The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Song Zhiqing simply couldn’t sit still.

”Mother, Father seldom comes back, I’ll go keep him company.” Song Zhiqing said with a smile.

If he sat any longer, he was afraid he couldn’t help but curse.

”Go ahead.”

Song Zhicheng also stood up and said, ”Third Brother, let’s go together, I’ll go check on Jie’er.”

The two brothers walked out.

”Second Brother, what do you think Mother is planning by saying such things? Why would she come up with the idea of not allowing a Song Family daughter to enter the palace?” Song Zhiqing playfully punched him, jokingly saying, ”Jie’er is young and capable now, and as the Crown Prince’s study companion, Yuanyuan is truly blessed to have such a brother. If she were to enter the palace in the future, wouldn’t it be...”

”You better stop right there, if your Second Sister-in-law hears this, she will immediately take her treasure sword to stab a few holes in you.” Song Zhicheng interrupted him, saying, ”What’s so good about entering the palace? Once you enter the Palace Gate, it becomes as deep as the sea. Your dear old dad doesn’t want my daughter to suffer like that, I’m leaving.”

Song Zhiqing’s face darkened, and after a long pause, he spat: ”What a fool.”

...

Song Ci frowned and asked his eldest son, ”Eldest, what’s the matter with Third Brother? Does he perhaps want Wei’er to participate in the Crown Prince’s consort selection in the future?”

Song Zhiyuan’s gaze was cold as he said, ”The Crown Prince is young. On the day the Emperor announced the establishment, the Crown Princess Consort’s candidate was not declared. In this capital, any family that has an eligible daughter will have this thought, and Third Brother is no exception.”

Who wouldn’t want to compete for such unrivaled wealth?

The Crown Princess Consort, the future Empress, and if fortune favors, establishing a maternal family for the Crown Prince, centuries of prosperity could just be ahead.

Song Ci said, ”He is indeed ambitious, daring to covet the position of Crown Princess Consort, truly commendable courage.”

Song Zhiyuan said, ”Isn’t that right?”

”Actually, you can’t entirely blame him. Wei’er is indeed of age, and among the Song Family’s girls, she’s the only suitable one. Unfortunately, her background is lacking. But if we really wanted it, with you as her uncle, operating on her behalf, it’s not impossible to aim for one of the four concubines.” Song Ci tapped the table, ”But becoming a concubine is only the beginning. To become the Emperor’s maternal family requires meticulous planning. I always feel that a family like ours, striving for stability, will find it easier to take root and stand firm.”

Indeed, becoming the Crown Prince’s maternal family means immense wealth within reach, but if not handled well, it might attract the Emperor’s suspicion due to connections through maternal or extramaternal relatives.

To make the Song Family a great clan lasting for a hundred years, slowly taking root and developing, becoming a towering tree, why worry about not being prosperous?

”Mother needn’t say more. Our family won’t participate in the consort selection; I share the same view. Although the Crown Princess Consort hasn’t been established, previously the Emperor mentioned in passing about the remarkable intelligence of the Duke Ying’s legitimate eldest granddaughter.”

Song Ci was surprised, ”Duke Ying Mansion?”

Song Zhiyuan nodded, ”It is the eldest daughter of the Duke’s princely heir. This year, she’s either nine or ten years old. With noble birth and similar age, she is quite suitable.”

Song Ci lowered her voice, ”But there’s no word of this spreading around.”

”The Emperor’s heart is deep and thoughtful. Neither of us knows what he truly thinks.”

Song Ci sneered, ”Whoever it is, it can’t be from our family. Wei’er’s status doesn’t measure up either. But Third Brother, he’s the father, and you, as the uncle, can’t intervene too much, right? If he insists on charging in, what can be done?”

Song Zhiyuan spoke in a calm tone, ”People with differing aspirations can’t work together. Third Brother, indeed, is thinking too much.”

Repeatedly challenging his patience, isn’t he?

Truly seeking death.

Song Ci cautiously glanced at him, feeling the air drop several degrees, a sense that the poor Third Brother who angered the family head was going to suffer greatly.

Silently lit ten candles for him.

Song Zhiqing sneezed several times, looked up at the sky, dark clouds overhead, is it going to change weather?
