The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 247: Chapter 247 Qi 3: In the servant’s words, I have aged!

If there was anything that the Madam of Duke Ying Mansion was worried about, it was the marriage of her second son. Two engagements had been set, but both potential brides passed away before the wedding, which undeniably seemed ominous.

Therefore, regarding the rumors outside claiming that her second son, no, her third son, was fated to bring misfortune to his wives due to his destined loneliness and tough fate, she had long heard of these but could not dispel them. After all, no matter how much you say, the facts remain, leaving no room for rebuttal.

The Madam of Duke Ying Mansion simply chose not to speak of it, yet was particularly troubled by the marriage affairs of Qi San. The search for a bride was lowered again and again, but either the other party was afraid, or Qi San was unwilling.

And so it dragged on until now.

At present, the Emperor intended to arrange a marriage, which was a tremendous blessing. There was no longer a need to be bothered with looking at potential brides or meeting them. The Madam of Duke Ying Mansion even felt a sense of relief, as if finally solving her eldest son’s difficult marriage situation.

She was grateful for the Emperor’s gracious favor.

The only slight dissatisfaction was that the future daughter-in-law’s status was a bit too high, even higher than her biological son Qi Rui’s wife, fearing that it might be difficult to control in the future.

However, considering that the Song Family had only risen to prominence in recent decades, how could they compare to the immense presence of the Duke Mansion?

No matter what, she could not believe she wouldn’t be able to manage a young girl.

The pressing matter was to first settle the marriage for Qi San, bring the bride home, then the rumors of him fated to bring misfortune to wives would naturally fall apart.

Hence, the Madam of Duke Ying Mansion looked at Song Ruqi with exceptional enthusiasm, summoned her to come, scrutinized her closely, and was quite satisfied in her heart.

”Such a good child, your future husband will be fortunate,” the Madam of Duke Ying Mansion said with a smile, sliding a jade bracelet of excellent quality from her hand onto Song Ruqi’s wrist, ”It’s nothing special, just wear it for fun.”

Not far away, Madam Xiao Liao saw the emerald bracelet on Song Ruqi’s wrist, her eyelid twitched, filled with both jealousy and heartache, lightly biting her lip.

She had long coveted her mother’s bracelet, yet it ended up on a young girl’s wrist. Thinking of this girl’s status, she gritted her teeth even more.

Once Song Ruqi entered the mansion, among the daughters-in-law of the legitimate sons, her status would be the lowest.

Song Ruqi blushed deeply and said, ”Madam, this is too valuable; I cannot accept it.”

”When an elder gives, one should not decline. It’s just a bracelet; how valuable could it be? It complements your skin perfectly,” the Madam of Duke Ying Mansion said with a smile. ”This child, I also like very much; it’s just a small meeting gift, and you must not refuse.”

Song Ruqi had no choice but to look at her own mother, saw her nod, and then curtsied to express her thanks.

The Madam of Duke Ying Mansion then pulled her aside to ask a few questions while casually nodding to her trusted aide, who then withdrew and sent someone to deliver a message.

In Songtao Court of the Duke Mansion, in the main room, a young servant and a maid were holding several sets of clothing, preparing for their master to dress.

”Third Master, people from the Song Family have already arrived. Please get dressed quickly. I think this set of azure long robes looks very spirited,” Liu Feng, the servant, looked eagerly at his master, both excited and anxious.

This is a matchmaking event. One must leave a good impression on the Song family young lady, and on top of that, there are these whiskers stubble.

”Third Master, you should first shave these whiskers,” he suggested.

Qi Zhen replied coolly, ”What whiskers are there to shave? I’ve already shaven them. It’s just meeting someone; why all this fuss? Besides, it’s the Emperor arranging the marriage, so whether we meet or not, it’s irrelevant.”

”Third Master, the Song family young lady just reached marriageable age this winter. You’re already much older than her, and if you don’t tidy up, you’ll look even more mature and old-fashioned,” Liu Feng was quite worried about his master.

Qi Zhen: ”...”

Him, old?
