Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 160: Chapter 149: Swaggering Around with Old Master Luo

```
”Hurry up and call Grandma’s house.” Luo Qianqian, before entering the room, unapologetically shot her brother a big eye roll. Luo Shufan said nothing, grabbed his suitcase, and headed into the room. The suitcase held only gifts; clothing and such things were already plentiful in the room.
After washing her face, Luo Qianqian changed into a set of casual clothes suitable for lounging at home and, noticing her brother had yet to leave his room, decided to head downstairs herself.
”Hey, your humming is pointless; I’ve got grandkids to keep me company, while you’re stuck with a house full of adults,” Old Master Luo declared cheerily into the phone. Yue Tingyu saw Luo Qianqian coming down the stairs and smiled gently:
”Your grandfather is showing off to an old friend.”
Luo Qianqian blinked, unable to discern the underlying message.
”Dream on, my granddaughter wouldn’t spare your stinking brat a glance,” Old Master Luo blurted out after a while, and then, realizing his wife and granddaughter were watching, he awkwardly hung up the phone. ”Wife, that darned old fool said to let his stinking kid hang out with our Qianqian to foster a relationship.”
”You be careful, or Qianqian might get scared off from visiting in the future.” Yue Tingyu gave Old Master Luo a sharp look with her big eyes, feeling a pang of sympathy for Luo Qianqian’s pout.
”Qianqian, Grandpa would never let those stinking boys have their way with you. When your brothers get back, if anyone dares bother you, we’ll drag them out for a beating,” Old Master Luo assured her solemnly.
Luo Qianqian blinked. She wouldn’t mind being admired for her good looks, but she dared not voice that thought.
”No wonder my brothers are so violent; it turns out they have Grandpa’s indulgence to thank.” Luo Qianqian covered her mouth to suppress laughter, picturing Luo Yanran getting beaten up.
”Qianqian, have you called Mom?” Luo Shufan came downstairs with his phone, his face etched with indecision.
”I sent a text after getting off the plane, didn’t call. Will you?” Luo Qianqian hesitated, realizing this was something easy to forget, much like forgetting to call Grandpa’s house.
”Then I’ll just send a text too.” Luo Shufan’s fingers moved rapidly over his phone.
”Shufan, what are you holding there?” Yue Tingyu’s eyes were sharp enough to spot something in Luo Shufan’s arms.
”These are the gifts we brought. We can’t come empty-handed, so my brother and I thought we’d bring presents.” Luo Qianqian said smilingly as she took the items from her brother’s arms. ”It’s nothing fancy, just a little something from us.”
As she spoke, she passed the gifts to Yue Tingyu: tea and skincare products.
Seeing the tea leaves, Yue Tingyu chuckled, ”You two still remember this old man’s hobbies. Go on, take it.” She handed the tea leaves to Old Master Luo, who was eyeing them eagerly. Examining the skincare gift set, her eyes lit up. ”Thank you, Qianqian and Xiao Fan. Granny loves it too.”
”Hehe, my granddaughter is always so thoughtful.” Old Master Luo could hardly contain his glee.
”Calm down, show some dignity. A grandfather has to command respect,” Yue Tingyu raised an eyebrow, feeling helpless at her own husband’s secretly soft demeanor, knowing he preferred pretending to be austere in front of his grandchildren.
”In front of you, what dignity do I have...” Old Master Luo muttered under his breath.
”Let’s make something good for dinner tonight, call the oldest son’s wife and Laoer and his wife, as well as Xiao Si, to come over for dinner. I’ll take Qianqian and Xiao Fan out for a bit,” Old Master Luo put down the tea leaves. ”You two go back and put on coats, it’s not far but don’t catch a cold.”
Yue Tingyu wore a resigned expression, nodded her head, and began putting away the items, resigned to make phone calls and arrange dinner.
Luo Qianqian and her brother exchanged a look then went back to their room to change clothes. They both selected elegant and proper outfits, mindful not to tarnish Grandpa’s reputation when out and about. Seeing their grandfather’s traditional Chinese jacket after descending the stairs, they were relieved at their wardrobe choice.
”Let’s go, let’s go, Grandpa is going to introduce you to some friends,” Old Master Luo announced with a grand wave of his hand, leading his grandchildren away under Yue Tingyu’s resigned gaze.
”Grandpa, where are we going?” Luo Qianqian, aware that Xu Tianyi lived nearby but unsure of his exact address, surveyed the neighboring houses.
”We’re heading to an old buddy of Grandpa’s place, right over there.” Old Master Luo, in a buoyant mood, pointed toward a building not too far away and filled the Luo siblings in on the pecking order from days gone by. His friend had been his squad leader, who ultimately ended up saluting him. Remembering this tickled Old Master Luo.
```

”Grandpa, where does the Xu Family live?” Luo Qianqian blinked. ”I haven’t seen Xu Tianyi for quite a while.”

Luo Shufan’s mouth twitched. It had been just over a month, and you talk like you haven’t seen him for ages. Do you think you’re really Princess and Prince Consort? Haven’t you heard that even the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl meet only once a year?

”Xu Tianyi? ...” Old Master Luo looked puzzled for a moment before saying, ”I don’t know him. Who remembers the names of the younger generation other than those of their own family?”

Luo Qianqian pouted and didn’t ask any further, obediently following Old Master Luo to the front of the villa. Before they could knock, the door opened, and an elderly man with white hair and a sprightly spirit emerged: ”I knew this old coot couldn’t wait to come over to brag.”

”Hmph, I have something to brag about too. My family has little ones to play with,” Old Master Luo retorted unapologetically.

”Come, come, come over here, kids. It’s warm inside. Let’s not freeze out here with this old coot,” the old man beckoned Luo Shufan and Luo Qianqian from behind Old Master Luo.

Seeing the two not moving, Old Master Luo glared triumphantly at the old man at the doorway: ”Let’s go, let’s go, this old fellow has good food at home, don’t be shy, eat plenty.” Saying so, he led the way into the villa. The old man at the doorway glared at Old Master Luo as they entered the villa.

”Grandpa, hello, I’m Luo Qianqian.”

”Grandpa, hello, I’m Luo Shufan.”

Their synchronized greeting put Old Master Luo in a great mood. See, his own kids are so well-mannered, they do bring him honor.

”Good, good, all good, come on in,” the old man made way at the door, then glared at Old Master Luo: ”Is that how you behave as a grandpa? Leaving the youngsters behind and going inside yourself.”

”My kids are sensible, no need to worry about them,” Old Master Luo boasted as he comfortably settled on the couch – a habit of a military man.

”That’s because the kids are outstanding, what does that have to do with you?” the old man glared at Old Master Luo, irritated, and then told the two, ”My name is Tu Su, just call me Grandpa Tu.”

”Hello, Grandpa Tu,” the siblings chorused.

”Wait till the New Year, I’ll give you big red envelopes,” Tu Su said with a smile that spread warmth, and his gaze towards Luo Qianqian was especially cringe-inducing: ”Old coot, let’s become in-laws.”

”Do you have an unmarried daughter?” Old Master Luo’s first thought was his youngest son.

”Who said anything about your Laoer? I fancy your granddaughter. I have plenty of grandsons, just pick one,” Luo Qianqian and Luo Shufan both went green in the face but maintained their smiles.

”You old codger, get your mind off my granddaughter. I don’t intercede in my granddaughter’s affairs. That way is just too hateful,” Old Master Luo decisively shook his head. He had noticed the siblings’ expressions just now, although it seemed to him that the Tu grandsons were quite outstanding too.

”Give it a try, didn’t you and Tingyu also fall in love over time?” Upon hearing Tu Su bring up the grandparents’ gossip, the siblings immediately pricked up their ears.

”How old are your grandsons? Old Niu eating tender grass, huh? My Qianqian is smart and lovely, I won’t let you take advantage of her,” Old Master Luo’s face reddened as he said this and turned away.

”Whether it’s my pig or another’s, isn’t it all the same? You can rest assured with my pigs. They’re not force-fed but all prime cuts—healthy and presentable,” Tu Su chuckled as he had tea served for the three of them.

”My cabbage is locked in a safe, it’s not up for grabs, hmph,” Old Master Luo felt unhappy at the thought of his granddaughter marrying one day, thinking that he should pick the right pig now, one that would be worthy of his precious Little Cabbage.

The Luo siblings exchanged glances: Luo Shufan: You’re the cabbage;

Luo Qianqian: You’re the pig;

Luo Shufan: Where’s your pig then?

Luo Qianqian: Where’s your cabbage then?
