The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1045: Chapter 1045: Acting Turns Into Watching the Show

Madam Song stopped in her tracks, looking at the well-dressed woman in front of her with questions in her eyes. Whose servant could this be? She glanced at Madam Wen, who shook her head, indicating she didn’t know either.

The woman smiled and said, ”Madam Song, I am Nanny Li from the Princess’s side. The Princess heard that you came here to offer incense and pray, so she specifically sent me to greet Madam and inquire after you. If you have some free time, the Princess would like to invite you to the Zen room for tea.”

What, the Princess?

Madam Song couldn’t help but laugh at this, glancing sideways and almost bursting into laughter.

It seems enemies are always bound to meet.

Madam Wen turned green. How could it be such a coincidence?

She subconsciously looked at her daughter and saw the latter turn pale. She couldn’t help but warn with a look, to stay calm.

Madam Song said with a smile, ”So it’s someone from the Princess’s side. It’s not proper not to pay respects if the Princess is here; Madam Wen and I will go to offer incense first and then go pay our respects to the Princess. By the way, what does Madam Wen think?”

Madam Wen silently called this bad luck; truly, what you fear comes to pass. She really didn’t want to meet.

Feigning illness to escape?

But doing so would be too suspicious, and avoiding without reason could only draw more scrutiny, making it seem guilty instead.

Madam Song was already on board; how could Madam Wen dare to say no? Not going to see, not paying respects, it would be her rudeness.

”Of course, we must pay our respects. I will follow – as Madam suggests.” Madam Wen replied with a gentle smile.

Upon hearing this, Nanny Li sent the little maid behind her back to report back, and she herself eagerly volunteered to serve Madam Song and the others as they went to offer their prayers, and then lead them to the Zen room.

Madam Song felt even more delighted at this, thinking that today she came to the right place. All the gloom dissipated, and she wondered how many surprises the Princess would bring her.

Madam Wen’s smile almost wavered. Surely they feared they might escape?

She pretended to politely let Madam Song go first, then fell back a few steps, offering her hand to Wen Zishan, signaling for her support.

”Stay alert, don’t let yourself be provoked. If there’s any opportunity, find a way to slip away from the Princess’s sight.” Madam Wen’s barely audible voice sounded in Wen Zishan’s ear.

She couldn’t believe in coincidences; there had never been a chance meeting before. How was it once they left Wan Bao Lou’s private room, they just happened to meet the Princess?

The other party must have come prepared and not with good intentions.

Wen Zishan felt somewhat humiliated, pressing her lips tightly.

With someone from the Princess’s side around, Madam Wen couldn’t probe Madam Song any further, lest friendly words turn into embarrassment when maliciously spread.

Madam Song felt more relaxed. Originally coming here was all a pretense, and now watching the show was more effortless.

Upon arriving at the main hall, Madam Song sincerely paid her respects and fulfilled her vows with deep devotion, even though in August Song Ci and others had come to fulfill their vows. However, she herself had not been present, which lacked sincerity, and now was just the right time for a personal offering to Buddha.

She lit safety lights for her family and donated a generous amount of incense money, then followed Nanny Li to the Princess’s Zen room.

When the Princess came to offer incense and pray, the specifications were naturally different. At the Zen Temple’s entrance, every three steps was a post, each guarded by guards, and outside the Zen room, there were strong and sturdy maidservants on watch, looking indefatigable.

Wen Zishan, noticing this from the corner of her eye, lowered her head slightly, pursing her lips. This was the pomp of a Great Qing Princess, imposing and elevated above all.
