The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 1038: Chapter 1038: Greater Fortune Awaits the Song Mansion

The Song Madam didn’t wait for Song Zhiyuan to ask, she began to recount her observations from the banquet, naturally starting with praise for Miss Wen. Only after did she sigh and talk about Song Ci’s attitude and words.

Song Zhiyuan fiddled with the two walnut artifacts in his hand and asked, ”So, what do you think? Is this person suitable or not?”

The Madam pondered, ”This person is actually not bad, but I fear, as Mother said, she has a strong personality. Can our Su’er get along?”

As a mother, no one wants their son to be constantly overshadowed by his wife. She is the same, seeing her son submit to his wife, isn’t this just heart-wrenching?

If that’s the case, no matter how good the person is, she wouldn’t want her as a daughter-in-law, otherwise, how would her son be respected?

”I’ve been thinking, just one contact isn’t enough to see clearly. Discussing marriage requires multiple interactions, perhaps we can probe further. What does the Prime Minister think?”

Song Zhiyuan also kept Song Ci’s words in his heart. What concerned him was that if the future daughter-in-law can’t be of one mind with the son, it would be detrimental to family development.

As Mother said, a noble family requires several generations of cultivation. In the Song Family, it’s truly established in his generation. If the next doesn’t have a clear-minded Family Head and Lady, development will face many obstacles.

If this person weren’t suggested by the Emperor, he would simply eliminate her. Just the daughter of a Governor of Jiangnan, no matter how good the background, if unsuitable, it’s useless.

”Marriage proposals can’t be rushed, it’s better to look closely and gain more insights, then let’s interact more.” Song Zhiyuan said.

The Madam glanced at him and cautiously asked, ”But this candidate is recommended by the Emperor; if she isn’t suitable, can we really say so?”

Song Zhiyuan smiled upon hearing this, ”Madam, you’re overly concerned. The Emperor only recommended a candidate, he didn’t issue an imperial decree for marriage. Who said it must be the Wen Family’s daughter?”

The Madam: ”...”

What about the necessity of a political alliance?

Song Zhiyuan: When it involves the family’s future development, who cares about politics? Without an imperial decree for marriage, there’s freedom to choose.

Yes, that’s just being rogue and carefree, who cares if it’s the Emperor’s suggestion? Feigning ignorance, who wouldn’t do that!

As Emperor Chu gently comforted the Empress with warm words and hands, his nose suddenly itched inexplicably, surely someone is cursing him as a dog!

...

Wen Family.

Wen Zishan couldn’t resist entering Madam Wen’s room and directly asking if they were planning to choose the Song Family as her marriage alliance.

Madam Wen was taken aback, pretending to joke, she asked, ”Shan’er, do you dislike the Song Family’s status? Mother thinks the Song Family conducts themselves quite well, and their house is peaceful, it’s not without merit. Moreover, haven’t you met Young Master Song before? What do you think of him?”

Wen Zishan recalled Song Lingsu, indeed a refined young gentleman, but in her mind, she subconsciously envisioned someone more mature and dignified, her cheeks reddened, and she said, ”Mother, how could I have looked closely?”

Madam Wen noticed the blush on her cheeks and smiled knowingly, ”Mother sees Young Master Song is quite promising. Now, Prime Minister’s Mansion is flourishing, wealth certainly doesn’t stop here.”

Wen Zishan lowered her head, murmuring, ”Even if noble and pure, it’s just a poor family rising.”

Madam Wen’s brows furrowed, ”A poor family rising; these past thirty years, wealth has been gotten. Moreover, Song is Prime Minister for just three years; Song Mansion’s wealth is in the future, Shan’er, don’t be stubborn.”

Wen Zishan bit her lower lip, bowed her head, and remained silent.
