The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 489: Chapter 489: Mother-in-Law’s Childbirth Secret Method Really Works

The second family had a daughter, fulfilling a long-held wish in a single day, naturally bringing joy to everyone, and generous rewards were given, but that’s not all. Song Zhicheng even had someone go to the temple overnight to donate sesame oil and regild the Buddha’s golden body, as a gesture of fulfilling his vow.

The two midwives initially thought that delivering a daughter would displease the hosts, but to their surprise, the family was overjoyed and rewarded them generously. They were also asked to help with the ritual for the third day, leaving them so delighted they didn’t know where to put their hands and feet.

Song Ci watched as Mrs. Jiang awoke, confirmed that she was fine, albeit slightly exhausted, and then breathed a sigh of relief. After seeing the Imperial Physician check on the newborn granddaughter and confirm her good health, he left, giving the family their space.

Once Song Ci left, Madam and the others each returned to their quarters.

Nanny Fang watched Madam’s enigmatic expression as she touched her belly and brought her a cup of tea.

”Madam, you’ve been busy all day, would you like a sip of water first?”

Madam, however, looked at her and said, ”The Secret Technique from the older Madam truly works.”

Nanny Fang was taken aback.

Madam was quite excited, but after a moment, her gaze dimmed.

She was only a few years older than Mrs. Jiang, but Jiang had successfully borne a daughter while she hadn’t heard any news. She had been following the regimen and doing as Song Ci instructed, so why hadn’t the child come?

Madam touched her belly, sighed, and wondered if she was destined not to have another child in this lifetime?

She was unwilling.

The consequence of unwillingness was to continue doing as Song Ci advised, and when Song Zhiyuan returned to the main courtyard and saw the dinner on the table, his heart skipped a beat.

He glanced at Madam’s thin face and discreetly pinched his own waist, hinting, ”Madam, when it comes to children, it’s all about fate. There’s no need for you to do this. You can eat more meat during the day, but eating too much rich food at night isn’t good for health.”

Madam said gently, ”The second brother and sister-in-law have a new daughter.”

Song Zhiyuan smiled, ”The second brother and his wife have been longing for this for many years and finally had their wishes fulfilled.”

”We all heard the Secret Technique from Mother, if second sister-in-law can have it, we can too.”

Song Zhiyuan: ”...”

Madam came over, took his hand, and pulled him to sit at the table. Blushing, she said, ”Prime Minister, shall we try one more year? If we still can’t have one this year, then it’s fate that we only have Qian’er and the others.”

Song Zhiyuan wanted to say a few words of comfort, but when he saw her pleading eyes, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse and nodded, ”Alright.”

Madam happily took a piece of tender chicken breast and placed it in his bowl.

Song Zhiyuan glanced silently at the meat, picked it up, and thought, well, let’s try. At worst, they’ll focus on health next year?

Plum Garden.

Mrs. Lu also looked complicated, sitting dazedly at the dining table with a bitter smile.

The second family had a daughter, proving that Song Ci’s childbirth secret method worked, but what good was it for her?

Her husband was away and had taken a new lover; they might have a new child this year, and herself?

Mrs. Lu scoffed at herself, her mouth full of bitterness.

”Madam, if you don’t eat soon, it will get cold,” Nanny Zhou reminded her.

Mrs. Lu picked up her chopsticks but hesitated for a long time before speaking, ”Nanny, I truly envy Second Sister-in-law.”

Among the sisters-in-law, Mrs. Jiang actually has the most comfortable and transparent life. Now she has a son with a promising future, and she will unquestionably become an Imperial Decree Madam in the future. Her husband also dotes on her, so how can one not be envious?

”Madam, everyone has their own fates. Envy is useless. You’re not doing poorly either; look, Madame has praised Miss, hasn’t she?”
