Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”Sigh after sigh, Jinshu weaves at her door.

The sound of the shuttle can’t be heard, only the maiden’s sighs.

Ask the maiden what she thinks, ask the maiden what she remembers. The maiden thinks of nothing, the maiden remembers nothing.

Last night she saw Xu Yun, the Great Khan drafting his great army. The muster rolls were twelve scrolls long, and on every scroll was her name.”

The sun was already high in the sky. Li Jinshu and Xu Yun were a truly relentless pair.

Afterward, she lay on the sofa to recuperate, complaining playfully, ”Yesterday, I honestly thought I was going to die.”

”You’re one to talk. I feel like I lost ten pounds.”

Xu Yun recalled their activities from the previous night and couldn’t help but laugh. ”Next time, can you try to take it a little easier? Don’t act like you’re an addict getting a fix.”

Li Jinshu said innocently, ”I only kept going because I saw your enthusiasm wasn’t fading. I didn’t want to spoil your fun.”

”...” Xu Yun was speechless.

’Thanks a lot,’ he thought. ’My back nearly gave out!’

Li Jinshu took a sip of water and said wearily, ”I’m not going to be able to leave the house today. Can you go to the fitness center and sign the purchase contract with President Yang for me?”

”Alright, President Li.”

Xu Yun whined, ”Pulling an all-nighter with you, and then I have to work for you during the day. I’m nothing but a workhorse, aren’t I?”

”Oh, screw you. If it wasn’t for you, do you think I’d be the one stuck in bed?”

Li Jinshu shot him a look, then smiled. ”Besides, whose fitness center is it, anyway? I’m the one working for you.”

”Alright, alright, President Li. I’m on my way. Happy now?”

Xu Yun changed into his clothes and said, ”Order some takeout for lunch. Get yourself something good.

Actually, on second thought, I’ll just have Yu Xuan bring you something.”

”Thank you, Boss.”

Li Jinshu waved, a happy smile on her face. ”Take care, Boss. Don’t forget to work hard!”

”...” Xu Yun was at a loss for words.

Xu Yun drove off. Seeing that the contract signing Li Jinshu had scheduled was still a little while away, he casually parked his car on the side of the road.

He decided to find a noodle shop and grab a bowl of noodles with fried bean sauce and peas, figuring he’d fill his stomach before heading to the fitness center.

But who would have known that after taking just a few steps, he would spot his ex-girlfriend, Huang Mengyao, and Zhang Wentao just a short distance ahead.

Neither of them noticed Xu Yun, however.

It turned out that Zhang Wentao had lost everything to gambling. His wife had left him, so he had come back to pester Huang Mengyao.

She used to be the leech, but now she was the one being bled dry by a degenerate gambler.

If Huang Mengyao refused to give him money, he would beat her and threaten to release intimate videos of them to her relatives and on her social media.

Now, Huang Mengyao was completely intimidated and under his thumb. Her life was a living hell.

At that moment, as they were eating noodles, Zhang Wentao was once again demanding money from Huang Mengyao.

Huang Mengyao seemed reluctant to give him any.

So, Zhang Wentao reached over to grab her purse, intending to take the money himself.

Huang Mengyao reached out to stop him, but this only enraged Zhang Wentao, who landed a vicious slap across her face.

He then kicked her to the ground.

”You bitch! I’ve been letting you get away with too much in public, haven’t I?”

Zhang Wentao cursed viciously, then said, ”After you finish eating, go find a job and earn some money for me. I’ll deal with you properly when I get home tonight.”

With that, he took what little money was in her wallet, threw the purse on the ground, and walked away.

Huang Mengyao scrambled to her feet, tears of humiliation streaming down her face. She bent over to pick up the items that had spilled from her purse.

But as she bent down to grab the last item, a tube of lipstick, someone else picked it up first.

”Here.”

”Thank you.”

Huang Mengyao replied automatically, but when she looked up, she saw Xu Yun’s face.

Shock, embarrassment, and humiliation washed over her features.

Compared to when they had been together, Huang Mengyao looked like a completely different person. Her face was sallow, her skin was dry, she was wearing cheap clothes, and all the jewelry she used to wear was gone.

It was as if she had aged ten years overnight.

Xu Yun remembered what Lawyer Luo had told him.

It had been confirmed that she couldn’t repay the money, so they had applied to the court for compulsory enforcement of the debt.

She didn’t have any property or real estate to her name. After seizing the 30,000 yuan in her bank account, she still owed another 70,000.

However, as long as she had a job, her wages would be automatically garnished until the debt was paid in full.

She was also placed on the national list of defaulters, which meant she couldn’t get loans, make high-end purchases, or travel by high-speed rail, among other restrictions.

Xu Yun had listened to the report at the time, but that was all. ’What does any of that have to do with me?’

Seeing her in such a state today, Xu Yun still didn’t feel a shred of pity.

”You’re welcome.” Xu Yun casually handed her the lipstick and turned to continue his search for a place to eat.

”Xu Yun.” Watching his back as he walked past her like a complete stranger, Huang Mengyao couldn’t hold it in any longer and called out to him.

Xu Yun turned to look at her, a questioning look on his face. ”Yes?”

”Do you have a minute?”

Huang Mengyao forced a smile. ”I was hoping we could talk.”

”Talk about what? Are you going to pay me back?”

”...” Huang Mengyao.

”Fine,” he said. ”I’m going to get a bowl of noodles. You can come if you want.”

So, Huang Mengyao followed Xu Yun to a nearby noodle shop.

The owner saw the two of them come in, glanced at the bruises on Huang Mengyao’s face, and then stared at Xu Yun with a strange expression.

Xu Yun said in frustration, ”Hey, Owner, don’t look at me like that. I didn’t hit her, she’s not my girlfriend, and I don’t hit women.”

”That’s right, Owner. I don’t know him.”

Huang Mengyao chimed in, ”I just fell down earlier.”

Seeing the owner’s expression, which clearly said he’d be an idiot to believe them, Xu Yun was even more exasperated.

”Alright, if you don’t know what to say, then don’t say anything,”

Xu Yun snapped at Huang Mengyao, then asked out of pure formality, ”Are you getting noodles?”
