King of the Wilderness

Chapter 703: Chapter 333: The Power of Technology (Part 3)

He reported a series of precise coordinates, ”The target consists of four people, three dogs, at least two tents. The camp is set up in the middle of the riverbank, with a campfire. Repeat, four people, three dogs!”

”Based on the current intelligence, and Comrade Lin Yu’an’s professional judgment, we confirm that this location is most likely the contact point between the poaching syndicate and the outside world!”

Yang Zhen’s voice became steady and full of killing intent, his thoughts completely synchronizing with Lin Yu’an’s strategy.

”Therefore, I request the command to adopt a new final plan. Our unit will abandon the proactive raid and switch to the highest level of covert surveillance.”

”Become a nail planted here, providing the command with 24-hour uninterrupted real-time intelligence.”

”Our target is no longer these little fish. We want to catch the big fish coming to contact them!”

”I request the command to use the entire night and tomorrow’s daytime to deploy all available forces.”

”Set up a tight, covert, and silent net around all possible land and water routes near Bison Flats.”

”Our unit will be responsible for monitoring the poaching syndicate and transmitting key intelligence such as target characteristics, vehicles, and personnel numbers to the command in real-time as soon as contact personnel appear.”

”When they are caught red-handed, the command will unify the order and close the net to capture these two groups of criminals in one fell swoop!”

This is no longer a simple capture plan. This is a plan full of patience! Its core is to use these poachers as bait to catch the larger criminal network behind them!

In the headset, there was a brief silence from the command, evidently evaluating this bolder and more risky plan.

A few minutes later, a more authoritative voice sounded: ”Plan approved! Yang Zhen, your Blade Group, is our eyes planted in the heart of the enemy!”

”Remember your mission—surveillance! Covert! Absolutely no exposure before closing the net!”

”Mission guaranteed!” Yang Zhen replied decisively.

After the call ended, Yang Zhen put down the transmitter. The atmosphere of the entire camp instantly changed from the previous urge for revenge to a deeper patient lurking.

Yang Zhen glanced at Lin Yu’an, his eyes filled with unprecedented trust and appreciation. The two exchanged a glance, forming a silent understanding between them.

At this moment, a rustling sound came from outside the rock shelter.

At first, the sound was faint, like silkworms gnawing at mulberry leaves. But within a few breaths, the sound suddenly intensified, turning into a torrential downpour.

”It’s raining!” Yang Zhen ran to the edge of the rock shelter and looked at the dense rain curtain outside, clicking his tongue, ”What a heavy rain!”

The cold rain, mixed with the mountain wind, rushed into the rock shelter, making the already cold night even harsher. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Everyone instinctively moved closer to the campfire, and the flames began to flicker unsteadily under the assault of wind and rain.

Lin Yu’an looked at the rain curtain that could wash away everything, showing a hint of relief on his face: ”Fortunately, we came after them today.”

”With such heavy rain, all traces on the ground will be washed away completely. Trying to find them then would be like finding a needle in a haystack.”

Yang Zhen also showed a hint of relief, glancing at the heavy rain outside, ”Yes, thankfully we came immediately, but with the rain being so heavy, it’s just the right time to eat!”

”Squad leader! Take two people and pull our military raincoats on the outside of the rock shelter to make a simple drain! Collect the rainwater!”

”Yes!”

Three warriors immediately took action, quickly connecting three large raincoats with ropes, cleverly using the slant of the rock wall to create a large inclined catchment surface.

Rainwater gathered along the smooth surface of the raincoats, eventually forming a continuous stream, precisely pouring into their military canteens and cooking pots placed below.

Lin Yu’an said, ”We can indeed have a meal now. Let’s eat something hot and try my cooking.”

He stood up, taking out the fresh bamboo shoots collected during the day, the banana stem, and the few pieces of grilled fish he had carefully prepared.

”Captain,” he said, ”let’s save the compressed biscuits for emergencies. Let’s eat something hot tonight.”

Without waiting for Yang Zhen’s response, he set about his work.

He sliced the bamboo shoots into thin pieces with a tactical knife and wrapped the sliced bamboo shoots, banana core, and shredded fish meat inside, making a few baked bundles, then buried them in the hottest embers at the edge of the campfire.

”The principle of baking is the same, using banana leaves to lock in moisture and aroma, allowing the food to slowly stew under the heat of the charcoal. This way, the bamboo shoots come out tender and sweet.”

Seeing Lin Yu’an’s busy figure, the young soldier named Xiaowang glanced at the compressed biscuit in his hand, then at the captain, and said somewhat embarrassedly in a low voice:

”Teacher Lin...actually...we brought rations...”

Lin Yu’an didn’t lift his head, happily saying, ”I know, but compressed biscuits and energy bars can’t beat the taste of hot baked bamboo shoots. Don’t worry, there will definitely be enough to eat.”

Xiaowang’s expression became a bit awkward, and he looked at Yang Zhen again, his eyes carrying a hint of a plea for help.

A slight, barely noticeable smile flashed across Yang Zhen’s face. He signaled Xiaowang with a look, indicating that he should stop talking.

Then, he turned his head and said to Lin Yu’an with a somewhat expectant tone, ”Alright. Then tonight, we’ll look forward to Teacher Lin’s wilderness feast.”

Lin Yu’an did not notice the subtleties in this and only took it as an enthusiastic request from the captain, working even more diligently.

More than half an hour later, when the banana leaves were grilled to a charred yellow and emitted a strong aroma of plant char, Lin Yu’an knew the time was right.
