Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 171: Chapter 160: No More Talking

Watching Luo Shufan go upstairs, He Wenyu handed Luo Qianqian over to Luo Shufan and turned to go downstairs.

”If you see him today, then let’s never speak again, let’s not be friends anymore!” Luo Qianqian watched He Wenyu going downstairs, blurted out the words in her urgency, and then she covered her mouth; however, the words had already been spoken.

Turning around, He Wenyu’s face was filled with disbelief, ”You come back and start arguing with me instantly; fine, let’s not talk. Who cares!” He Wenyu, with her bag on her back, left.

Luo Qianqian lay in tears, leaning on her brother’s chest, ”Brother, what should I do, she shouldn’t, she can’t.” Yet Luo Qianqian knew that no one would believe her reason for stopping it.

”Qianqian, what’s gotten into you?” Luo Shufan frowned, ”You’re not usually such a temperamental child; how could you say such things?”

”Brother, no, she can’t be with him,” Luo Qianqian cried, suddenly everything went dark, and she fainted.

By the time Luo Qianqian opened her eyes again, it was already evening. She was lying in bed with an IV drip in her arm and a towel on her forehead. She sat up startled.

Hearing the sound, Luo Shufan entered the room and saw his sister sitting up; he hurried over to support her, ”Lie down quickly; what would you like to eat? I’ll make it for you.”

Luo’s Mom and Lin Xu also peeked in, relieved to see Luo Qianqian awake.

”What happened?” Luo Qianqian pointed to the IV on her hand.

”Big Brother Bai called the doctor; this is glucose,” Luo Shufan explained, seeing his sister’s furrowed brow, then pulled out the needle and placed it back onto the IV bag.

”Now that Qianqian is awake, I’ll head back,” Lin Xu said, seeing Luo Qianqian awake and Luo’s Mom calming down, he patted Luo’s Mom’s shoulder, ”Call me if you need anything, I’m available 24/7.”

”I’ll walk you out,” Luo’s Mom picked up her coat and instructed Luo Shufan, ”Don’t let your sister get too tired.”

Luo Shufan nodded, listening to Luo’s Mom leave before frowning deeply, ”What’s going on with you?”

”It’s nothing,” Luo Qianqian gently shook her head, looking out the window, ”Didn’t He Wenyu come to see me?”

”She doesn’t know,” Luo Shufan was taken aback and quickly explained.

”Forget it, let her be. Don’t come crying to me in the future,” she said aloud, but her mind was occupied with thoughts of how to separate these two.

”Don’t think too much, rest well,” Luo Shufan sighed softly and tucked her in, ”I’ll be in the kitchen if you need anything.”

If it was up to her realization, they might have to endure more hurt. But had Zhao Wenxuan appeared too soon this time? Luo Qianqian clearly remembered that in her previous life, He Wenyu had met Zhao Wenxuan in high school and this life, the junior high she attended wasn’t the usual one; she had tested into Experimental Junior High herself. How could Zhao Wenxuan even meet He Wenyu? According to her many years of understanding, Zhao Wenxuan was never a studious person; how could this life’s He Wenyu possibly fall for him? What charm did he have that trapped He Wenyu for two lifetimes?

”Never mind, I don’t want to think about it anymore, my head hurts,” Luo Qianqian rubbed her forehead, looking at the IV hang on the wall with disgust, got up, took it off, and threw it in the trash. She was definitely agitated, what glucose was this.

”Have some porridge,” Luo Shufan came into the room carrying a bowl of porridge and a boiled egg, sat at the edge of Luo Qianqian’s bed, a face full of concern, ”Is there anything in particular you really want to eat?”

Luo Qianqian shook her head, feeling a bit empty in her stomach after sleeping so long, and picked up the porridge: ”Did you call grandpa’s house to say we’ve arrived?”

Luo Shufan touched his sister’s forehead and nodded: ”I called right after we got off the car, don’t worry too much.”

Luo Qianqian obediently drank her porridge, silent.

Watching his sister finish a bowl of porridge and eat an egg, Luo Shufan felt relieved, took away the bowl, and catching a glimpse of the IV drip bag in the trash can, he smiled wryly: ”Go to sleep, tomorrow we’ll go buy the things for school.” He then went to the kitchen, poured a glass of warm water, placed it on the bedside table, tucked his sister in, turned off the light, and quietly closed the door.

”Okay.” Luo Qianqian closed her eyes, thinking about the past few years, still finding it hard to believe that the person she argued with in the afternoon over Zhao Wenxuan was her friend of two lifetimes. A feeling of discontent spread in her heart, and she slowly drifted off to sleep.

”Qianqian, are you feeling better?” Luo’s Mom opened the door to find her daughter already sitting up, her worried face looking somewhat relieved.

Luo Qianqian nodded: ”I haven’t slept well these past few days, I made mom worry.” She pulled Luo’s Mom to sit on the bed: ”What did grandma say?”

”How come you didn’t sleep well?” Luo’s Mom frowned: ”Is it because of your grandpa’s house . . .”

”No, it’s because I’m nervous about starting school,” Luo Qianqian quickly waved her hand, she just wanted to reassure her mom, not make her hold a grudge against grandpa’s house.

”That’s good, you still get nervous, huh.” Luo’s Mom smiled and touched her daughter’s forehead, finding no fever, she felt relieved. Then she noticed her daughter’s inquiring gaze and spoke after a moment of silence: ”Your grandma really likes Uncle Lin, and mom also visited Uncle Lin’s house during the spring festival, but Uncle Lin’s mom said she didn’t want me bringing you guys to marry into Uncle Lin’s family, so now there’s no plan for marriage.”

”Mom, I’ve said it before, this house is ours, mom can get married and that’s it, we won’t be a burden. If it really comes to it, we can all live at school, mom should be reassured then? Don’t neglect yourself for our sake, otherwise we’ll be blamed later, and we wouldn’t be unjustly wronged, would we?” Luo Qianqian cooed as she wriggled Luo’s Mom’s arm: ”As long as mom feels happy, that’s what matters. We’ll also get married in the future, wouldn’t it be our fault if mom is all alone?”

”Where did you hear that?” Luo’s Mom tapped her daughter’s forehead lightly twice: ”Your happiness is mom’s happiness,” she said, hugging her daughter and patting her back: ”Mom will consider it, don’t worry too much.”

”You have to chase happiness when it comes, it won’t wait for you because you hesitate,” Luo Qianqian mumbled in Luo’s Mom’s embrace: ”With someone to take care of mom, my brother and I can also peacefully go to study, whether it’s to another city or abroad, we can leave without worry.”

”Qianqian, rest assured, even if mom gets married, the money I earn will be saved for you and your brother. I’ve talked it over with your Uncle Lin, my earnings are for you siblings, no one else has the right to touch it,” Luo’s Mom whispered: ”Mom won’t let you suffer.”

”As long as it doesn’t trouble mom, it’s fine.” Luo Qianqian didn’t refuse, though she and her brother already had a considerable amount of savings hidden from Luo’s Mom: ”Hasn’t mom already decided? Why hesitate? Are you worried about how my brother and I would feel? We’re not little kids anymore.” Luo Qianqian pouted: ”I’m already ten years old, mom shouldn’t think she can skip giving us New Year’s money just because she didn’t see us during the festival.” Saying this, she extended her hand.

”Would you ever lack for that? It’s on the desk, along with the New Year’s money from grandma, grandpa, Auntie, second Auntie, Uncle Lin, godfather, and godmother. Don’t forget to eat something when you get up.” Luo’s Mom’s gaze moved to the desk, then noticing the clock on it: ”It’s about time, mom has to go now, call me if you want anything for dinner, I’ll buy it for you on my way back.” Watching Luo Qianqian nod, Luo’s Mom picked up her coat and left the house.

”I thought you might not be willing.” Luo Shufan leaned against the doorway watching Luo’s Mom leave, then turned to his sister, his eyes filled with relief.

”What’s that look for?” Luo Qianqian pouted, she wasn’t really a ten-year-old child, how could she stop mom from pursuing love? If she had objected, mom, despite her reluctance, wouldn’t have continued with Lin Xu, that was mom: ”I want egg custard, and an Apple.”

Luo Shufan glanced at his sister and, seeing no sign of reluctance in her eyes, went to the kitchen: ”Mom bought you soy milk, and you still want egg custard, you really are a child.”

Luo Qianqian heard what Luo Shufan said and didn’t argue.
