The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 500: Chapter 500: Come On, The Battle for the Mother-in-law

On the day Song Ruqi got married, her fourth aunt, Commandery Princess Dongyang, was diagnosed with a pregnancy pulse, marking a double celebration.

Though not widely publicized, Nanny Gong’s subtle flaunting naturally informed some of the madams that their family would soon welcome another young master.

For a moment, everyone felt a subtle change in their hearts, silently admiring that the family’s fortune had reached its peak, unstoppable.

Just look at the Song Minister’s Mansion these past two years, how many joyful events have occurred: from Family Head Song Zhiyuan’s promotions, the marriages of sons and daughters, to the birth of new members. Where is there not joy?

The Song Family is truly on the rise!

Of course, seeing its ascent, there were those with dark thoughts surreptitiously wondering when it would fall, but this goes unspoken.

The Song Family paid no mind to whether outsiders were sour or sweet; their own sweetness was enough.

Once the feast was over, all those in the know hurried to Song Zhiyu’s courtyard to express their care and concern to Niu Pan’er.

After a busy day, Madam Song’s face still showed signs of fatigue, yet she looked at Niu Pan’er with overflowing joy and said, ”You, child, you’re pregnant and didn’t even know. Be careful not to overexert yourself with today’s busyness. In my opinion, we should invite the renowned Imperial Physician He from the palace to come and feel the pulse just to be sure.”

Niu Pan’er blushed slightly, ”I don’t understand these things.”

”I wonder how your nanny has been serving you,” Madam Song shook her head, then looked at Song Ci and said, ”Mother, there aren’t many elders in Prince Dingbei’s Mansion. Although there’s a steward nanny, I feel it’s not enough. Should we send another experienced mama over?”

Mrs. Jiang also agreed, ”That’s right, the usual mama from Mother’s courtyard would be perfect. It’s the first pregnancy, so we should be extra cautious.”

As soon as she spoke, Madam Lu in the room, along with Song Ruqian and Song Zi, all chimed in with their opinions.

”There’s no need, Mother should come live with us at Prince Dingbei’s Mansion and return to the Minister’s Mansion after the Commandery Princess gives birth.”

Song Zhiyu couldn’t help but lean over from behind the screen and say.

Upon his words, the room fell silent.

What, let Song Ci go live at Prince Dingbei’s Mansion?

Madam Song was the first to protest in shock, ”Fourth Brother, that won’t do. How can Mother go live at the Prince Mansion?”

”Why not? The Prince Mansion is also her son’s and daughter-in-law’s home, and it’s not permanent, just a temporary stay,” Song Zhiyu said, looking at Niu Pan’er, ”What do you think?”

Niu Pan’er looked at Song Ci and said, ”If Mother is willing, then I certainly have no objections at all.”

She and Song Ci get along well, and in her heart, she regards Song Ci as a biological mother, one could say as both a mother and a friend.

So she would definitely be happy for Song Ci to temporarily stay at the Prince Mansion.

Though she could return to the Minister’s Mansion to rest, the Prince Mansion has more space, fewer people, it’s quieter, and it feels more like her own big domain. It would be more relaxing than staying at the Minister’s Mansion.

Niu Pan’er looked at Song Ci with anticipation in her eyes, filled with hope.

Madam Song said, ”Fourth Brother, Fourth Sister-in-law, Mother is getting on in years, and a sudden change of residence might not be comfortable for her. Besides, you are both still young, and now with a pregnancy, you can’t possibly take care of Mother properly.”

She was reluctant for Song Ci to stay elsewhere, since after all, she was the Madam of the mansion. If she followed her youngest son to live elsewhere, who knows what gossip would spread outside.

”There are plenty of people to serve at the Prince Mansion, Elder Sister-in-law, you don’t need to worry,” Song Zhiyu argued earnestly.

Niu Pan’er also said, ”That’s right, Elder Sister-in-law, there are many people to serve at the Prince Mansion. How about this: you all come stay at the Prince Mansion too? There are many empty halls at the Prince Mansion, so it could be lively.”

Everyone: ”...”

Madam Song, feeling a bit helpless, had to look toward the other two sisters-in-law for help in keeping their family together!
