Super Rich by Doing as You Please

”Alright, alright, let’s not worry about the details.”

Xu Yun couldn’t help but laugh. ”If you want to talk, let’s go to your room. It’s not convenient here with so many people around.”

”What’s there to talk about in a room? We’d just be staring at each other. Wouldn’t that be even more boring?”

Xino said, ”Let me take you to a bar for a drink.”

”I don’t feel like going out. I’m a bit tired today.”

”We don’t have to. This hotel has a restaurant and bar.”

Xino replied, ”It’s just on the 27th floor. Super close. If we get drunk, we can come right back to the room and sleep.”

”Fine, I’ll have a drink with you for a bit.”

Since it was the hotel’s in-house bar, the patrons were all guests, so it wasn’t crowded. In fact, it was rather quiet.

The two entered, found seats at the bar, and Xino ordered drinks with practiced ease.

Behind the bar, the bartender got to work.

A moment later, two very stylish-looking cocktails appeared, placed one in front of each of them.

Xu Yun took a sip. It tasted surprisingly good.

Perhaps it was his Thousand Cups Unintoxicated Skill at work, allowing him to actually appreciate the quality of the drink.

Before, drinking just meant one thing to him: a burning throat.

Xu Yun asked, puzzled, ”What brings you to Rongcheng all of a sudden, and by yourself?”

”If you can be here, why can’t I?”

Xino took a sip of her drink and replied, ”I’m here on official business, representing my father.”

”Family business?”

”No. What do I know about business? I only know how to spend money.”

Xino shook her head. ”A friend of my dad’s is holding a charity auction here tomorrow night.”

”I’m here representing him. I’m supposed to see if there’s anything I like and bid on one or two items to take back, just to show I did my part.”

”What are they auctioning?”

”Probably the usual stuff—jewelry, paintings, calligraphy, cultural artifacts, that sort of thing.”

Xino looked at him and smiled. ”If you’re interested, you should come with me tomorrow night.”

”Would that be alright?”

Xu Yun said, ”I don’t have an invitation.”

’He’d never been to a charity auction before and was genuinely curious to see what it was like.’

”You won’t need an invitation if you’re with me.”

Xino said proudly, ”I’m the only invitation you need.”

”Alright, then. I was planning on heading back tomorrow, but in that case, I’ll stick with you tomorrow night.”

”Okay, we can head back together after.”

Xino said, ”And I’ll get to experience your private jet.”

”I don’t have a private jet.”

Xu Yun explained, ”I don’t know where you heard that. It was just a charter plane.”

”Er...” Xino was at a loss for words.

’So it was a charter, not a private jet.’

’Chartering a plane was pretty common. For such a short distance, it would probably only cost a few hundred thousand.’

’If she really wanted to, she could charter one herself!’

Xino had the bartender mix them another round of drinks, then asked in return, ”So what about you? Did you come to Rongcheng just to go on a date with some other woman?”

”Yep.”

”Wow. Chartering a plane for a date. You’re something else.”

Xino asked, ”Is she that beautiful? For you to spend so much on her.”

”When you meet someone you really like, money is no object.”

Xu Yun said, ”All that matters is being happy. Money can always be earned back.”

”Then can you bring me along to make money?”

Xino said with a hopeful expression, ”I heard you opened a media company and you’re shooting short-form dramas. Sounds like it’s really profitable.”

”Did Yan Can tell you?”

”Mhm, and he was bragging to me about how he’s about to start making money soon.”

Xu Yun asked, puzzled, ”You’re not short on cash, and with your brother in the picture, you won’t have to take over your dad’s company. So why are you so obsessed with making money?”

”I’m just so bored all the time. I want to find something to do.”

Xino said, ”Why don’t you let me join in?”

”That company... while it’s technically mine, I don’t manage it. I’ve left it in someone else’s hands.”

Xu Yun hesitated for a moment, then said, ”Let’s wait. You should save up some money first. When an opportunity comes up, I’ll get in touch with you.”

”It’s a deal! A promise is a promise.”

Xino said happily, ”Then I’ll start saving money right now.”

”Aren’t you afraid you’ll lose money if you follow my lead?”

”I don’t mind. I’m willing to lose it all.”

Xu Yun: ”...”

’Jeez, another one who doesn’t treat money like it’s real.’

’I had a system to back me up, but she was like a whale in a video game, spending whatever it took just to be happy.’

After that, they chatted casually about various topics, like music, movies, and so on.

Without realizing it, they went drink after drink, downing quite a bit of alcohol.

As the conversation flowed, it eventually turned to their love lives.

Xino asked Xu Yun to tell her about his relationship history. Having had a bit to drink and feeling the urge to vent, Xu Yun gave her the general outline.

When he mentioned being dumped by a girl for being too poor, she immediately thought he was lying.

’What kind of high and mighty heiress would have the right to look down on *him* for being poor?’

Xino figured Xu Yun must have been pretending to be poor to test the girl.

’She had friends like that back in school—people who would pretend to be poor for fun, just to ’experience life’.’

Xu Yun insisted he was genuinely poor back then, not just pretending.

But Xino refused to believe him.

There was nothing Xu Yun could do about it. She could believe him or not.

Then Xino asked him what his type was.

Xu Yun’s answer: a beautiful woman with a big chest and a big butt.

Xino glanced down at her own figure and was instantly displeased.

’She was great in every other aspect, but those two areas were... underdeveloped. A natural deficiency.’

They drank for a while longer, to the point where even the bartender was impressed by their capacity for alcohol.

He figured they had each put away nearly a liter’s worth of alcohol.

He knew how potent the kick was on the cocktails he’d been serving them.

Out of concern, he finally spoke up. ”You two have had quite a bit. Maybe you should call it a night and get some rest.”

”Alright. Thanks.”

Xu Yun agreed. Xino was clearly tipsy. If she kept drinking, she’d probably pass out right there at the bar.

He stood and helped her to her feet. ”Come on, no more drinking. Let’s go back to the room and sleep.”

”I’m fine. I can drink more.”

”Alright, we can drink more back in the room.”

Supporting Xino, Xu Yun took the elevator to the executive suite on the 40th floor and set her down on the living room sofa.

Xino was well and truly drunk tonight.

’She was surprisingly careless,’ he thought. ’Getting drunk with a man she barely knew. Wasn’t she afraid he might actually try something?’

Xu Yun turned, poured her a glass of water, and helped her take a sip.

Xino looked at him with hazy, drunken eyes and said plaintively, ”You know, someone like me isn’t so bad either. Why don’t you consider me?”

And with that, she passed out.

”Er...”

Seeing this, Xu Yun sighed in exasperation. ’Can’t just let her sleep on the sofa.’

So he took off her shoes, scooped her up in his arms, carried her to the bed, and tucked her under the covers.

After doing all that, he went back to the living room and was surprised to find he was feeling a little dizzy himself.

’That’s weird. Don’t I have Thousand Cups Unintoxicated?’

Just then, a system notification suddenly popped up in his mind.

[Friendly Reminder: The Skill ”Thousand Cups Unintoxicated” is based on an idiom describing a high tolerance for alcohol. It does not mean the Host can literally drink a thousand cups without getting drunk.]

Xu Yun: ”...”

’Unbelievable.’

’He’d almost thought he was a god of liquor!’

’So in the end, my tolerance is only slightly better than Xino’s?’

’Good thing I didn’t try to keep up with her, or I’d probably be just as wasted as she is.’

He had suddenly disappeared for a day and a night, and the women back in Jiangcheng were getting worried since they hadn’t seen him.

They had all started messaging him nonstop.

But strangely, none of them were calling.

Xu Yun replied to each of them, telling them he was fine and would be back in a couple of days.

Then he went to take a shower before bed.

But he was only halfway through when the bathroom door burst open.

Xino, who should have been fast asleep, stumbled in. She was muttering about needing a shower as she started taking off her clothes.

Xu Yun: ”???”

’Seriously? She’s that drunk and she still needs a shower before she can sleep?’

In the blink of an eye, Xino was completely naked.

’And to be fair, with her clothes off, she wasn’t as small as he’d imagined. A bit bigger, even.’

Xu Yun just watched as she stumbled into his bathtub and flopped right onto his chest.

She even grinned and greeted him, ”Fancy meeting you here. You’re taking a shower, too?”

Xu Yun: ”...”

Feeling the soft body in his arms, Xu Yun was deeply conflicted.

’You’re the one who started this, so you can’t blame me.’

Xu Yun was no gentleman. In a situation like this, he’d rather be a beast than be called worse than a beast for doing nothing.

Just as he was about to make his move, he looked down and saw she had fallen asleep on top of him again.

”Fuck, how am I supposed to continue now???”

’He was starting to suspect she was faking it, doing this on purpose.’

Xu Yun forcefully wiped the water from his face and sighed. ’Forget it. I’ll be a saint, just for today.’

Resigned, he got up again, dried her off with a bath towel, and carried her back to the bed.

To keep Xino from moving around and falling off the bed,

Xu Yun wrapped her up in the blanket like a mummy before he could relax enough to go sleep in the other bedroom.

This whole ordeal had taken up half the night, and he felt more exhausted than if he’d actually ’exercised’ for half the night.

「The next morning.」

Xu Yun was sleeping soundly when he was suddenly jolted awake by a scream from Xino in the next room.

”Aaaah!”
