Liang Wangsheng about Li Xiaoshan.

Liang Wangsheng was surprised to learn that the man who had been missing for two months had been killed when news finally surfaced.

He immediately felt it was deserved—evil deeds are met with evil outcomes.

By coincidence, Ying Xi had returned as well, which meant Hu Li and the officers had brought the criminal and two victims back to the county office. Shu Yu asked Ying Xi to accompany Liang Wangsheng to the office to identify the people.

Lu Erbai wasn’t at the mansion since he seemed to have gone out on some errand. Shu Yu drove the mule carriage herself to return.

As soon as she arrived, the old lady began asking about the house.

Shu Yu didn’t stay south of the city for long. After dropping people off, she didn’t linger, so naturally, she hadn’t found out where Third Uncle’s house was being purchased.

However...

”I guess it’s probably somewhere nearby. That area is close to Peach Blossom Forest, just a few steps from Dabao’s private school, and they’ve been living there for so long that they’re already familiar with everything in the surrounding area.”

The old lady thought it made sense. She then turned to ask about Daniu, ”If your Third Uncle bought a house, do you think Daniu would also want to buy one?”

”I already talked to Brother Daniu about it and even offered to lend him money, but he refused.”

Shu Yu said this while noticing the old lady frowning, looking distressed. She figured it was because the old lady knew property prices in Jiangyuan County would rise in the future and felt they’d lose out on hundreds of thousands by not buying now.

She couldn’t help but chuckle and sat down beside the old lady, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. ”Grandmother, if Brother Daniu doesn’t buy now, then let him purchase one in the prefecture later when he has money.”

The old lady couldn’t help but glance at her and said, ”The prefecture? Isn’t the housing there even more expensive? With the little money Daniu has, how can he possibly afford it?”

”That might not be the case. If Brother Daniu works with me in the future, I certainly wouldn’t shortchange him, right?”

What Shu Yu didn’t mention was that the sunflower seeds were something she and Daniu discovered together. The initial cultivation had been entirely handled by him. When it came to this, Daniu had devoted even more effort than her.

The two of them were essentially splitting contributions—she provided the funds, while he contributed the expertise. So when the sunflowers yield a harvest, Shu Yu planned to give him a share. It wouldn’t be fair to treat it like before when he helped watch the shop and only got shopkeeper wages in return.

Brother Daniu was honest and diligent, always running around without asking for anything in return, but Shu Yu couldn’t take advantage of him, could she?

The old lady held Shu Yu’s hand and said, ”But you shouldn’t let yourself lose out either.”
