The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

What urgent matter?

Madam Lu was a bit skeptical, but seeing his serious demeanor, she sat down.

”The Crown Prince has been established, you know that, right?”

Madam Lu held back from spitting at him. Isn’t this nonsense? Who doesn’t know?

”Of course I know. Now that Jie’er has become a scholar, when he greeted mother just now, my sister-in-law’s mouth almost reached her ears.” Madam Lu’s tone was sour, unable to hide her jealousy.

Her son has achieved fame and is a study companion to the Crown Prince, his future is unpredictable; how could one not be overjoyed?

If she were Jiang’s, she would truly laugh out loud in her dreams.

”Just talk straight, don’t use that sarcastic tone.” Song Zhiqing glanced at her.

Madam Lu was also impatient and said, ”Master, just say what you mean.”

”How old is Wei’er this year?”

Madam Lu laughed in exasperation, ”Master, you are truly too busy to even know the age of your eldest daughter.”

Song Zhiqing got choked with anger, forcing himself to suppress it, ”Of course, I know, a daughter of our family is coming of age, she’s at the age where many families would seek her hand.”

Madam Lu was stunned.

Hearing this, she understood, could it be that someone fancied Wei’er and sought him out here?

She looked at Song Zhiqing, tentatively saying, ”So, has someone come to you, eyeing our Wei’er?”

Song Zhiqing stroked his recently grown beard, ”A house with a daughter gets many suitors, Song family daughters are naturally noble, so there’s plenty of people asking.”

Upon hearing the words ”noble”, Madam Lu couldn’t help but show pride, though she was two points clearer than Song Zhiqing.

Song Ruwei’s good fortune simply lay in being a Song family girl, the direct niece of Song Zhiyuan, and with all the other suitable Song family girls married, she naturally seemed more noble.

So for families with sons wanting to ally with the Prime Minister’s Mansion, Song Ruwei was the most suitable option.

”I wanted to tell you that Wei’er’s marriage shouldn’t be rushed.” Song Zhiqing looked at her.

Madam Lu said, ”You’ve mentioned before, even if not fixed, one should gradually pay attention to potential matches.”

Song Zhiqing looked at her as if she were foolish; she used to seem quite clever, how did she become so dull?

She didn’t understand his meaning at all.

Song Zhiqing coughed, speaking softly, ”What I mean is there’s no rush to decide, maybe she has greater prospects.”

Madam Lu was once again stunned, staring at him fixedly, recalling what he had said earlier about the Crown Prince, her heart skipped a beat.

This man, could he possibly be thinking that grandly?

”You—you don’t mean to aim for Wei’er to become a candidate for the Crown Princess Consort, do you?” Madam Lu was utterly shocked.

Song Zhiqing raised his chin, ”Why not? She is eleven or twelve, and the Crown Prince is of that very age, it’s perfectly suitable.”

In fact, he initially supported Prince Xiao, who had always tried to win him over, and even hinted that when Wei’er grew up, he would take her as a consort, so he had a bit of intention.

Seeing the Emperor let Prince Xiao entertain the delegation before this year’s Longevity Festival, he thought he had backed the right horse, only for the Emperor to establish the legitimate prince as the Crown Prince.

At that time, he was a bit confused, inwardly thinking he was unlucky, immediately sweating as he thought over his dealings with Prince Xiao, aside from receiving an ancient book from him, there was nothing else, so it might still be salvageable.

Thinking further, the Song Family never took sides, but since Song Lingjie is the Crown Prince’s study companion, the Song Family counts as part of the Crown Prince’s faction, so can they not ride this wave to even greater heights, like having a Song Family girl participate as a candidate for the Crown Princess Consort?
