The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1031: Chapter 1031: Wise Beyond His Years

Song Lingjie paused abruptly and turned around, causing little Wan Yicheng to crash straight into him unawares.

”Ouch, bro, what are you doing?” Wan Yicheng rubbed his nose in pain, reaching out to feel his chest muscles, thinking there must be a Heart Protector in there; it hurt so much to bump into him.

Song Lingjie’s shock was suddenly interrupted, and he pulled his hand away, saying it was inappropriate to touch him like that.

”Third bro, you’re really solid here, is it because you practice martial arts?” Wan Yicheng asked enviously, touching his own small chest, wondering why there was such a big difference even though he practiced martial arts too.

Song Lingjie lowered his voice and asked, ”Don’t change the subject, what did you just say? Prince Zhou was winking at whom?”

Wan Yicheng was stunned for a moment and said, ”Just a couple of days ago, I was returning from the palace to the mansion, passed by the famous Snowflake Cake shop, and stopped to buy some snacks...”

”Get to the point.”

”Oh,” Wan Yicheng said, ”Just as I arrived, someone else was leaving the tailor’s shop next to the Snowflake Cake shop, a young lady, in the middle of autumn, holding a round fan. As she stepped down, she almost fell, and the fan flew out. Prince Zhou, passing by on horseback, picked it up and personally returned it to her.”

”Did you say it was a miss from the Wen Family? Which miss?”

”Now you’ve stumped me; I saw the family crest on the carriage, it’s definitely the Wen Family, but which miss, I have no idea. I’m either in the palace or back at the mansion offering incense at the ancestral hall, or occasionally staying at the Prime Minister’s Mansion. How would a guy like me know which miss it is? Besides, as a dignified man, would I know everything about the noble ladies?”

”You should have asked around.”

Wan Yicheng widened his eyes, ”Why should I ask around? What does it have to do with me? Third bro, although I’m young, I’m a gentleman, you have to believe that.”

You really shouldn’t misunderstand.

Song Lingjie rolled his eyes, pondered for a moment, and called for the servant Tian Hai, instructing, ”Check who from the Wen Family went to the tailor’s shop next to the Snowflake Cake place a couple of days ago.”

Tian Hai bowed in acknowledgment.

Wan Yicheng blinked and whispered, ”Third bro, why are you looking into this? Have you set your sights on a miss from the Wen Family?”

”It’s none of your business.” Song Lingjie twisted his ear and said, ”Did you really see Prince Zhou winking at someone?”

”I saw it clearly, that look in his eyes was just like a wolf in the animal park seeing meat, his eyes were glowing.” Wan Yicheng pursed his lips and said, ”Third bro, could it be that Prince Zhou wants to take another Concubine to strengthen his faction?”

Song Lingjie raised an eyebrow, ”You actually know about this?”

Wan Yicheng spoke in a barely audible voice, ”We’re study companions to the Fifth Prince, are we learning things in vain? The emperor hasn’t appointed a Crown Prince yet, so naturally, people’s hearts are unsettled, and those princes who have come of age are competing fiercely. The Fifth Prince is ten this year, so he might have caught some people’s attention too. We, as his study companions, have to be alert.”

As study companions, they were already tied to the Fifth Prince’s faction; their fortunes were linked, so they had to be more sensitive about certain things.

Song Lingjie patted the back of his head, ”You’re young; when I say you’re naïve, you’re not completely so. You’re quite cunning. Don’t mention this again in the future, and don’t let anyone hear it, or you’ll suffer if it reaches Prince Zhou’s ears.”

Wan Yicheng gave an expression as if to say he’s not foolish and smiled, ”Third bro, let’s go see Yuanyuan first. I bought her Snowflake Cake today too.”

He patted the wallet at his waist.
