Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 174: Chapter 162: The Beginning of School_2

”Pei Yuhao, nobody is treating you like a mute,” Luo Qianqian huffed, linking arms with Li Qi and marching forward. She then glanced back, ”Tianyi, have you put on some weight? Your face looks a bit off.”

Li Qi also turned around and seriously inspected Pei Yutian. After a moment, he said to Luo Qianqian with a smile tinged with tears, ”Can’t you see that his face is obviously swollen on one side?”

”You got hit?” Luo Qianqian exclaimed in shock. Who would be so bold as to hit such a big guy? Weren’t they afraid of being hit back? Then she thought of Xu Xiaoxiao, who had slapped her own face, grinding her teeth with anger, ”Tell me, who bullied you? I’ll help you get revenge!”

Pei Yuhao stood stunned for a moment before pointing at Pei Yutian’s face and bursting into loud laughter, Pei Yutian’s face glowing red.

”What’s so funny? Your brother is being bullied and you don’t help, are you even a brother?” Li Qi, seeing Pei Yuhao laughing so hard he was crouching with his hands over his stomach, could hardly contain his anger.

”He got hit?” Pei Yuhao pointed at Pei Yutian, then laughed again, ”Go on and get your revenge, I’ll show you the way. Don’t be shy, take action.”

”Tell me, who did it,” Luo Qianqian demanded with domineering spirit as she glared at Pei Yuhao.

”Chocolate, hard candies, soft candies, lollipops, cotton candy, sugar figurines, candied haws, pixie sticks, off you go, don’t stand on ceremony.” Pei Yuhao, looking at his brother whose face was turning a shade of red that seemed almost to bleed, couldn’t contain his mirth, ”Have plenty.”

”Cavity?” Luo Qianqian was taken aback, finally realizing why Pei Yuhao was laughing like that and why Pei Yutian’s face was flushed and not speaking. A hint of embarrassment crossed her face, ”You need to see a dentist, brush your teeth regularly, hmm.” Then, she pulled Li Qi and ran upstairs.

Li Qi, too, was stunned for a long moment before laughing unabashedly. They were actually planning to avenge Pei Yutian with candy—did that mean eating it all as form of revenge?

”Luo Qianqian.” As soon as she entered the classroom, she was greeted by a cool-looking girl.

”Shen Yan, happy New Year,” Luo Qianqian said with a squint and a smile.

”What about me?” Shen Yan’s deskmate, Han Lei, raised his head from the desk.

”You too...” Luo Qianqian was at a loss for words—was this a way to greet someone?

”Lie down, keep sleeping,” Shen Yan glanced at Han Lei and then looked away.

Han Lei lay down, but his eyes shone with curiosity. Shen Yan had brought a gift, a souvenir from their trip; it seemed to be for Luo Qianqian. He was curious to see how Shen Yan would give it to Luo Qianqian.

Luo Qianqian took out a pendant first—it was one of the Olympic mascots. She distributed one to everyone around her and to other good friends: ”I went to Capital City during the holidays. I wasn’t sure what to bring back, so I hope no one minds.” The boys received crystal pendants, and the girls got fist-sized plush dolls. Pei Yuhao, Pei Yutian, You Yong, Sui Jiao all got one. In total, she brought ten—five for the boys and five for the girls. There was one left for the boys and two for the girls. After a moment’s thought, she took the two pendants, one for a boy and one for a girl, and approached Shen Yan, ”For you, these are souvenirs. Please don’t look down on them.”

Luo Qianqian blinked, knowing that other than a few students whose parents had paid high sponsorship fees expecting their children to excel, everyone in the class was either rich or noble, and wouldn’t be impressed by such small trinkets. But it was the thought that counted.

”Thank you,” Shen Yan said, not expecting to receive one. She took out a delicate little box from her desk: ”A souvenir.”

”And one for me too?” Luo Qianqian said in unison with Han Lei.

Watching Shen Yan, Han Lei silently accepted the gift, thanked her, and then lay back down.

Luo Qianqian’s face lit up with surprise, ”Thank you.”

”You’re welcome,” Shen Yan blushed, ”You gave me one too, didn’t you?”

”Hehe, then I’ll accept it,” Luo Qianqian didn’t open the gift, as causing a stir over it would be improper. Then she happily went back to her seat.

”Luo Qianqian.” A familiar voice came from outside the classroom. Luo Qianqian felt sure the person calling her was here to give a gift, and she looked around and grabbed the remaining plush doll for girls.

The person at the door was indeed Gu Yanzhi, and just as she had predicted, he was there to give her a gift: ”For you.” Gu Yanzhi pulled out an exquisite little bag, ”It’s a snack.”

”Hehe, thank you. Here’s something for you.” Luo Qianqian took the bag and cheerfully stuffed the plush doll into Gu Yanzhi’s hands.

”Did you bring this for me?” Seeing that some others in Class Nine also had gifts, he breathed a sigh of relief: ”Thank you.”

”You’re welcome, you also brought me a gift, didn’t you?” Luo Qianqian smiled until her eyes disappeared, asking what most delighted her heart—it would surely be something delicious.

”The opening ceremony is about to start; I should head back,” Gu Yanzhi said, seeing the strange looks from his classmates passing by and quickly said goodbye.

”Us common folks are really truly happy,” Luo Qianqian said while holding the bag and returning to her seat.

”You won’t be happy in a minute,” Pei Yuhao said with a frown: ”I just went to the office and overheard that there will be an exam right after the opening ceremony. I haven’t even done my holiday homework, let alone take an exam; wuwu, I’m doomed.”

”Why wouldn’t I be happy?” Luo Qianqian couldn’t help but be grateful to her brother. Before school started, he made her read books and study, and she even wrote quite a few practice papers, so she was more than prepared for the exam.

”I forgot you are a top student,” Pei Yuhao turned to Pei Yutian: ”Bro, we are definitely doomed.”

”Bro, I’ve been studying to distract myself from not having any snacks to eat these days,” Pei Yutian said. Despite reading novels, that was still studying, and he even did two or three pages of homework.

”Wuwu, you’re not my brother,” Pei Yuhao said with a scowl: ”Luckily, I’m one step ahead and brought last term’s notes with me, haha.”

Luo Qianqian looked back and saw the notes were indeed correct, but all the answers to the example problems on them were wrong. She decided it would be kind to wait until after the exam to tell Pei Yuhao.
