The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 204: Chapter 204 Madam Wei’s Request

The Wei Family also has an estate nearby, not far from the Song Family. In fact, the estates in this area all belong to the gentry of the capital because it’s very close to Songshan Temple, practically at the foot of the mountain.

Song Ci woke up from an afternoon nap, and the Old Madam Wei brought her granddaughters along, including Wang Qiuman.

”Old sister, I’ve come to bother you again,” the Old Madam Wei said with a hearty laugh.

Song Ci held her hand and said, ”It’s been days since we last met. How is your health?”

”Thanks to your blessing, I eat well and sleep soundly.”

”That’s good.” Song Ci secretly breathed a sigh of relief. She was worried that the previous matchmaking would fail, hurting the honor and relationship between the two families, and that this time Madam Wei would feel uncomfortable meeting her.

But now seeing that Old Madam Wei showed no sign of discomfort, she knew that she was overthinking things.

Song Ci looked at Wang Qiuman and saw her smiling without any sign of embarrassment, nodding to herself in approval, thinking she too had a broad mind.

”Now that we’re at the estate, we should walk around. Sitting indoors is no fun. I see the sunlight outside has dimmed a bit. How about we take a stroll outside?” Song Ci invited with a smile.

Old Madam Wei didn’t object.

After drinking tea, the group wandered idly around the estate.

Song Ci and Old Madam Wei strolled leisurely with their trusted nannies holding umbrellas for them, while the young misses of the Wei family, in the absence of Song Ci’s granddaughters, played in the estate with their maidservants from afar.

”Why didn’t your second granddaughter come? I thought she would come so my girls would have some company,” Old Madam Wei asked.

Song Ci pursed her lips, ”She’s being kept by her mother to learn household management.”

”Why, have they arranged a match for her?” Old Madam Wei inquired.

Song Ci shook her head, ”Not yet, that’s something her parents ought to worry about, not me. But you should know, once winter sets in, our second granddaughter will be of age, so an engagement isn’t far off.”

Old Madam Wei sighed lightly, ”I originally thought your family would have a Prince Consort, but who would have imagined? Did you know that the old grump of the Li Family is boasting so much, almost flying, always putting others down to elevate themselves, tsk.”

Song Ci: ”The Li Family? That Li Family where the concubine’s daughter used to run around our house, they’re flaunting now, but that incident was quite embarrassing for them.”

Old Madam Wei let out a chuckle, ”Isn’t it them? You wouldn’t know, she even talks about it, saying the Emperor values families with strict rules, claiming their Li Family is the most courteous, with propriety above all. I just don’t get it, calling it propriety when it meant forcing a granddaughter into a nunnery?”

Song Ci, having heard that the Li Family indeed sent the concubine’s daughter to the temple, couldn’t help but sneer, ”Whether they are truly the most courteous can be seen when the heir is decided in the future.”

Old Madam Wei exchanged a glance with her, both seeming to find it amusing.

Isn’t that right, the Li Family talks about rules, and Li, the Chief of Staff, says to make the legitimate heir the firstborn. With a Third Prince as a son-in-law, let’s see how they talk about these rules.

”Let’s not talk about this dull stuff.” Song Ci glanced back and asked in a low voice, ”Has Qiuman’s matter really been discussed?”

This trip to Songshan Temple, besides listening to sermons, was also meant for matchmaking Wang Qiuman.

Old Madam Wei nodded, ”Both families are interested, it’s up to the children to see if they fancy each other. If they do, we must settle it quickly, the child isn’t young anymore.”

Song Ci felt a bit guilty and said, ”She will certainly encounter a good match. She’s a good girl, just that my son has no luck! But don’t worry, when she gets married, I’ll definitely add to her trousseau.”

Old Madam Wei smiled and said, ”Thank you in advance, old sister. These things depend on fate, it’s no one’s fault, but when the time comes, could you help me weigh in?”
