Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 156: Chapter 145: Xu Tianyi’s Departure

Xu Tianyi sat in Luo Qianqian’s room, slightly surprised. There were no posters or celebrity albums, just a pile of plush dolls. His gaze suddenly fell on a rabbit on the desk—why did it look so much like his rabbit? However, there was a slight difference; this one seemed a bit more exquisite.

He Wenyu knocked on the door to fetch Luo Qianqian’s extracurricular books, and seeing Xu Tianyi looking at the rabbit on the desk, he chuckled and said, ”Qianqian has always liked this rabbit, but the first one she made was bought by an old lady. She still felt affectionate toward it, so she made another one, that was four years ago. She’s a persistent kid.”

Xu Tianyi gaped, and He Wenyu left the room without noticing.

I am persistent too, Xu Tianyi thought, smiling gently at the rabbit. If only I had known it was you.

”Tianyi, I’ve encountered a tough problem,” Luo Shufan said, holding his workbook as he entered Luo Qianqian’s bedroom, looking at the pile of fluffy toys on the bed and twitching his lips, ”You can just throw them on the floor—she still has a child’s heart, buying so many.”

”What’s the problem?” Xu Tianyi asked, looking at the toys on the bed and smiling, pulling a long-eared rabbit into his arms and sitting in front of the desk.

”Oh oh, this one.” Luo Shufan was happy studying with Xu Tianyi.

In the living room, the two people watching ”Princess Pearl” were also enjoying themselves, ”Qianqian, do you think Fifth Brother and Xiao Yanzi can end up together? They are so willful...”

”Hey, you’ve watched it three times now, and you’re still asking me?” Luo Qianqian said speechlessly, lifting her head from her book.

”I just find these characters really funny. You remember that dialogue, right? The one with ’Male: Yes, you are heartless, you are cruel, you are unreasonable!’

’Female: So you are not heartless, not cruel, not unreasonable!?’” He Wenyu said, holding a pillow, ”I almost laughed until tears came out.”

”You are boring, you are childish, you are idle.” Luo Qianqian looked up at He Wenyu then lowered her head again.

He Wenyu instantly became dramatically expressive: ”So you are not boring? Not childish? Not idle?”

”Where am I boring? Where am I childish? Where am I idle?” Luo Qianqian raised the book in her hand, raising her eyebrows slightly.

”Where are you not boring? Where are you not childish? Where are you not idle?” He Wenyu said, not even looking at the book in Luo Qianqian’s hand, speaking in a tearful voice. This prompted Luo Shufan and Xu Tianyi to peek out from the bedroom as well.

”Even if I am boring or childish, I could never be more so than you.”

”You’re missing something...” He Wenyu immediately pointed out the mistake.

”Keep it down a bit...” Luo Shufan and Xu Tianyi, with exasperated expressions, returned to their room to continue studying.

”Go watch your show; I’m going to find something to eat.” Luo Qianqian put down her book and went to the kitchen, seeing a box of apples on the floor she had an idea. She took out a plate, skipped peeling due to the danger, and using a kitchen knife, chopped the apples into uneven pieces. Looking at the rather empty-looking plate, she took out two more apples, carefully removed the cores with a fruit knife, and looking at the strangely shaped apples, Luo Qianqian felt a bit guilty, but still took out milk, heated it in the microwave for three minutes, poured four cups, and took two cups and the fruit plate back to the bedroom, smiling at the sight of her brother and Xu Tianyi studying diligently. A brother who loves studying is a good brother.

”Imperial Brother, Prince Consort, you’ve worked hard. Have some snacks?” Luo Shufan looked at the apples in Luo Qianqian’s hand, his first reaction was to put down the plate and carefully examine Luo Qianqian’s hands.

”Did you cut your hand?” Luo Shufan looked reprimandingly at Luo Qianqian, ”Next time just wash them and bring them here, don’t do something so dangerous.”

”I’m not five anymore; stop looking at me like I’m a little kid,” Luo Qianqian rolled her eyes, ”Eat up, I’m going out.”

”Yes, yes, you’re almost ten,” Luo Shufan rolled his eyes, looking at Xu Tianyi, ”She’s a kitchen disaster, just ignore her. It’s already a miracle she could cut them like this.” Admiring the toothpicks in the plate, Luo Shufan acknowledged his sister had matured quite a bit.

After drinking the milk, Luo Qianqian went to Luo’s Mom’s room to sleep, He Wenyu was also sent home by Luo Qianqian to sleep obediently. It was much later when Luo Shufan and Xu Tianyi went to sleep. After the three were asleep, Luo’s Mom returned home, seeing her daughter on the bed, she smiled and hugged her daughter to sleep, just thinking her daughter missed her, never considering there was another person at the house.

”Tianyi, make sure Qianqian gets enough to eat later. She used to always go downstairs to buy rice porridge. I’m leaving early,” Luo’s Mom left early, leaving food on the table still steaming. Luo Shufan instructed a freshly washed Xu Tianyi after finishing his meal, watching Xu Tianyi nod before leaving.

”Brother, I want a little cake,” Luo Qianqian said sleepily, standing at the door of the room, rubbing her eyes and calling out loudly.

”No, just soy milk, fried dough sticks, and baozi.” Xu Tianyi chuckled as he looked at Luo Qianqian in her fluffy pajamas.

Hearing a voice different from usual, Luo Qianqian quickly realized who it was, darted into her room, changed clothes, diligently washed up, and then sat at the table and finished her meal.

”Are you full?” Watching Luo Qianqian drink her soy milk with her lips covered in white, Xu Tianyi asked with a smile.

Luo Qianqian nodded, not sure why he asked.

”Then let’s go to school.” Xu Tianyi watched as Luo Qianqian locked the door and then, puzzled, took out her wallet. Why carry a wallet when you have a bus pass?

Reaching the doorway and seeing the breakfast stall, the stall owner had already greeted Luo Qianqian. ”Qianqian, you’re early today. The usual cup of millet porridge?”

”Yes.” Luo Qianqian nodded and then suddenly realized Xu Tianyi, who was with her, had already eaten breakfast. She shook her head, ”Not today, thank you, Grandma.”

”Do you usually buy it for me here?” Xu Tianyi looked amused as he saw Luo Qianqian blush. Why blush over buying porridge?

”It’s not specifically for you,” Luo Qianqian muttered quietly.

”Princess, the bus is coming—coming aboard?” Xu Tianyi teased as he saw the bus approaching from afar.

”Don’t call me Princess, I will really get angry, Prince Consort,” Luo Qianqian grumbled through clenched teeth.

As the days edged closer, the look in Luo Qianqian’s eyes whenever she faced Xu Tianyi was filled with sorrow.

She didn’t go to Elder Zhang’s over the weekend and instead dragged Xu Tianyi all over the place under the guise of buying gifts for her brothers.

”Luo Qianqian, you’re making such a fuss as if we won’t see each other for years,” Xu Tianyi said, his hands nearly unable to hold anymore bags.

”Who knows? I don’t often visit Grandpa’s, and although I can contact my brother through QQ as he’s in high school, it feels just like chatting with an internet friend—somewhat unreal,” Luo Qianqian looked at the gifts she bought for every member of the Luo family and then at Xu Tianyi, ”Wait for me.” Saying this, Luo Qianqian darted into the mall and returned after a while with a small pink Hello Kitty.

Xu Tianyi, looking at the small plush toy in Luo Qianqian’s hands, asked, baffled, ”Who is this for?”

”For you.” Luo Qianqian said, avoiding Xu Tianyi’s gaze, ”In case you miss me too much.”

Xu Tianyi smiled and took the plush toy.

At the airport, all the luggage had been checked in, except for a plush toy still in her bag.

Watching Luo Qianqian tearfully say goodbye, Luo Shufan comforted her for a while before saying to Xu Tianyi, ”Keep in touch, call when you can.”

”Okay.” Xu Tianyi hugged Luo Shufan, who playfully punched him twice, ”If anyone else made my little sister cry like this, I’d definitely have to fight them,” he said and then laughed.

He Wenyu was tied up and couldn’t come to the airport, Luo Qianqian wiped her tears, a look of reluctance on her face. Xu Tianyi glanced at Luo Shufan and then hugged Luo Qianqian under the ’murderous’ gaze of Luo Shufan, gently stroking her head, ”Be good, wait for me to come back.”

Luo Qianqian forgot to cry and watched as Xu Tianyi waved at her and left stylishly.

After waiting a long, long time, Luo Qianqian finally smiled through her tears.

”I’ll wait for you,” Luo Qianqian whispered.

Having ascended into the blue skies, Xu Tianyi seemed to sense Luo Qianqian’s response, took out the plush toy, and gently touched its little paws, ”You shall be called Qianqian.”
