King of the Wilderness

Chapter 712: Chapter 336: Modern Warfare Patterns (Part 2)

Yang Zhen nodded, his gaze shifted to the still-standing Uncle Ghost, the muzzle of his gun always pointed at the other, and coldly said, ”You, get down!”

Uncle Ghost glanced at Yang Zhen, then at his men wailing on the ground and the scattered cash, gave a sinister smile, ”You... won’t catch me.”

As he spoke, he rubbed his nose with his index finger, as if wiping snot.

Just as he finished speaking, an extremely strong sense of danger suddenly gripped every nerve of Lin Yu’an at the vantage point he and Xiaoli were on!

This wasn’t relying on the eyes, nor the ears, but a Sixth Sense honed on the edge of countless life-and-death situations!

”Xiaoli! Something’s wrong!” Lin Yu’an almost shouted, ”Quick! Turn on the thermal imaging, full scan of the surrounding ridges! Hurry!”

Xiaoli was startled by Lin Yu’an’s sudden reaction, but without hesitation, he immediately raised the drone to its maximum height, switching to thermal imaging scanning mode.

The image on the tablet screen quickly switched, the originally colorful mountain forest turned into a world of thermal energy composed of blue, green, yellow, and red.

”Scanning... left ridge normal... rear ridge normal... right side...” Xiaoli’s voice suddenly paused, his pupils contracted to the extreme.

”Found it! Yang, behind your right, at seven o’clock direction, another vantage point! There is an isolated humanoid heat source!”

He quickly switched back to optical imaging, pulling the lens focus to maximum.

On the screen, a figure in ghillie camouflage, almost blending into the mountainside, lay prone behind a rock.

The most alarming was the weapon in his hands, sleek lines, a long gun body, equipped with an optical sight, it was clearly a Dragunov SVD sniper rifle!

”Sniper!” Xiaoli’s voice burst through the throat mic, like thunder in everyone’s earpieces, ”Captain Yang! Seven o’clock direction, top of the ridge there’s an enemy sniper! Everyone take cover!”

The eerie sentence from the old farmer, combined with Xiaoli’s screaming warning, made Yang Zhen immediately understand everything!

This old farmer had to have his trump card attending alone, and that hidden sniper was his last insurance!

”Take cover!” Yang Zhen roared, simultaneously his body already reacting, pouncing towards a nearby abandoned cement post.

But, it was already too late.

The sniper was evidently not waiting for orders, but for the best moment to eliminate threats. Uncle Ghost’s action was his signal to move!

”Puff!”

A sound like a thick cloth being torn echoed.

The young poacher who had been counting money earlier, suddenly convulsed.

A flamboyant bloody flower exploded on his chest where his heart was. The greed and excitement on his face froze forever, incredulously looking down at his chest.

Then, like a chopped log, he fell straight back, the cash beneath him quickly soaked in blood.

One shot, one kill!

This bloody scene instantly ignited chaos on the scene.

All members of the Blade Group used nearby cover for evasion the first moment.

During this brief moment of chaos as everyone sought cover, Uncle Ghost made his move!

That seemingly old body exploded with amazing power and speed, sprinting to his tricycle with agility, jumping onto the vehicle, turning the key, and twisting the throttle hard!

”Put-put-put...” The old tricycle roared, turned its head, and tried to escape onto the dirt road.

”Don’t let him get away!” A quick-reacting soldier shouted, ready to dart out from behind the cover to pursue.

”Bang!”

Another gunshot! A 7.62mm sniper bullet, whistling with deadly intent, nearly grazed his helmet as it flew by!

Finally, it embedded itself into the cement wall beside him, blasting out a large shower of cement fragments! The cold Killing Intent instantly drenched him in cold sweat, forcing him to retreat awkwardly back behind cover.

”No pursuit allowed! Everyone find solid cover! Protect yourselves!” Yang Zhen immediately shouted commands, his voice terrifyingly calm.

He knew clearly that in the face of an excellent sniper with an unknown location, any rash pursuit would be akin to suicide!

The handcuffed criminals squirmed like frightened maggots, desperately trying to find any place to hide, letting out waves of terrified screams.

Boss Wang scrambled on his butt toward the back of an ATV.

The sniper’s objective was clear, create chaos to suppress the armed police, covering Uncle Ghost’s escape!

”Da-da-da-da!”

The soldiers from the Blade Group were no pushovers. Under Yang Zhen’s orders, they no longer attempted pursuit, but quickly repositioned, relying on solid cover.

Then based on the direction of gunfire, they performed a rough suppression of fire towards the ridge where the sniper was.

The battlefield situation instantly switched from capture to passive standoff.

Yang Zhen hid behind the cement post, his eyes red with anger.

A suspect was shot dead right under his nose, the main perpetrator was escaping, and his own team was heavily suppressed, this was a huge humiliation to him!

He shouted into the throat mic, ”Hawkeye! Why wasn’t the sniper detected in advance! Answer me!”

”Report, Captain! It was my negligence!” Xiaoli’s voice was filled with anxiety and deep self-blame.

”When we arrived, I scanned all vantage points with thermal imaging, there were no signs of him at that time! He... he must have only just arrived!”
