The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 484: Chapter 484: I am not the kind of person who beats around the bush

That person really stirred up trouble.

When Madam Bai heard Mama Zhao’s report, her face was as unpleasant as if she had swallowed a fly.

That old lady Song really can’t shake off her rustic nature. How could she be so ignorant of etiquette, visiting the host to attend a party and roaming the garden instead!

But thinking of her own behavior, she was so frustrated she almost vomited blood. That old lady outplayed her again!

”Madam Bai, is there something the matter?” someone boldly asked after seeing Madam Bai’s expression.

Madam Bai smiled and said, ”Old Lady Song is really impatient. She’s already gone to the garden to admire the peonies. Why don’t we head over there too, everyone?”

Someone couldn’t help but snicker, unsure if it was because of what Madam Bai had said or Song Ci’s bewildering actions.

Either way, it was a rather embarrassing affair.

Madam Bai’s face looked not just unpleasant but utterly dreadful.

Song Ci stood in front of the twin Qiao flowers, accompanied by Mrs. Qiu, appreciating the tender blooms and chatting with her until there was some commotion in the garden.

She didn’t turn around until Madam Bai greeted her.

”Old Lady Song, you’ve been hard to find. I was waiting to have tea with you, but unexpectedly, you came straight to the garden without a word. Was it because of my poor hospitality?” Madam Bai approached her with a smile, bowed politely, but her eyes weren’t smiling, and her heart was filled with resentment.

Song Ci smiled and said, ”Didn’t they say you were held up by something? So I had to amuse myself. After all, it’s just flower viewing; it’s the same early or late.”

”At least have a cup of tea...”

”What’s so special about tea? All tea tastes the same, lacking any flavor,” Song Ci interrupted her, laughing. ”It’s better to admire these twin Qiao flowers. If you’re busy, you can attend to your matters. It’s enough to have your granddaughter accompany me.”

Madam Bai glared at Mrs. Qiu fiercely and pretended to be aggrieved, ”Old Lady, are you ridiculing me? I apologize, truly.”

Song Ci feigned surprise: ”What do you mean by that? How could I ridicule you? Don’t misunderstand. I’m not that kind of person. If I wanted to ridicule anyone, I would slap them outright; beating around the bush isn’t my style.”

Madam Bai: ”...”

Everyone: ”...”

Are they guests or looking for trouble?

”Old Lady Song is as straightforward as ever, which this Commandery Princess admires.” Suddenly, Commandery Princess Chunyang spoke up.

When Song Ci saw her, she smiled, ”So you’re invited too, Commandery Princess Chunyang. Madam Bai does have quite the face to invite you. Since County Lord Hui married off, you do seem to have more leisure time.”

Commandery Princess Chunyang smiled and said, ”If anyone has great face, it’s Old Lady you. Haven’t you come too?”

”I’m bored at home, and my husband likes peonies, so I came to see the Bai Family’s.”

”Are they comparable to Old Mr. Song’s?”

”The twin Qiao flowers are good, but they aren’t taken care of properly. Look at how they sit here brilliantly, enough to catch the eye, but also easy to break,” Song Ci remarked, pointing at the twin Qiao flowers beside her, speaking meaningfully: ”Being dazzling momentarily is enough to catch attention, but it also invites jealousy. Flowers that bloom without wilting are the real triumph, wouldn’t you agree, Commandery Princess?”

Commandery Princess Chunyang’s eyes flashed: ”Old Lady Song is truly wise.”

Madam Bai’s expression turned dark. She was about to speak when her trusted maid excitedly reported that Prince Zhou was accompanying the Concubine Lady back to the mansion.

Madam Bai was immediately overjoyed, ”Quick, open the main gate!”
