The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 480: Chapter 480: Dozing Off Brought a Pillow

Regarding the Imperial Temple matter, commoners dare not discuss it and the nobility circle does not mention it either, especially since the Black Armor Guards are still secretly hunting down residual rebels.

Thus, all households have enforced strict discipline on their servants, immediately expelling those who talk too much.

It’s only been about twenty days since the incident, and the shadows haven’t completely dissipated yet. Hosting a spring banquet at this time, isn’t it rather bold?

Nanny Gong whispered, ”Not necessarily. Despite such rumors, if noble families continue their activities as usual, holding banquets as they should, it would demonstrate to common folk that those rumors are baseless.”

Song Ci thought about it and realized that was true. Look at those nobles; they’re so joyful. If the royal family lacked virtue, would the nobility be so cheerful?

However.

”That may be so, but it’s better to forget it. Firstly, it’s unwise to stand out like this. Secondly, the Jiang family is about to act these days. What if we invite guests and she causes a scene? It would be chaos. Besides, next month, Qi’er is getting married. There’s enough to handle in the household without adding to the chaos.”

It’s already April now, and time flies.

Counting on her fingers, she realized she’s been in this ancient time for a year. This year passed peacefully, but who knows how many more years she can endure?

Nanny Gong seeing her like this, no longer tried to persuade her, as the household indeed has a lot to deal with. If by chance the second madam goes into labor and gives birth, the full moon celebration might clash with Song Ruqi’s wedding day, which would truly be a mess.

”Madam, if the birth happens, the full moon celebration will conflict with the Second Miss’s wedding.”

Song Ci smiled and said, ”The second brother’s family mentioned that if she gives birth, they’ll celebrate lavishly on the third day and won’t hold a full moon feast. Instead, they’ll throw a big party for the first birthday when the child grasps objects.”

”The Second Madam is very accommodating, and the Second Miss should acknowledge this favor.”

”Indeed, the few daughters-in-law in the household, Jiang is more open-minded. Such open-minded people lead comfortable lives,” Song Ci sighed.

More than just open-minded, she practically concedes everything. It’s difficult for her to not have a contentious nature, otherwise, where would the peace in this household come from?

Madam Song is fortunate to have such sisters-in-law, who do not compete with her. Even the third son only supports her, and as for the youngest one, let’s not mention her; she doesn’t care to engage in household politics and isn’t on the same level.

Yet, with everything in her favor, Madam Song is not content and remains troubled, alas.

Take the matter of her son’s study companion; although the husband and wife reconciled later, some cracks formed. They no longer appear as close as before, interacting like guests.

It’s not that she wishes ill upon her, but if Madam Song remains stubborn in her attitude, the couple will only drift further apart, eventually becoming unrecognizable. When Song Zhiyuan embraces a new bride, she’ll have no tears left to cry.

But she refrains from speaking about affairs between the couple; a mother-in-law meddling in her son’s marital affairs is always wrong.

”Stop doing needlework. Over the year, our eyes have only worsened; be careful not to strain them,” Song Ci saw Nanny Gong picking up needlework again and couldn’t help but stop her.

Nanny Gong waved her needlework dismissively and said, ”If I don’t do it, who will? Your item, should the sewing room handle it?”

Seeing the thin piece of fabric, Song Ci coughed, touched her nose, and weakly said, ”Let Hong You and the others do it.”

Underwear is certainly private and unsuitable for just anyone to make.

”I’m just an idle old servant, listening to your sighs!” Nanny Gong swiftly continued her sewing.

Song Ci: ”...”

If she can’t afford to provoke, she could at least avoid it, couldn’t she?

”Madam, a post came from the Bai Mansion, inviting you to their spring banquet,” Hong You said, holding a card.

Song Ci exclaimed, feeling like a pillow had been sent while she was drowsy!
