The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1035: Chapter 1035: Preaching Isn’t Easy Either

Madam Song listened to Song Ci’s assessment, and her good mood was completely gone.

”Miss Wen comes from a prestigious family, so it’s inevitable for her to value lineage, isn’t it? Mother, with a kind and benevolent heart, still cannot deny that people are ranked in hierarchies,” Madam Song forced a smile and said.

Song Ci was not provoked by these words to become angry. People are ranked, she certainly knew that. Not only was this true in ancient times with distinct social classes, but also in the future. Could someone from the upper class really play together with someone from the lower class?

Perhaps, it’s all just pretentious.

”I naturally admit that. So, do you think the Song Family can be considered as coming from a prestigious lineage?”

Madam Song was taken aback, her face flushed with a purple hue, lips quivering, unable to utter a single word.

Song Ci smiled faintly and said, ”The Song Family came from humble beginnings. It wasn’t until the eldest donned the official robe that the Song Family transformed overnight from a poor family to an official’s family. Indeed, the Song Family has prospered over the years, but compared to truly prestigious families like the Wen Family or the Wang Clan, can the Song Family truly claim to be of noble lineage? We may fall short.”

Madam Song’s hands and feet felt restless, yet she couldn’t find a word to rebut.

Song Ci sighed deeply, ”Now that the eldest has been awarded a first-class official position, it’s true he holds a high rank with significant power. People fear the might of his authority, but some do not. The more profound the foundation of the noble families, the deeper their roots. True noble families, their spirit is only more upright and proud. Perhaps in their view, the eldest’s position may not be secure yet!”

Standing in a corner of the room, Nan Shan raised his eyebrows, glanced outside the door, his eyes half-closed, silently walked to the entrance, and stood still.

Nanny Gou raised an eyebrow and looked at Song Ci.

Song Ci didn’t notice the subtle movements of the two. Seeing Madam Song’s displeasure, she continued, ”I’m not belittling our Song Family by saying this, or diminishing our own strength to praise others. In fact, a noble family requires generations of cultivation and accumulation to become prestigious. No noble family is innately prestigious; they are all founded by a great ancestor and passed down generation by generation. I don’t believe that, with the eldest paving the way, and you managing household affairs wisely from behind, with brotherly unity, there won’t come a day when the Song Family becomes a truly prestigious family!”

Madam Song’s face softened slightly.

”Back to Miss Wen, placing great importance on lineage and distinguishing between legitimate and illegitimate birth is not necessarily a bad thing. But would she regard Su’er, not from a genuine noble lineage, favorably? Su’er, even though he is the Prime Minister’s son, only holds the title of a Scholar. Suppose she takes a liking to him, and if they can be united, they will be the legitimate eldest son and daughter-in-law, perhaps future Sect Master and Lady of their clan.”

Nanny Gou wanted to say, too much double standards. Previously, you always defended, stood up to the Prime Minister, and praised your grandson to the skies!

”Mother, I’ve heard that Miss Wen is very capable in managing the household and finances,” Madam Song quickly said.

”I’m not saying she isn’t capable,” Song Ci shook her head, ”You know, the eldest is the exemplar of humble families, a leader of sorts. As of now, he has many followers, mostly from humble origins. One could say, the eldest is that leading figure guiding these streams of modest backgrounds. If Su’er is to inherit the family, the connections at home will likely include many from humble beginnings, or those who would come to pledge service. Would Miss Wen, with her pride and emphasis on lineage, greet them warmly and interact straightforwardly?”

Madam Song was dumbfounded.

Song Ci said nothing, only sipping tea leisurely, waiting for her to digest it. Truly, lecturing is not easy!
