Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 188: Chapter 176: The Gift is a Stone???

Bai Yixian was taken aback and looked at Luo Qianqian with a perplexed expression, then sighed, ”It wasn’t me, someone else brought it.”

Luo Qianqian understood immediately, but wisely didn’t ask aloud.

”What’s this?” Luo Shufan opened the suitcase and looked at the two large stones in the suitcase, completely baffled.

Luo Qianqian was startled, then her eyes lit up. If the small box contained jadeite, then these stones must be raw stones, jadeite raw stones.

”Raw stones?” Luo Qianqian looked at the stones and hurried forward to take a closer look. She had heard about them in her previous life but had never seen one, nor did they look special, just two rather large stones.

Bai Yixian nodded, ”Yes, these pieces were favoured by a senior Bowei, so I bought them as gifts. They didn’t cost much, and they haven’t been cut yet.”

Luo Shufan arched an eyebrow, feeling his sister knew too much, ”Aren’t the raw stones from Xin Province better? Xin Province has Hetian jade.”

”That’s in Huaxia.” Luo Qianqian pouted, ”Hurry up and put them under the bed, so nobody steals them.”

”Even so, they’re not as nice as the one on your neck.” Luo Shufan muttered but dragged the two suitcases to his room anyway and shoved them under the bed. As long as his sister liked them, he’d keep even junk.

Luo Qianqian realized, the piece hanging on her neck was a gift from grandma.

”Nonsense.” Bai Yixian said in a low voice, turning his face away, not looking at Luo Shufan, afraid he’d be annoyed to death by this annoying boy. Boys his age were just so irritating, just like his own younger brother.

”I want this one.” Luo Qianqian picked up a three-dimensional jade pendant in the shape of an eight-treasure gourd, ”Give it to Brother Lin, to thank Brother Lin for saving my brother.” Luo Qianqian said with a beaming smile.

”Me?” Lin Jiayou was flabbergasted as he looked at Luo Qianqian. Even though he lived in this house, he wasn’t their blood relative, he had not expected Luo Qianqian to do this.

”Give it away.” Luo Shufan rolled his eyes after putting away the suitcases, ”I should be the one giving gifts, not you.” He said, taking the gourd from his sister’s hand and handing it to Lin Jiayou.

Lin Jiayou still didn’t take it as it seemed inappropriate to re-gift something given to the siblings.

”Can you pretend I don’t exist?” Bai Yixian touched his nose, ”I already said each of you pick a box.”

”Is there one for me?” Lin Jiayou was stunned.

”There’s a lot brought back, pick whatever you like, I’m going to sleep for a bit. Make me some food later.” Bai Yixian gestured and leaned towards the sofa.

”Go sleep in a bedroom, don’t catch a cold.” Luo Qianqian frowned and pulled up the blanket, ”Brother will cook later, don’t let it disturb you. Sleep in brother’s room.”

”Alright.” Bai Yixian followed Luo Qianqian into Luo Shufan’s room, lay down on the lower bunk, and Luo Qianqian covered him with a quilt before closing the door.

”Brother Lin, you keep it, don’t be polite with him. He said he’s prepared enough,” Luo Qianqian said as she opened those boxes, picking out a green jade bracelet, ”I want this one to give to mom as a wedding gift.”

”You’re so cunning.” Luo Shufan hurriedly opened a box, looked left and right, ”Actually, this one looks nicer.” He picked out a red jade bracelet, ”I’ll give this one, to mom as part of her dowry.” He said, covering his mouth to snigger.

As Lin Jiayou was about to put back the jade pendant to pick something for Luo’s mom, Luo Shufan stopped him, ”Let’s consider it a joint gift from us, you keep it. Sister said jade nourishes people, we both have ours now. When we have time, we’ll buy another piece to give to Uncle Lin.”

”Keep it, it’s for your protection, you can’t refuse,” Luo Qianqian also urged.

Lin Jiayou thought about it and accepted it, after all, it was the thought that counted from both of them. If it hadn’t been for Bai Yixian stepping in at the last minute, these two were planning to use their own shares to help him get the jade pendant. Even though Bai Yixian eventually spoke up, in his eyes, it was still the effect of the Luo siblings that made it happen.

”I’ll put it in Mom’s room, let’s keep it a secret.” Luo Qianqian stacked the box in her hands on top of the box Luo Shufan was holding, went into Luo’s Mom’s room, hid the boxes under the dressing table in a small cabinet, and even camouflaged it with a tissue box before she left the room.

”Speaking of dowry, shouldn’t we buy something for Mom? How much money do we still have?” Luo Shufan asked in a low voice as he watched his sister come out, though neither of them avoided Lin Jiayou.

”Gold necklace, gold ring, gold earrings?” Luo Qianqian pouted, she had no idea, she had never been married.

”My dad has already prepared those,” Lin Jiayou interjected, ”and a diamond ring too.”

”Uncle Lin is quite romantic, huh.” Luo Qianqian blinked, a diamond ring was tempting to her, but for Luo’s Mom it was just an expensive stone, not as ’value-preserving’ as gold. Actually, when you think about it, isn’t jade just a stone too?

”My dad also said, to invite you guys to join the wedding photoshoot.” Lin Jiayou made a face, not even including his own son.

Luo Qianqian was stunned, then smiled, ”Why don’t we pool money to buy a car? As a dowry for Mom, we can’t let the in-laws look down on us, right?”

”How can we afford that?” Luo Shufan was stunned, his sister must not understand the market, things are very expensive nowadays.

Luo Qianqian frowned, indeed, the initial money was spent on buying the store, and what followed was certainly not enough for a car. Was she being too fanciful?

”Why don’t we transfer the store to Mom?” Luo Shufan suggested after some thought.

”Right, Mom doesn’t even know the store is under our names.” Rented for three years, the lease hadn’t even expired this year. Luo Qianqian’s eyes lit up, and she readily agreed.

”But let’s not consider Xiao Yu’s home store, just collect the rent, money not shown is still wealth, it’s not good to let people know we own that much.” Luo Shufan didn’t avoid Lin Jiayou, showing him trust.

”Yeah, Brother Lin, you’ve got to keep it a secret for us, otherwise, it won’t be good if Mom finds out.” Luo Qianqian stuck out her tongue playfully.

Lin Jiayou nodded, ”Okay, I’ll keep your secret.” Lin Jiayou didn’t ask further, having been around for so many years, he knew what mattered.

”By the way, what are we going to wear that day?” Luo Shufan spoke and furrowed his brow again, he had never attended a wedding and had no clue.

Luo Qianqian smiled, ”Baby is a bridesmaid, no need to worry about clothes, Mom will prepare them for me.”

Luo Shufan looked towards Lin Jiayou.

Lin Jiayou touched his nose: ”I’m a groomsman.”

”Why am I all alone...” Luo Shufan looked unhappy, with Mom getting married and sister being a bridesmaid, wouldn’t he just be standing there stupidly?

”Not at all, brother, stick with me. Whatever I do, you do, and if all else fails, you can go play with sister, Little Meatball can talk.” Luo Qianqian chuckled lightly, her face filled with a tender expression thinking of Little Meatball.

”You think I have anything to say to that little tyke? Should I ask her if she can count or recite poetry? Wow, impressive, right?” Luo Shufan emphatically shook his head in refusal.

”Don’t worry, you’ll definitely be with me and Mom, you’re biologically ours, not picked up from anywhere.” Luo Qianqian covered her mouth and giggled, despite not knowing how Luo’s Mom would arrange it, but she was certain that they wouldn’t let her brother stand alone; that’s a mother for you.
