The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1011: Chapter 1011: Arranging the Remarriage

Old Master Ji saw that Princess Consort Ji’s expression was unpleasant, and he couldn’t help but feel a bit apprehensive. To be honest, the Ji Family had maintained their wealth over the years, all relying on his sister. If she was unhappy, then?

Better to offend all under heaven than to offend the younger sister.

Old Master Ji forced a smile and said, ”Liniang, don’t feel bad for her. This woman has achieved nothing. I’m thinking, now that she’s gone, I’ll find another wife for Ji Jiachang, perhaps an Official’s daughter, someone with some skill and strength, who can properly raise Ji Family’s children. It wouldn’t be a bad idea, would it?”

Princess Consort Ji’s expression eased a bit, but she ridiculed with a smile: ”You think finding a skilled Official’s daughter is that easy? For a young, pretty lady from a wealthy family, who would be willing to join the Ji Family as a replacement wife? Ji Jiachang isn’t particularly capable either.”

Old Master Ji felt his face flush, and he replied with an embarrassed smile, ”Isn’t it because you can act as the matchmaker? Would you just watch the Ji Family fall into misfortune? You hope our family can produce someone truly capable, and perhaps in a few generations, we might even raise a Scholar.”

Princess Consort Ji appeared indifferent, but her heart was somewhat moved.

She understood that her grandnephew was about the same age as her, only in his forties. It’s impossible for him not to remarry, otherwise, wouldn’t the whole household be thrown into chaos?

A man surely needs a wife to manage affairs, handle the household, or things would become disorganized and even more prone to issues.

If he truly could marry someone formidable who can suppress others, maybe it would reduce the number of scandals in the Ji Family and bring some peace. It would be even better if the next generation could be talented.

But as she said, Ji Jiachang isn’t very capable, and there are still several concubines in the household. Together, the legitimate and illegitimate children are six or seven. Which lady would be willing?

Sigh.

Old Master Ji saw her sigh, and he gritted his teeth and said: ”Liniang, you take the lead in matchmaking and find a good match for Ji Jiachang, someone with a great demeanor. I’ll request an imperial decree to establish him as the Princely Heir. With this title, we surely can secure someone good, right?”

The position of Princely Heir, with his wife as the Heir’s wife, who would eventually be the Madam, and even if it’s a demotion, it’s still a Duke. It’s not a bad deal.

”Even if we’re in a hurry, we can’t marry someone right away. We still have to look around slowly, otherwise, if we find another one like the previous one, it would be even worse,” Princess Consort Ji said. ”Remarrying is only about managing household affairs; the truly important thing lies at the root. Big brother, you must truly resolve to strictly discipline your children at home, to avoid embarrassing incidents.”

”I understand.”

After pointing out a few things, Princess Consort Ji let him go back. Old Master Ji, still uneasy, asked again: ”Are we just leaving the Song Family alone? They really won’t do anything against our family, right?”

Seeing Princess Consort Ji’s face darken again, he quickly added: ”It’s not that I’m being nagging, but you know how prosperous the Song Family is. Even for summer retreat, the Emperor selected Prime Minister Song to accompany him, and for Mid-Autumn, he invited him to accompany him to admire the moon. How many have such honors? Moreover, the matriarch of the Song Family and Empress Dowager Wang are as close as sisters. I don’t fear much, just afraid they’ll shamelessly harm our family and seize this title.”

”How dare they! This title was bestowed by the previous Emperor. Doing such a thing would be unfilial and disloyal.”

Old Master Ji cautiously added: ”Even though it was granted by the previous Emperor, there’s no saying it can’t be rescinded. Finding an excuse would be so easy, especially since they have the Emperor.”

Suddenly.

Princess Consort Ji felt as if an arrow had struck her chest.

Yes, the Emperor is their child, not her Ze’er. Does it stab the heart? Does it hurt!
