The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 221: Chapter 221 Commandery Princess Does Not Have the Capital to be Wilful

Commandery Princess Dongyang visited the Song Family’s estate.

Not to mention outsiders couldn’t see through it, even the personal guard Yuan Yi didn’t quite understand why the Princess was so tolerant and close to the Song Family.

If you don’t understand, just ask; this was Yuan Yi’s usual approach.

Niu Pan’er retorted, ”Don’t you think the people of the Song Family are quite interesting?”

Yuan Yi: ”...”

Forgive his poor eyesight, he really didn’t see anything interesting, especially that pampered young man Song Si, who was entirely ignorant and arrogant.

Niu Pan’er smiled, ”I find it quite interesting, and their eyes are clear and pure.”

Yuan Yi was taken aback.

”Whether it’s Madam Song or Song Si, when they look at me, their eyes are very clean, without any ulterior motives. In their eyes, I’m not some superior Commandery Princess, but just a girl from a good family. There is no calculation in their eyes.” Niu Pan’er picked a wildflower and played with it in her hand, ”Yuan Yi, in the eyes of the world, when they look at the Prince Dingbei’s Mansion, there’s either calculation to curry favor or a respectful distance, always with something in their eyes. But not with Madam Song and Song Si.”

Currently, Niu Pan’er is the sole heir of the Prince Dingbei’s Mansion. She’s not foolish; she knows what many admire about the Prince Dingbei’s Mansion. Since she was young, countless people have flattered her, and even when she returned to the capital and attended a couple of banquets, she saw a lot of flattering glances and private discussions.

Some people outwardly praise her, but in private, they disdain her.

Whereas when Song Ci and others look at her, it’s pure admiration and affection, or straightforward disdain, but this disdain only makes her feel amused and joyful.

Niu Pan’er admits, she particularly enjoys seeing Song Si’s face of disapproval mixed with frustration, which simply entertains her.

Precisely because of this, she finds it rare and wants to get closer.

Song Zhiyu: So this is how you are, the Commandery Princess with a peculiar sense of humor.

Yuan Yi hesitated for a moment and said, ”But Princess, that’s still the household of the Prime Minister’s Mansion.”

Prime Minister Song is a Civil Servant, and a top-tier one at that, holding immense power, whereas the Prince Dingbei’s Mansion belongs to Military Generals, wielding military power.

If these two families were to become closely intertwined, it might unsettle certain figures, who, if unsettled, would make things difficult for both the Song Family and the Prince Dingbei’s Mansion.

There’s no helping it; this is reality.

Niu Pan’er paused, pursed her lips, her heart tightened, and a trace of bitterness flashed in her eyes.

After a long while, her voice sounded again, ”Yuan Yi, can’t I associate with people I like and feel comfortable with? Even if our identities conflict?”

Yuan Yi didn’t respond, just sighed.

Being unable to act freely is something many of noble families experience, simply because of their status and position.

Reality, it is cruel.

As the sole heir of the Prince Dingbei’s Mansion, the Commandery Princess cannot afford the luxury of willfulness.

After Yuan Yi said this, Niu Pan’er’s pleasant mood from visiting the estate dropped significantly, and she returned to her courtyard with a downcast demeanor, without even greeting Song Zhiyu.

Song Zhiyu found it odd; she was fine when they arrived at the estate, but suddenly she became like a withered eggplant?

”What happened to your Princess? Bullied? That’s unlikely, right? Who would dare bully her?” Song Zhiyu asked the black-faced guard.

Yuan Yi glared at him, look, such a clueless fool, what’s so interesting about him?

The Princess is clearly blinded.

Song Zhiyu watched as the black-faced guard left, cut him off, and remarked, like master, like servant, look at him being so arrogant.

Remembering the events of the day, he quickly went to report to Song Ci.
