The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Song Lingjie rubbed his burning ears, sneezed, and arrived at his parents’ main courtyard, scooping up his little sister Yuanyuan who dashed toward him.

”Third brother, Mom wants to find a sister-in-law for you,” Yuanyuan whispered mischievously in his ear.

Song Lingjie felt his face heat up and laughed, ”You little rascal, do you even know what it means to find a sister-in-law?”

Yuanyuan widened her big eyes and said, ”Of course, I know! Big brother will marry our sister-in-law next year, and then I’ll have a second sister-in-law, a third sister-in-law, they’ll all adore me.”

Song Lingjie squinted with a smile and said, ”Who’s teaching you all this? You cheeky little girl, you have no shame.”

Yuanyuan giggled, hugging his neck, affectionately saying, ”I’m smart, I don’t need anyone’s help, I know it all.”

Madam Jiang called out loudly, ”What are you siblings whispering about over there? Come here quickly.”

Song Lingjie walked over and, carrying his little sister, bent slightly towards Madam Jiang in a sign of respect, and asked, ”Why did you summon your son, Mother?”

Madam Jiang smiled, ”It’s naturally something good. My darling Yuanyuan, go find your nanny to play with, I need to chat with your brother.”

”I don’t want to go. I want to stay with third brother,” Yuanyuan clung to Song Lingjie like an octopus, refusing to let go.

Song Lingjie said, ”Mom, let her stay.”

Madam Jiang glared at her daughter but couldn’t be bothered and asked, ”Did the Fu Family visit today? I heard that Fu Jieyuan, your classmate, was also here?”

”Indeed, he was here, accompanying Grandmaster Fu.”

Madam Jiang’s interest was piqued, as she rested her hand on the big pillow adorned with crimson peony flowers, asking, ”What do you think of Fu Jieyuan’s character? How does the Fu family’s background appear to you? Forget it, being a scholarly family, the Fu family’s background is naturally not bad. Did Fu Jieyuan speak to you? Does he fancy you?”

Song Lingjie: ”...”

Why do I sense Mother holds some disdain for me in her words?

Quick-thinking as he was, his mind swiftly landed on the key point, and he deliberately chuckled, saying, ”Mom, Yuanyuan is just two or three years old, are you already in such a rush to find her a husband? Brother Xiu Yuan is too old, and he’s already engaged!”

Madam Jiang choked on her words and casually tossed her daughter’s little cloth doll over: ”You little brat, talking nonsense. Do you think you’re possessed by your second brother? Always spouting absurdities.”

Song Lingjie said, ”I think you do have that in mind.”

”Shut your mouth!” Madam Jiang said, ”Who do you think I’m worrying about, if not your marriage?”

Song Lingjie proudly raised his chin: ”Then there’s no need for you to fret. Isn’t there a list of outstanding young men emerging in the capital? Your son is at least among the top five; there are countless women eager to marry me as your daughter-in-law, you have no reason to worry.”

Madam Jiang: ”You really think you’ve climbed up holding your own rear, praising yourself without shame. You make an entrance like a peacock showing its feathers because of a ranking.”

Is this really the third brother? Or is it the shameless rascal of the second brother?

Listen to this self-promotion! Aren’t you blushing?

”Isn’t what your son said the truth? Is my standing poor?” Song Lingjie teasingly asked his little sister, ”Yuanyuan, what do you think?”

”Third brother is the best, third brother is the best in the world.”

”Alright, alright, enough with the jokes, let’s be serious. You’re indeed in high demand, your mother is overwhelmed by choices.” Madam Jiang gave the siblings a glance and said, ”Today at your grandmother’s place, I saw Madam Fu and her daughter; the young lady is quite nice. I fancy her, though I’m not sure if they fancy you?”
