Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”Is that okay?”

Xu Yun said irritably, ”We haven’t seen each other in a while, and you’ve gotten awfully forward. You’ve gotten really thick-skinned.”

”I don’t want to be like this either.”

Huang Mengyao said with a self-deprecating laugh, ”If you were in my shoes, starving and eating only one meal a day, you wouldn’t care about dignity either.”

”Is that my fault?”

Xu Yun laughed in exasperation. ”Even if I was a nobody back then, if you had just married me and settled down, your life would still be better than it is now.”

”This is all Wang Qing’s fault! If it wasn’t for her...”

”You’re still blaming that best friend of yours, even now.”

Xu Yun sneered. ”Flies aren’t drawn to an egg that isn’t cracked. If you weren’t swayed yourself, could she have ever egged you on? Could her little scheme have ever succeeded?”

”Xu Yun, I know it was all my fault before...”

Huang Mengyao said remorsefully, ”I regret it now. I just want to ask you to help me... help me...”

”Alright, stop talking.”

Xu Yun cut her off immediately. ”You want me to help you? That’s absolutely impossible. I’m no saint.

I’m already being extremely magnanimous by letting you sit at this table with me and buying you noodles.”

”Xu Yun, please just help me. Help me get away from Zhang Wentao. I’ll agree to any condition you name.”

Huang Mengyao burst into tears. ”You saw what happened earlier. Every day, he either snatches the money I work so hard for to go gambling, or he comes home drunk at night and beats me. Sometimes he even tries to force me to work at a massage parlor. I really can’t take it anymore.”

”You have your own two feet. Don’t you know how to run away?”

”I can’t escape.”

Huang Mengyao hesitated before shaking her head in despair. ”He has intimate videos of us, and all sorts of photos. If I dare to defy him, he’ll post them all online.

Xu Yun, I’m only begging you because I’m truly out of options.”

”...”

’Wow, her life is even more miserable than I imagined!’

’Serves her right!’

’What did they expect, a pair of shameless cheats who like to film their little home movies?’

”Xu Yun, I know you’re very capable and rich now.”

”Don’t say that. I have nothing. I’m just an ordinary guy.”

”If you just help me get away from Zhang Wentao, I promise I’ll work hard and pay you back the money I owe you.”

Huang Mengyao assured him, ”I’ve always wanted to pay you back, but he snatches every penny I make. I can’t save a thing.”

Xu Yun asked in confusion, ”Why don’t you go to your parents?”

”My parents kicked me out of the house a long time ago. They don’t care about me anymore.”

Huang Mengyao said, her heart like dead embers, ”They only have eyes for my younger brother now. They couldn’t care less if I live or die.”

”Sorry, I can’t help you either.”

Xu Yun said lightly, ”But I can give you a piece of advice.”

”What advice?”

”If you’re in trouble, go to the police.”

Xu Yun finished his noodles and stood up. ”You should report it. Maybe the police can help. I have to go, I have things to do.”

”...”

A short while after Xu Yun left, Huang Mengyao also got ready to leave, but the owner stopped her.

”Miss, you haven’t paid for your noodles yet.”

....

Xu Yun hadn’t actually meant to do it. He was already partway to his destination when he remembered that he hadn’t paid for his noodles.

’She should have enough for that, right?’

Xu Yun muttered to himself, then got in his car and drove off.

’Besides, she still owes me money anyway.’

’Worst case, I’ll just deduct the cost of the noodles from the 70,000 she still owes me.’

Xu Yun, who wouldn’t bat an eye at spending over a hundred thousand on a woman, was paradoxically unwilling to take even the slightest loss on this matter.

A moment later, he arrived at the fitness center.

Li Jinshu’s call came in as well.

”Hello? Where did you run off to? President Yang called me. She said she’s here, but you’re nowhere to be found.”

”I’m almost there. I stopped to grab some noodles on the way, so I got a little delayed.”

”When you see her in a bit, be nice. Don’t scare her off like you did yesterday.”

”Er, I won’t.”

After hanging up, Xu Yun went to the fourth floor and saw Yang Siqi in his office, drinking a glass of water.

Zhang Jiaxin was keeping her company.

When she saw Xu Yun arrive, she made the introductions and then excused herself.

”President Yang, hello.”

Xu Yun complimented her, ”You look even more beautiful than you did yesterday.”

He was being sincere.

Although Yang Siqi was in her thirties, she took excellent care of herself and had an enduring, mature charm.

Yang Siqi looked at Xu Yun, stood, and smiled. ”President Xu, hello. We meet again. I’m getting on in years; I can’t compare to a young and successful man like yourself.”

From her earlier conversation with Zhang Jiaxin, she now knew that this high-end fitness center, currently under renovation, actually belonged to the man before her.

And Li Jinshu was just the manager in charge of running it for him.

With that, she took a small gift bag from her purse and offered it to Xu Yun. ”This is a little something for you, President Xu. I hope you like it.”

”You’re too kind, President Yang, but please, take the gift back.”

Xu Yun refused. ”Just bring out the contract,” he said. ”I’ll take a look, and if there are no issues, I’ll sign it with you for President Li.”

”Of course, President Xu.”

Yang Siqi took out her copy of the contract and placed it in front of Xu Yun.

”President Li and I already agreed on the price yesterday. If you think it’s not suitable, we can certainly discuss it further.”

”No need. She’s the one managing this fitness center, so she calls the shots. She just dragged me over here today to do the grunt work.”

Xu Yun gave the terms a quick glance, and seeing no obvious pitfalls, he signed his name without hesitation.

”Alright, that’s done.” Xu Yun handed one copy of the contract back to her.

”Thank you, President Xu.”

Yang Siqi put the contract away and extended an invitation. ”It’s almost lunchtime. To celebrate our new partnership, might I have the honor of treating you to a meal?”
