King of the Wilderness

Chapter 707: Chapter 334: Poaching Gang, Add to Their Crimes! (4)

But now, the place was empty, leaving only a pile of campfire ashes thoroughly extinguished by the rain and the clear impressions left by two tents.

”They’ve already left!” Xiaowang whispered nervously, gripping the steel gun tighter.

”Don’t panic.” Yang Zhen’s voice was as steady as a mountain, ”They can’t be far. They wouldn’t risk traveling in thick fog and darkness before dawn. They’ve left here less than an hour ago.”

He turned to Lin Yu’an, eyes full of trust: ”Teacher Lin, it’s up to you now. We need to confirm their final destination.”

”Understood.”

Once Yang Zhen gave the order, the group swiftly slid down to the abandoned camp below.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the riverbank. The air still carried the mixed smell of campfire and moisture.

Lin Yu’an ignored the tent marks and walked straight to the pile of campfire ashes, starting to interpret the language left by the camp.

He picked out some animal remains from the edge of the ashes that were not fully burned, showing obvious human carving marks.

”Bear bones.” He identified at a glance, ”They were processing last night’s spoils, discarding unnecessary weight. But leaving these behind means they left in a hurry.”

He quickly found a few charred bones at the edge of the ashes, picking up a relatively intact scapula to examine closely.

”The size and shape of this bone... It’s a red muntjac, a nationally protected second-level animal.”

His voice carried a cold anger, ”These bastards even hunted a young red muntjac for dinner.”

”Damn them!” Xiaowang cursed bitterly.

But suddenly, Lin Yu’an’s actions paused sharply.

From the deepest part of the ash, he picked out a nearly completely carbonized skull.

The skull was the size of a baby’s fist, but the most shocking was its disproportionately large round eye sockets.

Lin Yu’an’s pupils instantly contracted to the extreme!

”Slow loris...” He squeezed out these two words through gritted teeth.

Yang Zhen and several soldiers immediately crowded over, staring at the small alien-like skull with bewilderment.

”A nationally protected first-level animal, slow loris! Also known as the lazy monkey! They... even eat this kind of thing!”

He stood up and said to Yang Zhen, ”Captain, it can be 100% confirmed now, among these people, there is at least one local familiar with the area!”

”How so?”

”Because of the foolish custom that eating slow loris is greatly nutritious! This cannot be a purely foreign poaching gang. Outsiders only care about bear gallbladders and paws, commodities that can directly exchange for big money.”

This discovery was more egregious than any previous clue. It fully exposed these poachers’ evil nature without reverence for life.

He glanced at Lin Yu’an, eyes filled with suppressive anger and seriousness: ”Teacher Lin, this discovery is extremely valuable! Keep looking to see if there are any other findings.”

Lin Yu’an nodded, his eyes becoming as sharp as an eagle, scanning over the messy footprints, finally locking onto a muddy grass path at the camp’s edge.

He pointed to the direction of the path, ”Most footprints shamelessly head this way, this path should lead to the Lao Ya Gold Mine.”

”They processed the bear pieces here, roasted muntjac meat, all actions indicate they don’t plan to venture deeper into the jungle, preparing for their exit.”

He squatted down again, pointing at the remains of the red muntjac, ”They only ate part of it, leaving bones with lots of meat behind.”

”Because their backpacks are already stuffed with more valuable game! They don’t want to add even this little weight!”

”They are rushing to the Lao Ya Gold Mine’s rendezvous point at full speed! Our previous judgment was completely correct!”

”Good!” Yang Zhen fiercely punched the air, all doubts vanished. He immediately grabbed the communicator.

”Command center, we have arrived at the enemy’s camping site last night! Based on the traces left at the scene, the enemy departed an hour ago, final target confirmed as Lao Ya Gold Mine!”

”Repeat, target confirmed as Lao Ya Gold Mine! My unit is about to commence the final stage of pursuit! Requesting authorization!”

”Authorized! Blade Group, stay safe!”

A long-awaited encirclement battle, in the dawn’s light, officially entered the final countdown!
