The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 498: Chapter 498: The Song Minister’s Mansion is Poisoned, Right?

”I really must thank you all!”

This tone, neither warm nor cold, sent a chill down everyone’s spine.

Everyone put down their chopsticks and looked at Song Ci, feeling a bit awkward.

The most awkward was Madam Wei, sitting beside Song Ci. She tugged at her mouth: ”Dear sister...”

”Why do you all look like you’ve been struck by something?” Song Ci raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly: ”Don’t believe me when I say thank you?”

”Thanks indeed, but our family really doesn’t need it. After all, the children are still young and affectionate, not even married for a year, what’s the rush? Oh, in your families, do your daughters-in-law get pregnant right after getting married?”

Everyone’s faces turned green.

Pregnant right after marriage, what does that mean?

Even without any ambiguity, among the nobility, it’s not uncommon to be married for years without conceiving!

Everyone awkwardly chuckled.

”At the Prince Dingbei’s Mansion, they may lack an heir, but this matter can’t be rushed. As long as the couple is loving and healthy, children will come eventually.” Song Ci smiled faintly: ”As for those mages and nuns, it’s not that I want to speak ill of them, but I truly don’t like such people.”

”As for why I dislike them, it’s because I think that having such people in the back courtyard leads to family chaos. Oh, there’s no need for you all to look troubled; this is just my personal opinion, not representative of everyone. If it sounds unpleasant, just consider it my old ramblings.”

Everyone: ”...”

Madam Fan smiled stiffly, saying: ”We were just chatting, it’s fine if you don’t like it, Madam.”

”Hmm, I was just listening, not taking it to heart, don’t worry.”

Madam Fan: ”...”

Can she take back her words?

”But speaking of which, Madam Fan, you praise this mage so highly, could it be that Princess Yan has good news?” Song Ci said with a wide smile: ”First came the happy news from Prince Zhou Mansion. If Prince Yan Mansion follows soon, the Empress Dowager might be doubly pleased.”

Someone lightly cleared their throat, covering the corners of their mouth with a handkerchief.

If Prince Yan Mansion had joyful news, it wouldn’t have stayed quiet until now, and Princess Yan is Madam Fan’s legitimate granddaughter.

Madam Song really knows how to hit where it hurts, her counterattack is quite toxic!

Look at Madam Fan’s expression as if she’s eaten something vile, just dreadful!

Madam Wei silently sipped her tea, avoiding speaking up, blaming herself for bringing up the matter first!

Song Ci pursed her lips and smiled faintly; both families’ children married around the same time, and still no news, so who stands taller with pride?

Come and let us hurt each other!

Madam Fan was about to speak when she saw Song Ci’s personal maid hastily approach and whisper something in her ear.

Song Ci’s expression subtly changed, and she stood up, saying: ”You continue eating, I’ll be right back.”

Everyone exchanged looks of confusion.

What happened?

A quarter of an hour later, Nanny Gong came over to this party, smiling and curtsying apologetically to everyone.

”Isn’t our dear sister alright?” Madam Wei asked.

Nanny Gong: ”It’s nothing, just that the Commandery Princess felt a bit unwell, and the maids didn’t convey it clearly, so the Madam was worried.”

Everyone felt a twinge of concern.

”What’s wrong with Commandery Princess Dongyang? Should we call an Imperial Physician?”

”It’s nothing major, just that a maid brought in a dish of steamed bass earlier, and the Princess felt uneasy at the smell and vomited quite badly.” Nanny Gong smiled like a chrysanthemum.

Fish, vomiting badly, yet smiling like that.

Everyone’s expressions suddenly became intriguing.

Someone smiled and asked: ”Oh, could it be that the Princess has good news?”

Nanny Gong smiled without answering, but her expression said it all: yes, they guessed right.

Madam Fan’s hand tightened, feeling more as if she swallowed something foul, just earlier suggesting introducing a mage, and now the good news comes from the other side.

Is this Prime Minister’s Mansion poisonous?
