King of the Wilderness

Chapter 716: Chapter 337: Cooperating with the Police Investigation! (3)

The roughness and strength of the palm conveyed the most direct emotion of a soldier.

”Teacher Lin,” his voice was incredibly sincere, ”in this mission, you are not just a guide, but also our comrade. At the most critical moment, you were the eyes for us.”

He paused, then added solemnly, ”On behalf of the Blade Group, I extend the highest military respect to you!”

Lin Yu’an returned the handshake, his gaze sweeping over these young and strong soldiers, his heart filled with emotion.

”Captain Yang, you overestimate me. My skills are nothing to mention; you are the real heroes carrying burdens forward, safeguarding the peace of our country!”

Yang Zhen grinned, revealing a set of white teeth. This smile softened the stern lines on his face, making him appear especially hearty.

”Whether a hero or not, it’s all in the line of duty.” He shifted the conversation, a look of longing and anticipation flashing in his eyes.

”To be honest, Teacher Lin, cooperating with you this time has opened my eyes. Watching your calmness and your ability to integrate with nature in the mountains, I truly admire you from the bottom of my heart.”

He looked at the distant dark mountain range, speaking as if to himself, or as if making a promise: ”One day, when I take off this military uniform, or have a long holiday, I will definitely come to find you.”

”No talk of missions, no talk of captures, just as an ordinary person, to truly engage in a wilderness survival adventure with you!”

These words made Lin Yu’an smile as well, he could feel the sincerity and mutual appreciation behind this invitation.

”No problem!” He nodded solemnly, ”You are welcome any time. Then I’ll show you a different scenery.”

”It’s a deal!” Yang Zhen nodded firmly.

A simple agreement, like a silent pact between men.

”Alright, I won’t keep you any longer.” Yang Zhen withdrew his gaze, resuming his role as captain, ”The subsequent matters will be handled properly by the public security colleagues, please rest assured. Take care!”

”You take care too!” Lin Yu’an said sincerely as he looked at the soldiers.

Yang Zhen put on his helmet, turned around, leaving only a solid back, and shouted to the others, ”All units, organize your gear, prepare to withdraw!”

”Yes!”

The soldiers waved to Lin Yu’an once again, then quickly and orderly began their busy tasks.

Watching them operate like a precise machine, this short encounter may come to an end, but the friendship forged in gunfire and jungle will be forever remembered.

...

That night, in a brightly lit office at the Kunming Public Security Bureau, Lin Yu’an had just completed a detailed statement that lasted several hours.

He recounted the entire process of how he discovered traces of poachers, how he encountered the Blade Group, and how he assisted them in tracking and locking onto the target.

Just as he signed the papers, preparing to leave the interrogation room, a police officer pushed the door open and came in, followed by several middle-aged men in suits, looking rushed.

”Teacher Lin, thank you for your hard work.” Li Jian Country first shook hands with him, then turned to formally introduce him.

”This is Director Liang Wenbin of the Kunming City Culture and Tourism Bureau. Upon receiving our report, he was very concerned about your safety and came over overnight.”

”Yu’an! You scared me to death!”

The intimate and urgent call of Yu’an instantly left Li Jian Country and other public security officers stunned for a moment, then exchanged a knowing look.

They quickly understood that the internationally renowned wilderness expert before them had a close personal relationship with the head of the City Culture and Tourism Bureau.

Liang Wenbin looked Lin Yu’an up and down, and only after confirming he wasn’t injured, did he finally breathe a sigh of relief, but his face still showed a complex expression of relief and blame.

”What were you thinking, doing an extreme challenge, yet taking down an armed criminal group along the way? My heart can’t take such a scare! What will I say if the old secretary asks later?”

These words, seemingly complaints, were actually filled with closeness and concern, cleverly pointing out Lin Yu’an’s importance, even the top officials are paying attention to him.

Lin Yu’an smiled a bit sheepishly: ”Uncle Liang, sorry to make you worry, but I’m fine.”

Li Jian Country was a smart man; from their conversation, he immediately understood the deep relationship between Lin Yu’an and this head of the Culture and Tourism Bureau, and the significance of Liang Wenbin personally coming over at night.

He stepped forward, first addressing Liang Wenbin: ”Director Liang, rest assured, Mr. Lin has been a great help to us this time, a hero of great merit!”

”Our public security system will make a special note of his contributions, ensuring that heroes do not shed both sweat and tears.”

These words were flawlessly delivered, affirming Lin Yu’an’s contributions while also giving enough face to the city leaders.

Then, he shifted the focus back to Lin Yu’an.

Though his tone remained polite, his gaze returned to the seriousness and rigor expected of an experienced detective.

”However, Director Liang, Mr. Lin,” he deliberately addressed them both in parallel, ”rules are rules. There are some procedures that still require Mr. Lin’s cooperation.”

He instructed a young police officer beside him: ”Little Liu, immediately list the inventory of Teacher Lin’s equipment, have Mr. Lin sign to confirm, then swiftly send it to the technical department and network security squad.”

”Have them expedite the review! Be sure to complete the review of all visual materials within seventy-two hours, and make a copy of non-confidential content.”

Then, he told Lin Yu’an: ”Mr. Lin, the statement is finished; you can return to the hotel to rest first. We will contact you by phone if there is any need for your cooperation.”

”However,” Li Jian Country raised his hand, adding the most crucial point in a gentle yet firm tone.

”Mr. Lin, I must formally inform you that before the case investigation is concluded, you cannot leave Kunming City.”
