Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 163: Chapter 152: Xu Xiaoxiao

”You two just hang out here and don’t run around. Auntie will be done in an hour,” Jia Ning and Ye Qianying took the siblings shopping and made an appointment for a beauty treatment on the way. Luo Yanran had already returned to the film crew after the New Year and had even given Luo Qianqian a New Year’s gift of money.

”Okay,” the siblings refused the suggestion to get a beauty treatment and decided to just wander around casually.

”That store looks nice.” Luo Qianqian pulled Luo Shufan into a shop and checked out the items. Luo Shufan shook his head, indeed, children are just children; candies and such, well it is the New Year, no big deal. So he waited outside the store for his sister to finish shopping.

”How much is this candy?” Luo Qianqian was drawn to a candy house set.

”This one is limited edition, we only have this one in our store, so it’s not discounted,” the clerk said after Luo Qianqian didn’t leave upon hearing the explanation and quoted a price.

Upon hearing the price, Luo Qianqian was stunned; indeed, it was a bit expensive. She hesitated to make a decision.

”Wrap it up for me; I’ll take it.” Before Luo Qianqian could speak up, a girl in a red dress, who looked to be about twelve or thirteen, handed over a membership card, her eyes full of disdain as she looked at Luo Qianqian.

”But it was this young lady who wanted it first,” the clerk said awkwardly, looking at Luo Qianqian.

”So, do you want it?” the girl asked Luo Qianqian, looking down from her height advantage.

Without thinking, Luo Qianqian shook her head. It was just a pretty thing; with this money, she could buy all these candies and put together four or five of her own. She wasn’t a fool who wasted money just because she had it.

”Fine, wrap it up. What’s the point of talking to such country bumpkins?” The girl snorted coldly and waited to check out with elegance.

Luo Qianqian frowned but didn’t intend to argue. She left the store and pulled Luo Shufan, not saying a word, intending to leave.

Luo Shufan was surprised to see that his sister didn’t buy anything. However, if she wanted to go, he wouldn’t stay; he wasn’t much interested in candies.

Luo Shufan’s indifferent demeanor caught the girl’s eye in the shop; she took her newly bought candy house and chased after the two.

”The candy for you, you for me,” the girl said, tilting her head at Luo Shufan.

Luo Qianqian couldn’t help but laugh, thinking this girl wasn’t fit to be her sister-in-law.

Luo Shufan frowned and, pulling Luo Qianqian away from the girl, continued walking.

”Don’t play coy. Do you know who I am? Offending our Xu Family, are you sure about that?” The girl again blocked the siblings’ path, citing her family background, believing that after hearing about her family, the cold boy in front of her would definitely leave this little brat and go with her.

Luo Shufan, frowning, was about to walk away but was stopped by Luo Qianqian, ”The Xu Family? Are you from the Xu Family?”

”I’m Xu Xiaoxiao,” the girl said, unsatisfied with the lack of fear she had expected to see.

”Do you know Xu Tianyi?” Luo Qianqian followed up with a question. That’s when Luo Shufan realized why his sister had stopped.

”That bastard? Didn’t he use backdoor connections to get into military school?” Xu Xiaoxiao looked disdainful, ”You know that bastard? Then you probably don’t come from a good family either.”

”Military school?!” Luo Qianqian was taken aback, backdoor connections? But she quickly figured it out; of course, if he was underage, he had to use connections.

”An auditor, without a graduation certificate,” Xu Xiaoxiao said contemptuously to Luo Qianqian, ”Knowing I’m from the Xu Family, can you scram now? Handsome, I’m Xu Xiaoxiao.” She said, smiling friendly at Luo Shufan and reaching out for a handshake.

Luo Qianqian let go of Luo Shufan’s arm and went aside to make a phone call.

Watching Xu Xiaoxiao’s overbearing manner, Luo Shufan felt an inexplicable disgust, not to mention the way she had treated his sister just now.

”What’s the deal with Xu Tianyi?” Luo Shufan suppressed his discomfort and couldn’t easily say the dismissive words the girl had said just now.

”His mom was a girlfriend that my younger uncle had never married. After he was born, that woman died, and then my uncle married my aunt. My uncle was injured later, unable to have children, so they brought him back. He agreed to return because he wanted to get treatment for Grandpa’s ex-wife. How do you know him?” Xu Xiaoxiao pouted, ”Aside from his brain, he doesn’t resemble the Xu family at all. There are no such looks in the Xu family, so effeminate, so weak.” Luo Shufan looked carefully and seemed to confirm that Xu Tianyi really shared no resemblance with the woman before him, who gave off a sturdy impression, whereas Xu Tianyi always seemed delicate.

”Xu Tianyi is my friend,” Luo Shufan said, seeing his sister holding her phone with a worried expression and decided to keep secret the fact that he already knew the situation. He walked over to comfort her, ”What’s wrong? Still can’t get through?”

”Yeah, I sent a message. He should reply after he sees it,” Luo Qianqian forced a smile but couldn’t manage it.

”How can you be so rude? I was talking to you, and you just walked away?” Xu Xiaoxiao grabbed Luo Shufan’s sleeve.

Luo Shufan’s face turned cold: ”Let go!”

”I’m from the Xu family. Being with me, you’d save fifty years of struggle. What could you possibly have with that little girl? Other than her face, what does she have?” Xu Xiaoxiao pointed at Luo Qianqian.

Luo Qianqian was taken aback, knowing Xu Xiaoxiao had misunderstood. She was about to say something but then thought of the insults she had heard about Xu Tianyi and her face turned cold: ”Whether or not I’m good-looking is subjective, but I know for sure I’m more than just looks! I’m also a student who has developed in all aspects—morality, intelligence, physicality, aesthetics, and labor.” Far stronger than someone who only knows how to use foul language!

That was because Luo Qianqian didn’t hear the latter part of the conversation and didn’t know Xu Tianyi’s situation in the Xu family, or else her words might have been harsher.

”Save fifty years of struggle by being with you? He’s young now, fifty years later is the time to enjoy life. If you start enjoying life now, suffering later is foolish. Choosing comfort in the age when one should strive is either dumb or stupid.”

”Little girl? Is my small size bothering you? I’m saving fabric for the country!”

”The Xu family is so great? If you’re so capable, go hang your photo at Tiananmen Gate!”

”The merits of the elders are being shamed by juniors like you.”

”Qianqian?” Jia Ning and Ye Qianying had just come out and saw their niece with her hands on her hips, arguing with someone—a situation that would never happen to their usually mild and smiling niece. And there was their nephew, standing to the side with a cold face doing nothing to stop it: ”The person on the other side is from the Xu family, right?” Jia Ning asked in a low voice.

”Xu Xiaoxiao, the bully from Old Master Xu’s house,” answered Ye Qianying who often got more information from being with her husband.

”Why is Qianqian...” Ye Qianying stopped Jia Ning who was about to step forward.

”Let the children handle it, if the other’s parents show up, then we’ll intervene. Right now, it’s not our kids who are at a disadvantage,” Ye Qianying shook her head and whispered.

”You have the guts, tell me your name, you believe tomorrow you’d come crying to my house begging me?” Xu Xiaoxiao glared, incredulous as she looked at Luo Qianqian.

”My name shall remain unchanged, and my seat shall not be moved...” Seeing Xu Xiaoxiao all ears, Luo Qianqian’s lips curved into a mocking smile: ”You want me to say it because you say so? Who do you think you are?”

”Want to know my name? Beg me.”

”Don’t want to beg me? Then here, apologize for the nasty things you’ve said about Xu Tianyi, and I might not mind telling you,” Luo Qianqian’s lips curved into a mocking smile.

”Why should I? He’s just a little bastard!” Xu Xiaoxiao had never considered that Luo Qianqian’s explosive reaction was entirely due to her habitual insults.

”Hmm, you’re his family member, so you are a little! Bastard! Too!” Luo Qianqian said these three words to Xu Xiaoxiao’s face without any pressure, but she couldn’t say the same about the Scholar God she admired.

The raised hand of Xu Xiaoxiao was caught by Luo Shufan. Xu Xiaoxiao looked at him resentfully.

”She insults me and you don’t care? And now you’re holding me back?”

”I couldn’t bear to lay a finger on her, and you dare to raise a hand to her in front of me? It’s as if I’m dead,” Luo Shufan’s chilling voice reached Xu Xiaoxiao’s ears.

Luo Qianqian leaped up and slapped Xu Xiaoxiao across the face. Xu Xiaoxiao looked at Luo Qianqian in disbelief.

”What are you looking at? You think you can hit me and I can’t fight back?” Luo Qianqian snorted coldly, ”Next time I hear filth from your mouth, I’ll knock your teeth out! And if you say one more bad word about Xu Tianyi, I’ll slap you every time I see you.” Luo Qianqian had no idea that this act of defending someone had caused Xu Tianyi so much trouble at the Xu family and had brought so much secret convenience to the Luo family.
