The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

The golden crow hangs upside down.

In Song Lingsu’s yard, Song Lingjie and Song Lingzhou sat together around the window, with a few small dishes and fruit wine in front of them.

Song Lingjie looked at Song Lingzhou and said, ”Fourth brother, you’ve grown quite a bit this past half year, and you’ve also become a lot thinner. Are your studies burdensome?”

Song Lingzhou touched his face and replied, ”This summer there was a drought, and during the bitter summer I couldn’t eat much, so I lost weight.”

”Fourth brother has become so thin, looking quite different from how he was when he first returned to the capital. You’ve become a little adult now,” Song Lingsu said with a smile.

Song Lingzhou sighed and said, ”I actually wish I hadn’t grown up. Being grown up is not good at all.”

Upon hearing this, Song Lingjie and Song Lingsu exchanged a glance and said, ”Fourth brother, do you have something on your mind? It seems there’s worry between your brows.”

Song Lingzhou momentarily didn’t answer.

”Fourth brother, even though we’re not siblings from the same mother, we’ve always had a good relationship. If you have any difficulties, wouldn’t you want to share them with us?” Song Lingjie squinted and said, ”Could it be because you’ve just gained a new brother, and you’re unhappy about it?”

Song Lingzhou was startled, shook his head, and said with a wry smile, ”That’s not the reason. I’m actually envious of eldest brother and third brother. You both are excellent scholars, young heroes. If I loved reading like you do, I wouldn’t be troubled.”

”What exactly has happened?” Song Lingsu asked.

Song Lingzhou pursed his lips and said, ”I don’t like reading and studying, eldest brother, third brother. I love the study of the Mo Family.”

Song Lingsu and the others were slightly taken aback, quickly realizing the problem, and said, ”Your third aunt doesn’t allow you to engage with such things anymore?”

Song Lingzhou nodded: ”My mother wants me to study like you, excel in my studies, take the exams for Scholar, Scholar, and Scholar, and become a high-ranking official. Yet, I find books uninteresting. I think building a small component is far more fascinating.”

As he spoke, his eyes reddened, and he simply poured everything out.

”My mother always reminds me that as the legitimate eldest son of the third household, I’m to inherit the family business one day and must be outstanding. Eldest brother, third brother, is the study of the Mo Family not outstanding? Without Moisturizers, who would build cannons, construct houses, or make machinery and agricultural tools usable for the people’s livelihood?”

Seeing that he was heartbroken, Song Lingjie patted his shoulder and said, ”Alright, you’re a little man now. How come you’re shedding tears like golden beans?”

Song Lingzhou wiped his eye corners: ”I’m just feeling wronged.”

Song Lingsu smiled and said, ”All parents wish for their sons to become dragons, fourth brother. Moisturizers often come from the lower strata, emphasizing hard practice. You know this, right? Even you made a moving little horse through countless studies, correct?”

Song Lingzhou nodded, which was true.

”Perhaps your third aunt doesn’t want you to suffer so much because it truly requires a vast amount of experience and focus to perfect an object. But, fourth brother, if you truly want to learn this, you’ll have to rely on yourself to convince her. You should at least present your proud work to persuade her, proving that the study of the Mo Family is also outstanding and needed by the Court.” Song Lingsu laughed and said, ”The Ministry of Industry might be the place where such talents are most needed.”

”Eldest brother is right, every profession produces its own champions. If you truly love this field, you’ll have to show real skill to convince your third aunt. Otherwise, how can she support you? Do you think to secretly leave home like your second brother?” Song Lingjie also said.

Song Lingsu’s mouth twitched, knowing such talk would earn a strong reprimand from the third aunt.

”Don’t listen to your third brother. Your second brother had skills and courage and became successful with your third brother’s help as an accomplice. If you go that way, your third aunt would cry until blind. It’s most reliable to convince her with your work.”

Song Lingzhou contemplated thoughtfully.
