Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 175: Chapter 163: Luo Qianqian, Luo Bàbà

”The monitor will arrange the class meeting during self-study period later,” the homeroom teacher said after collecting the papers and then left. Is it really okay to start the first day of school like this? But because of the test, school also ended a little earlier, and after the class meeting and self-study period, we could go home.

Watching the teacher walk away with the papers, Luo Qianqian turned around with a mischievous smile and looked at Pei Yuhao.

”Why are you smiling like that...” Pei Yuhao was puzzled and felt instinctively that Luo Qianqian had ulterior motives.

With a somewhat serious expression, Luo Qianqian said, ”Did you know? Life does not have the words ’easy’. If you think it’s easy, then it must be because someone is enduring the difficulties for you.”

”Why are you being so profound?” Pei Yuhao frowned.

”Like, for example, when the results come out, the one bearing the difficulties will be your notes, hmm,” Luo Qianqian turned her head back, her face filled with a smile.

Pei Yuhao was completely baffled and even started to wonder what he thought was easy that made Luo Qianqian say such a thing.

”???” Qian Yuling looked at Luo Qianqian with curiosity.

Luo Qianqian smiled mysteriously, ”It’s a secret, you’ll probably find out this week.” Then she pinched her fingers and said, ”I predict that this time the monitor will be at the bottom of the class.”

”How is that possible.” Pei Yuhao, having heard this, showed a face full of disagreement. The questions were from his notes, how could that be? ”Are you just trying to psych me out because you’re scared I’ll surpass you?”

”Ha, maybe.” Luo Qianqian stopped responding to that question.

The class meeting was nothing more than re-electing class officers. Everyone initially agreed that Luo Qianqian should be elected as the academic committee member, but Luo Qianqian herself firmly insisted that Li Qi should continue in the role, using her younger age as an excuse to decline.

Then the only change was that the health committee member position went from Wang Yang to Zheng Dami. Zheng Dami had a younger sister named Zheng Xiaomi and a cousin named Zheng Huasheng. The introduction was quite a highlight as Zheng Dami was quite introverted and usually didn’t talk much. Since Wang Yang was scheming against Luo Qianqian, it was naturally impossible for him to continue as a class officer. Class officers should lead by example, and Luo Qianqian declined because she thought it was too much trouble.

After school, Luo Qianqian went home and opened the gifts from Shen Yan and Gu Yanzhi. Shen Yan had given her a crystal-embedded hair clip, which was shiny and cute, while the gift from Gu Yanzhi was strawberry daifuku, which made Luo Qianqian realize he must have been to the Island country.

The next day, the grades were out, and Xiu Xian made a calm comment, ”It seems everyone had a good time over the holiday. I’m glad to see that. And there are a few students who studied during the break, not bad. Luo Qianqian, keep it up.”

”...”

”Pei Yuhao, study hard.” It was after more than twenty names were called that Pei Yuhao’s name finally came up. Pei Yuhao, who had been preening himself, was filled with disbelief. When he got his paper back, he looked as dejected as a frostbitten eggplant.

After class, Pei Yuhao patted Luo Qianqian on the shoulder, ”Genius, can you tell me how you knew? I clearly cheated.”

Such a test wouldn’t be kept secret from close classmates, it wasn’t a big deal, and it wouldn’t determine the rank in the whole grade.

”You really want to know?” Luo Qianqian said proudly, ”I’m not going to tell you.”

”Come on, Qianqian, please tell me.” His words were filled with confusion and dissatisfaction, thinking that his own performance would have been better. How could cheating end up with a lower score than his own actual performance? Who else could it be?

Luo Qianqian nodded, suggesting that it was indeed the case, and then said, ”Because your cheat sheet was wrong from the start.”

Pei Yuhao’s brows furrowed slightly, ”How’s that possible? I copied it carefully.”

Luo Qianqian pulled out her notes, which were sparse on content but had all the key points, ”Take a look.”

Pei Yuhao looked at Luo Qianqian directly, ”Your work is not much different from my notes, but how come the final answer of the example problem is different?” He pulled out his own notes and compared them step by step, then his expression grew increasingly bizarre, ”Luo Qianqian, this isn’t the method shown on the blackboard either.”

Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, thinking to herself that of course it wasn’t, why use a complex method when a simple one would do, ”The example problem was done by asking someone to solve it on the board. You must have copied down the wrong answer, right? My method is different, but I guarantee it’s correct.”

Pei Yuhao let out a long sigh, ”Luo Qianqian, I’m really impressed. How about you take me on as your apprentice? Not only will I do chores and carry your bag, but I’ll also fetch water for you, and even pick you up and drop you off from school.”

Luo Qianqian looked at Pei Yuhao suspiciously, ”Have you lost your mind? Aren’t you the one who doesn’t care about grades at all?”

Pei Yutian chuckled lightly from the side, ”Last year’s final exam results really pissed off dad. He didn’t take us out for fun during the holidays. Dad said if I get the same results this year, I might as well just stay at home. No fun at all, the great heir can’t even get into high school without pulling strings, how would that look for his reputation?”

”Pei Yutian, shut your mouth,” Pei Yuhao said with embarrassed anger, ”You can’t go out either, so what’s there for you to be smug about?”

”At least I still have my pocket money, thanks to my brother for letting me off easy and not making my situation as dire,” Pei Yutian raised an eyebrow slightly, his face filled with smiles.

”Hmph,” Pei Yuhao’s mood shifted as quickly as flipping a face, from glaring eyes to an affable and friendly manner as he said to Luo Qianqian, ”See how nice I am? Won’t you take me on?”

”No thanks, I’ll pass on that,” Luo Qianqian looked at Pei Yutian’s slightly swollen cheek and said, ”I really wonder if all those cavities your brother has are because of the candy you stuffed him with.”

”How could that be? I don’t even like candy,” Pei Yuhao quickly waved his hands.

Luo Qianqian suddenly looked at Pei Yuhao with curiosity, ”Don’t you have an old teacher in Sichuan Province?”

”Ah? No, I don’t. Sichuan Province? That’s where they raise giant pandas, right?” Pei Yuhao was completely puzzled.

”I thought your ability to change faces was because you had a famous master. Turns out you’re self-taught. My respects to you,” Luo Qianqian expressed admiration unconvincingly, but Pei Yuhao felt there was an implied meaning in her words, something that seemed amiss no matter how he thought about it.

”Ha ha ha,” Qian Yuling and Pei Yutian had started laughing.

Luo Qianqian shook her head, thinking this is what they call an insider being clueless.

”You’re the one who’s changing faces,” Pei Yuhao, who finally caught on, bellowed at Luo Qianqian with an embarrassed face.

”Is that so? Weren’t you the one scaring your little brother just now? Or was it not you who had a fawning face a moment ago?” Luo Qianqian spoke with disbelief, her mouth serious yet her eyes full of mirth.

”Luo Qianqian, master, great sage, mighty scholar, overlord...” Pei Yuhao pleaded with a pitiful face, knowing in the class only Luo Qianqian could help him. Getting a tutor and still not improving would not only disappoint his parents but also shatter his own confidence and increase ridicule.

”Stop, stop, stop. I can’t have a son as old as you, and aren’t you mistaken about the gender?” Luo Qianqian quickly interrupted Pei Yuhao, wondering if he would start calling her great-grandma if he kept going.

”Ah? Son?” Pei Yuhao was stunned, and after a while, his face turned red, ”Not that kind of dad, but the ’scholar’ one...”

”You don’t need to explain. Let’s forget about this matter. I can’t accept having a son as big as you. If you insist, then go call Li Qi ’Mom.’ If she agrees, I’ll agree,” Luo Qianqian said, unbothered by Li Qi’s entertained expression as she dragged her into it.

”Pfft,” Li Qi was drinking water and sprayed it out at once, ”Luo Qianqian, that’s enough. Come on, come on, little mouse, call Mommy.”

”Come on, call Daddy,” Luo Qianqian narrowed her eyes at Pei Yuhao.

Pei Yuhao’s face flushed red as he glared at Luo Qianqian.
