King of the Wilderness

Chapter 749: Chapter 346: Risk of Capsizing, Coast Guard_2

Mike was preparing to deal with the crisis in front of him, his voice slightly hoarse from the surge of adrenaline.

As a captain and a father, at the moment of crisis, he instinctively took on the most dangerous task himself.

Like an experienced old lion, he lowered his body, clinging tightly to the deck, attempting to crawl to the storage box with the spare ropes beneath the wildly swinging boom.

However, the out-of-control boom was like a giant hammer swinging unpredictably, each swing carrying enough force to shatter bones under the combined strength of the wind and waves!

Mike tried several times to move forward but was forced back by the whistling wind that accompanied the boom. He was severely suppressed at the stern of the ship and couldn’t get close to the storage box.

The drone in the live stream shook violently in the air, striving to transmit this thrilling scene back to millions of viewers.

[Damn! Captain Mike can’t get there! He’s blocked!]

[That boom is terrifying, like a berserk battering ram!]

Just as Mike was at his wit’s end and Riven’s palms were sweating, a calm voice sounded behind them.

”This won’t work!”

Lin Yu’an was in a kneeling position, with no trace of panic in his eyes, staring intently at the wildly dancing boom like a hunter observing the flaws in its prey.

”The main sail isn’t fully down; it’s still catching the wind!” His speech was rapid, ”The hull, having lost the balance of the main sail, is being pushed to one side by the wind!”

”Our current heel angle has exceeded 20 degrees and is still increasing! If this continues, in a maximum of five minutes, the wind will completely overturn our entire ship!”

These words were a rude awakening, bringing Mike and Riven back to their senses from their rage and panic.

Instinctively, they glanced at the ship’s inclinometer, and sure enough, the needle was already pointing to a dangerously extreme angle!

They had been so focused on dealing with the out-of-control boom that they had overlooked this deadlier overturning crisis quietly descending upon them!

Viewers in the live stream, through the tightly fixed camera angle, could also clearly feel the unnatural tilt of the ship!

[Damn! Is the ship going to overturn?!]

[God Lin means if the boom isn’t controlled quickly, everyone’s going down together?!]

[What to do! Call for help now!]

Lin Yu’an had already made the most professional judgment, ”The only way is to immediately control the boom, then lower the main sail completely at the fastest speed to eliminate the wind pressure!”

He looked at Riven, his instructions short and clear, ”I’ll try to control it temporarily! Riven, seize the chance and get the rope! Quickly!”

”Are you crazy?! That thing will kill you!” Mike and Riven shouted out almost simultaneously!

Using one’s body to contend with an out-of-control boom seemed like suicide to them!

”There’s no time!” Lin Yu’an’s voice wasn’t loud, yet it carried an undeniable force, ”Trust me, do as I say!”

He didn’t give the two any chance to argue, like a leopard ready to pounce, slightly bending his knees, lowering his center of gravity, and his brain rapidly calculating the trajectory and energy conversion of the boom.

Riven lay on the deck, watching this with terror, not understanding how Lin Yu’an intended to control that deathly swinging arm.

At this moment, the experienced Captain Mike seemed to instantly see through Lin Yu’an’s wild intention, a flash of horror crossing his face, followed by resolution!

”Hey, Lin! Listen!” Mike roared with all his might, trying to make his voice penetrate the wind noise.

”If you’re going to do it, grab it at the moment it swings to the ship’s centerline! That’s its moment of torque conversion! Only at that moment is its sweeping force the smallest! Seize the opportunity!”

Mike’s words were not only a reminder to Lin Yu’an but also a crucial theoretical support for Lin Yu’an’s wild plan, drawing on his decades of maritime experience!

He knew hard resistance was suicide, but by using physical principles, there might just be a slim chance of survival!

[Torque conversion point?! Damn! The old captain’s experience is amazing!]

[Physics teacher: You actually got this right, me: Because I learned it from the physics class of life!]

Lin Yu’an’s eyes focused! Mike’s reminder perfectly aligned with the calculation results in his brain!

It’s now!

Just as the boom swung across the ship’s centerline, as kinetic energy began to convert into potential energy and sweeping force suddenly decreased, he leaped forward!

At the same time, Riven also moved! She trusted Lin Yu’an, and even more, she trusted her father! In the moment Lin Yu’an charged forward, drawing all ”hatred” from the boom.

Like an agile female leopard, she sprang from the deck, sprinting along the opposite side of the ship at full speed, darting towards the storage box!

This was an action filled with trust and tacit understanding!

Faced with the metal arm about to accelerate again, Lin Yu’an chose no form of hard resistance.

His target wasn’t the boom itself but the mainsail foot rope connected to the boom!

In the moment before the boom was about to gain destructive power again, he pounced forward, grabbing the end of the thick foot rope!

After grabbing the end of the rope, there was no pause or struggle against it.

He burst with core strength from his waist and abdomen, letting his whole body follow the massive inertia of the boom’s swing, quickly wrapping the rope around the sturdy mast at the center of the ship!
