The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 493: Chapter 493: Melodramatic Events Are Everywhere

The Song Family’s happy events keep coming. In April, a new young lady was born, and by May, Song Ruqi’s wedding was approaching.

Getting married amidst the blossoming of spring is indeed a good season. Song Ci leisurely strolled in the back garden of the Prime Minister’s Mansion, admiring the early summer scenery of the mansion.

”The Gu family is quite generous. They’ve replaced the flowers in this garden again, haven’t they?” Song Ci said, picking a pink peony.

Nanny Gong shook a round fan gently, smiling as she said, ”After all, it is the Second Miss’s wedding. There will be many guests, and they can’t let the Prime Minister’s Mansion lose its prestige.”

Song Ci snorted lightly, it was all for appearances!!

”Is Qi’er still causing trouble?”

Nanny Gong cautiously said, ”I’ve heard that a few maids were punished in Fugu Pavilion recently.”

Song Ci pursed her lips, ”Marrying into a high family is full of troublesome matters. Look, the wedding hasn’t even happened yet, and the games have begun. Once she marries, it will be like watching immortals fight, becoming more and more disgusting. This is just the surface; privately, there are probably even more troublesome things.”

Nanny Gong also sighed, ”The Duke Ying Mansion isn’t being quite fair.”

”Not just unfair, it’s lax management, to put it bluntly, intentionally annoying people.” Song Ci snorted coldly.

They were talking about Song Ruqi’s husband, Qi San.

To begin with, the marriage was bestowed by the Emperor; their families matched well, and both Madam Song and Song Ruqi were extremely satisfied with the marriage.

Qi San’s performance was quite commendable. When Song Ruqi reached marriageable age, he personally gifted her a hairpin with dangling ornaments, making her immensely happy.

On regular days, small gifts and snacks were occasionally sent to Fugu Pavilion, making Song Ruqi very pleased.

But ironically, just days before the grand wedding, a rumor suddenly broke out that there was an old mistress kept on an estate.

Rumor had it that Qi San’s old mistress was his wet nurse’s daughter, whose health was not well, but she had indeed served Qi San for a couple of years. A year before the engagement with Song Ruqi, she was sent to the estate to recuperate due to health reasons and stayed there until now.

Just as Qi San was about to marry, the old mistress named Su Qing returned to the mansion, affirming that she had recuperated and was ready to continue serving Master San and his future wife.

Qi San kept her, not for any other reason but a melodramatic promise he made to his deceased wet nurse to take good care of Su Qing.

This matter reached Song Ruqi’s ears. With her inherently proud and headstrong nature, how could she pretend nothing happened? She immediately exploded, and if not for the maidservants and woman servants desperately stopping her, she almost tore up her wedding dress.

These past two days, the Fugu Pavilion has been particularly grim, and those serving her tread carefully, fearing to upset this volatile young mistress.

”Melodramatic events happen everywhere. Actually, from the start, the elders shouldn’t have hidden the existence of that old mistress.” Song Ci stroked the peony in her hand and said, ”See, they brought trouble upon themselves.”

Nanny Gong said, ”That Su Qing is already twenty-one, and her health isn’t very good. It seems even having children is difficult for her. Duke Ying Mansion probably intended to let her stay on the estate until old age. And the Prime Minister’s side likely thought she wasn’t a threat, but they didn’t expect the second young master to suddenly bring her back.”

Song Ci laughed mockingly, ”Naive! What’s not a threat? She’s his first love, she’s been with him since childhood, and there’s that so-called promise to care for her. She’s as unmovable as a mountain!”
