Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 159: Chapter 148: Arriving at the Luo Family’s Big House

```
Luo Qianqian returned home and briefed Luo Shufan on Lin Jiayou so that Luo Shufan wouldn’t end up fighting him if they ever met, then she packed her bags and started diligently doing her homework. He Wenyu also worked hard on her homework alongside her siblings, preparing for the New Year trip.
Finally, in the evening, Luo’s Mom came home and immediately entered her daughter’s room, asking anxiously, ”Qianqian, I heard from Uncle Lin that he ran into you today?”
Luo Qianqian looked amusedly at Luo’s Mom and pulled her to sit down, ”Mom, you want to ask about my brother and I visiting Grandpa’s house for the New Year, right?”
Luo’s Mom was taken aback, then nodded, ”Yes.”
”Grandpa is just Dad’s dad, right?” Luo Qianqian said with a warm smile: ”Mom’s mom is Grandma.”
Seeing Luo’s Mom so anxious, Luo Qianqian then slowly explained the events of the past few years, as she had always been afraid that bringing up her never-before-seen father would sadden her mother.
”Qianqian, Mom knows that you have your own thoughts, but your dad has already passed away. Will your Grandpa really love you and your brother?” Luo’s Mom frowned.
Luo Qianqian saw that her mom hadn’t even taken off her coat, being too worried about the two of them, and just shook her head gently, ”Mom, don’t worry. Both my brother and I are clear about whether it’s sincere or not. We didn’t tell you because we didn’t want you to feel burdened.”
Shufan heard the voices in his sister’s room, sighed, brought out the gifts he had taken from the Luo family’s big house, and entered his sister’s room, ”Mom, look, if they were trying to deceive us, would they spend so much? Blood ties are here, whether we acknowledge it or not, we are the children of the Luo family.”
Luo Qianqian looked at the box in her brother’s hands and smiled warmly, ”I was afraid Mom would find out and didn’t dare to wear them. Whether it’s the watch or the jade, I’ve been sneaking around using the mobile phone.”
Luo’s Mom, her face full of surprise, picked up the items from the box; upon seeing the red booklet at the bottom, she was stunned, ”I thought you had secretly bought the cell phones yourselves, but they were gifts.”
”Yes, they were gifts from our brother,” Luo Qianqian said as she wrapped her arm around Luo’s Mom, ”Isn’t it obvious to know if someone truly cares about you or not?”
”A house?” Luo’s Mom’s mouth twitched as she looked at the two names on the property deed, somewhat taken aback.
”It was a present from Second Uncle and Second Aunt, for us to live in when we go to university. It’s surrounded by universities.” Luo Qianqian’s face was filled with longing, ”Going to university in the Capital City, just thinking about it makes me happy.”
”If you don’t pass the exams, let’s see how you’ll boast then.” Luo’s Mom put the items back into the box and returned it to Shufan’s arms, tapping her daughter on the head, ”Still hiding things from me, were you going to keep it a secret forever if it hadn’t been discovered?”
Luo’s Mom was no fool; after giving it some thought, it all became clear to her. All those trips to the Capital City during school breaks, originally thought to be for some competitions, now appeared to be merely play.
”How could that be.” Luo Qianqian wrinkled her nose and cooed in Luo’s Mom’s arms, ”If we hadn’t brought it up, Mom wouldn’t let us wander around during the New Year, right? Now that Mom knows, I can wear my watch.” As she said this, Luo Qianqian took the watch out of the box and, after thinking, also took out the Jade Pendant—it was Grandma’s gesture of affection, after all—and put it around her neck, then looked at her brother. Shufan, surprised, also put the Jade Pendant around his neck and took out his watch.
”As if I wouldn’t buy you watches,” Luo’s Mom said, a hint of grievance in her gaze towards the two children.
”Mom never bought any to begin with,” Luo Qianqian replied, showing her bare wrist, raised her eyebrows playfully, then laughed as she threw herself into Luo’s Mom’s arms.
——
”Brother, did you forget to make the phone call...” Scanning the airport for any familiar faces, Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes.
Shufan was startled and looked at his phone, ”I think, I did... but I might not have said we were arriving today.”
```

”Brother!” Luo Qianqian wanted to cry but found no tears, don’t bully people like this, ”Let’s just take a taxi, calling one now is no quicker than us going there ourselves.”

Luo Shufan readily agreed, thinking whether to sneak call Grandma’s house later and say they wouldn’t be coming for the New Year? It seemed the two calls mentioned by his sister, he hadn’t remembered to make either.

After hailing a cab and mentioning the apartment complex, the siblings began looking out the window.

It had been four years since the first time they arrived at the Luo family’s big house, which felt like being kidnapped.

”Oh? Grandma.” Luo Qianqian rolled down the window, her eyes catching Yue Tingyu carrying milk she just bought from the supermarket, and she waved her hands shouting loudly.

Luo Shufan hurriedly asked the driver to stop, paid the fare, and as he watched his sister rush towards their grandmother, resignedly he picked up the luggage and backpack, following her.

”Qianqian, Xiao Fan, how come you’re here?” Yue Tingyu looked surprised.

Hearing this, Luo Qianqian’s eyes shot towards Luo Shufan, sighing as she noted his inability to meet her gaze, ”We missed Grandma, doesn’t Grandma miss Qianqian? If you don’t, Qianqian and brother will leave right now.”

”What are you talking about, how could I not miss you? I mean why didn’t you say something earlier so someone could have picked you up.” Yue Tingyu freed her hand to touch her granddaughter’s cold little face, ”Come on, let’s go home, it just so happens Grandma is making milk buns today.” Milk buns needed such expensive milk? Luo Qianqian almost spit out a mouthful of blood, but then she thought of the milk Bai Yizhu used to bring her daily and let it go.

”Grandma, let me take it.” Luo Qianqian picked up the milk and followed Yue Tingyu.

Luo Shufan silently trailed behind, not daring to show anger or complain, after all, it was his fault for forgetting to call, and luckily the suitcase had wheels; carrying it in his arms would have been quite a hassle.

”Old man, come out quick, your grandson’s here!” Yue Tingyu opened the gate of the villa and called out loudly.

”Those little brats are not my granddaughter, call those two little rascals, let them come over for New Year’s...” Old Master Luo’s words were abruptly swallowed as the figures at the bottom of the stairs weren’t his youngest grandson and granddaughter, ”Why didn’t you two make a call?” he said, coughing to mask his embarrassment.

”We wanted to surprise Grandpa~” Luo Qianqian softly cooed and acted cutesy, not giving away her brother’s omission.

”You kids do have some conscience, huh, come here, let Grandpa see if you’ve gained weight.” Old Master Luo scooped up his little granddaughter, then frowned, ”Have you been picky with food again and not eating your meals?”

”That’s unfair, you can ask brother, I make sure to eat my meals fully.” Luo Qianqian blinked, ”Maybe I’m turning the food into wisdom, or maybe into beauty.” Playing the cute card in her Grandpa’s arms again, she elicited another round of laughter from him.

”Whose confidence do you have?” Old Master Luo poked Luo Qianqian’s nose with a finger.

”Isn’t it a thick skin like someone else?” Luo Qianqian tilted her head, ”If it’s about being thick-skinned I would definitely say I’m like brother.” She winked playfully at Luo Shufan.

Luo Shufan scowled and gave his sister the side-eye.

”Alright, hurry up and let Qianqian and Xiao Fan go unpack their bags and change into fresh clothes, they must be tired after such a long flight.” Yue Tingyu eyed her husband holding their granddaughter and felt a bit discontented, as she hadn’t had her turn yet.

”Yes, yes, yes, go now.” Watching the siblings head upstairs, Old Master Luo smirked gleefully like a cat that got the cream, ”Later, I’ll call that old coot to brag that I have my granddaughter’s company. That’ll show him.”
