The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 463: Chapter 463: There is Something Off About This Person

Song Ci could finally go out, even if it meant she had to be shameless about it.

”I’m just going out to buy some herbs, you really don’t need to follow me.” Lin Qing looked somewhat helplessly at the elderly lady.

When people are sickly, they lie around like they’re on the brink of death, but when they’re full of energy, they become like mischievous old children, very cheeky and stubborn.

”How could I not? The kidnapper gang hasn’t been caught yet. Ah Qing, you’ve got such a fine appearance, pure as jade, what if some bad people target you? I can’t bear to lose such a first-rate doctor like you.” Song Ci said with a grin, ”So, let me protect you.”

Lin Qing chuckled in exasperation, ”You protect me? What about those guards then, what are you implying?”

She pointed to a line of guards from the Prime Minister’s Mansion.

Song Ci glanced at them and whispered, ”They can’t follow you everywhere, can they? Like when you go to the restroom.”

Lin Qing: ”...”

This was getting ridiculous.

Forget it.

Lin Qing shook her head and headed towards the Thousand Medicine Hall. Behind her, Song Ci was still muttering, ”Don’t dismiss it; it takes less than a minute to abduct someone, especially delicate young ladies. Just a sack over the head, a lift on the shoulder, and they vanish.”

Ah, save me, she’s turning into a female Tang Monk.

Lin Qing and Song Ci entered the medicine hall one after the other.

At the time, there weren’t many people in the medicine hall, just one attendant sorting herbs, and a doctor sitting in consultation.

It was Song Ci’s first time in the medicine hall, and the mixed scent of herbs was invigorating. Against the wall stood wooden cabinets with many small drawers labeled and stuffed with medicinal ingredients.

Lin Qing was evidently a regular here, and as soon as she walked in, the attendant greeted her.

”Xiao Xian, do you know if the herbs I ordered have arrived?” Lin Qing asked with a smile.

The attendant called Xiao Xian replied, ”They’ve arrived already, hold on, I’ll get them for you.”

Lin Qing nodded, and Song Ci came over, saying, ”Looks like you’re already well-acquainted here.”

”The herbs here are quite affordable, and many ordinary folks come here too.” Meaning, it was a genuine traditional medicine hall.

Song Ci understood.

Bang.

The two of them were startled and looked over to the doctor in consultation.

The elderly doctor looked somewhat pale at the burly man in front of him, yet tried to maintain his composure, saying, ”Why are you like this? I kindly told you to bring your child for a proper pulse diagnosis before prescribing medicine. Otherwise, if I prescribe randomly and give the wrong dosage, and it harms the child, wouldn’t that give you grounds to extort me?”

”I said the child hit his head and got a fever, he’s about five years old. Can’t you understand plain speech? Just prescribe, and if he dies, I won’t blame you.”

”You’re being utterly unreasonable.”

”Will you prescribe or not?”

Song Ci and Lin Qing exchanged a glance, this guy seemed fishy.

Lin Qing stepped forward and asked, ”Doctor Cheng, what’s going on?”

Doctor Cheng, upon seeing her, recounted the situation, ”At our Thousand Medicine Hall, we’ve always believed in prescribing the right medicine after examining the symptoms. That’s how we’re responsible to patients, but he thinks I’m just making things difficult.”

Lin Qing gave the burly man a look and gently said, ”Brother, Doctor Cheng is right, you really should bring your son over. Matching the medicine to the disease is the proper way.”

The man’s eyes shifted evasively, ”Your medicine hall is just troublesome, I won’t buy medicine from you anymore. Is there no other medicine hall in the entire capital?”

He stormed off in a rage, glancing at Song Ci as he passed.

Song Ci whispered something to Nanny, who was momentarily taken aback before heading out.
