The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 491: Chapter 491: The Sense of Nanny Rong Is Coming Again

The second branch of the Song Family joyfully welcomed a baby girl. As Song Ruqi was set to marry in May, to avoid the full moon banquet coinciding with her wedding, the Jiang family decided to host a grand celebration at the daughter’s ’washing three’ ceremony instead, postponing the full moon banquet until her first birthday.

When the news spread, although the Song Family’s second branch had another reason to celebrate, many people came to offer gifts. After all, this was the Prime Minister Song’s niece. Baby girls were already rare in the Song Family, and her birth was a cause for great pride.

Indeed, on the day of the ’washing three’ ceremony, the Song Family received many guests.

”Mother, you’ve been holding Yuanyuan for quite a while now. She’s quite heavy, you shouldn’t tire yourself out,” Jiang said to Song Ci with a smile.

Song Ci glanced at her, ”Though I may be old, I can still hold a little baby.”

However, her little granddaughter was indeed quite a handful, living up to her pet name Yuanyuan, with her chubby body all plump and round.

This old body was a bit strained, hands trembling, but I couldn’t admit it.

Off to the side, Nanny Gong noticed her slightly shaking hands and turned to Nanny Zhao of the Fourth Miss, saying, ”Madam, the ’washing three’ is about to start, and the nursemaid should feed the Fourth Miss first.”

Song Ci immediately handed the child to the nursemaid, thinking, oh my, thank goodness for Nanny Gong’s insight. Her hands were getting sore.

”I thought Grandmother would hold on the whole day and never let go,” Song Ruqian laughed, covering her mouth.

Song Ci said, ”Grandmother is old, and old people just love children, especially newborns.”

After all, they represent hope and vitality, even if they’re a bit hard to hold.

Jiang remarked, ”Yuanyuan is willing to be close to mother, she’s smiled at her several times.”

Her words were not just flattery, but carried a hint of envy.

She had longed for a daughter for so long, yet saw her smile more in Song Ci’s arms than her own, leaving her feeling quite jealous.

Song Ci boastfully replied, ”Of course, I am her real grandmother, she’s naturally close to me.”

Everyone naturally followed with a round of compliments.

”Madam, the auspicious time has arrived, and the guests are waiting outside, you may proceed to the ceremony,” Hong You reported cheerfully.

Song Ci stood up and quietly said to Jiang, ”Later, just stuff your ears with cotton, got it?”

Jiang: ”...”

Song Ci was referring to the ear-piercing part of the ceremony, fearing Jiang might feel the pain.

She naturally did feel pained, but also understood that some things, no matter how painful, needed to be adhered to, like ear piercing for a girl. Better now than when she’s older and even less willing.

Thus, long pain was better than short pain.

Jiang smiled and agreed.

Only then did Song Ci lead everyone outside, just like when she attended her great-granddaughter’s ceremony at the Gu Family, the scene and rituals were the same, only this time she was the one leading the celebration.

A pair of heavy gold plum blossom hairpins were placed into the gift tray, followed by others, including Madam Song.

Song Ci listened to Liu Wenpo’s string of auspicious words, her hands moving continuously, silently calculating the time in her mind, until the other party picked up the item on the small bench.

Here it comes, here it comes, the familiar feeling of Nanny Rong from the dramas again!

”No...”

Song Ci barely began to speak before Nanny Gong covered her mouth, her eyes wide with surprise.

This old maid had such audacity!

The little granddaughter cried loudly from being pierced, yet the ceremony was completed quickly.

Watching her whimpering in the nursemaid’s arms, Song Ci’s heart ached terribly. Darned ancient customs!
