The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 248: Chapter 248: Reserved Qi 3

When Qi Zhen arrived at the main courtyard, he paused at the door, pulled his collar, and dusted off non-existent dust from his clothes.

Liu Feng, who was a few steps behind him, saw this and secretly despised him, thinking that for all his tough talk, wasn’t he still nervous?

As expected, the great truth that what one says they don’t want actually means they want, holds true.

See, isn’t it being demonstrated right in front of his master?

”Madam, Third Master has come to wish you a happy birthday.”

The Duchess of the Duke immediately beamed and said to Song Ci and the others, ”My third son, usually he’s either on duty or in the Practice Hall. It’s almost impossible to see him. But today, on my birthday, I get to see him.”

Song Ci replied diplomatically, ”It’s a good thing that the child is promising. He’s young and already holds a Fourth Rank position - truly promising for his age. You and Lord Duke have raised him well.”

Madam Song also said, ”Indeed. I truly envy you, Madam.”

The Duchess was somewhat smug, thinking that this lady from Prime Minister Song’s household isn’t particularly coarse or rude, and her compliments have some level.

Just as a servant announced Qi San’s arrival, Song Ruqi had already stood up and moved to stand beside Madam Song, her head lowered, trying to remain calm.

The door darkened as a tall figure blocked the light from outside. Soon, someone stepped in with heavy, strong footsteps.

”I, your son, wish peace to Mother and hope you enjoy health like Nanshan, year after year of well-being.”

Qi San’s voice reached Song Ruqi’s ears, clear and bright, making her heart race like a drum.

Looking from beneath her lashes, she only saw a pair of brown-black leather boots, without intricate patterns, only embroidered with cloud motifs.

His feet are so big!

The Duchess smiled and said, ”You are thoughtful. You’re unseen throughout the day, and finally, I get to see you. Oh, here is the Madam and Lady from the Song Prime Minister’s house, go and greet them too.”

Qi Zhen then looked towards Song Ci, and first greeted her respectfully with clasped hands.

Song Ci received a wallet from Nanny’s hands and handed it over, ”Such a spirited young man, a small meeting gift, take it to play.”

Not only spirited but also powerful; his face was hard and stern, not easy to provoke.

Qi Zhen took it, nonchalantly stuffed it into his sleeve, and respectfully thanked her.

He then greeted Madam Song, his gaze quickly falling on the young woman standing beside her.

The petite woman stood a step behind the chair, her head slightly bowed, not easily revealing her face, showing only a delicate, pointed chin with very fair skin.

Perhaps his gaze was too intense, Song Ruqi couldn’t help but quickly glance at him, seeing his brazen stare at her, her rosy face instantly flushed.

Qi San, too impertinent!

Though the two are to be engaged, how can he examine her so unabashedly?

But Qi Zhen thought, one must at least see whether the future wife is round or flat, ugly or pretty.

Song Ruqi quickly glared at him, then lowered her head again.

Qi Zhen: ”...”

This girl’s eyes are so round, and that face seems smaller than my palm, afraid it would break with a pinch?

If Song Ruqi knew what he was thinking, she might spit out a mouthful of hot blood, thinking marrying a wife meant pinching her face hard?

Madam Song naturally noticed Qi Zhen’s gaze too and instinctively exchanged a glance with the Duchess, with an understanding look in both their eyes.

After seeing everyone, the room filled with ladies, Qi Zhen didn’t linger. He just said he would help greet the guests and then excused himself to leave.

He walked a few steps, stopped again, looked in Song Ruqi’s direction, and said, ”My name is Qi Zhen.”

Everyone: ”...”

Song Ci: So he’s just a repressed romantic!
