The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 230: Chapter 230 The Human Flesh Skynet Is Everywhere

Niu Pan’er was invited to the Song Family’s estate, and the news quickly spread among the noble circles. Naturally, with some manipulation, it also reached the palace.

Emperor Chu paused his calligraphy brush, listening somewhat astonished to the report from the person below.

”Commandery Princess Dongyang and Madam Song? When did the two of them start having connections?”

Emperor Chu was surprised. In his memory, the last time Commandery Princess Dongyang returned to the capital, she seemed to be only eleven or twelve years old, right?

Back then, Song Ci rarely went out and didn’t even know her. Suddenly, how did they start interacting and getting along so well?

”It should be because of the fourth master of the Song Family, Song Zhiyu. When Commandery Princess Dongyang first returned to the capital, she saved him after he was thrown from a startled horse. It’s said that the Song Family sent a gift of thanks. This time, on her way to Songshan Temple, Madam Song happened to meet the Commandery Princess. They had tea at a tea stall and chatted for a while, and the next meeting was at Songshan Temple, where Madam Song invited the Commandery Princess to the estate for leisure.” The Dragon Guard kneeling on the ground replied.

Emperor Chu raised an eyebrow.

”What did they talk about?”

When the Emperor wants to know something, there are always those who will investigate. The Dragon Guard doesn’t wait for the master to ask before probing; they report any conversation they can find.

If Song Ci were here, he’d probably jump up in shock and exclaim: ”The human surveillance enigma is everywhere!”

After listening to the whole chain of events, Emperor Chu waved his hand to dismiss the Dragon Guard and picked up his huge wolf-hair brush again.

Eunuch Zhou, the great eunuch by his side, cleverly replaced the paper for him.

”Zhou Ye, have you ever had such an experience where someone felt like an old friend on the first meeting?” Emperor Chu lowered his head and asked lightly.

Eunuch Zhou’s heart jolted, and he smiled as he replied, ”Since entering the palace as a eunuch many years ago, I’ve had two or three lads who’ve felt like that. Among them is my apprentice, Little Yongzi. At first glance, he reminded me of myself when I first entered the palace, so I’ve taken special care of him.”

Emperor Chu didn’t respond.

”Commandery Princess Dongyang and Madam Song come from vastly different backgrounds, yet they clicked so well that it surprised me a bit. Meeting only a couple of times and already inviting each other to visit, that’s a deep connection indeed.”

Anyone who becomes a great eunuch beside the Emperor is a savvy person. When Eunuch Zhou heard Emperor Chu’s casual remark, a chill swept over his heart.

Pretending not to understand, he replied with a smile, ”That’s indeed extraordinary. From how I see it, Madam Song must regard the Commandery Princess as a savior.”

”Oh?”

”Didn’t the Commandery Princess save Song Zhiyu? You see, Song Zhiyu is neither literary nor martial, as Prime Minister Song would say, like a weak chicken. Without the Commandery Princess’s rescue, he might have been injured under the horse’s hooves.” Eunuch Zhou said, ”Common folk adore their youngest sons, and Madam Song surely feels much gratitude for the Commandery Princess’s intervention.”

Song Zhiyu: A weak chicken? When I get strong, I can piss through walls. Can you, you stinky eunuch?

Emperor Chu chuckled softly at Eunuch Zhou’s explanation.

Eunuch Zhou cautiously glanced at him and added, ”Also, there’s something else I suspect, but I dare not say.”

”What dare you not say? I will forgive you without blame.”

Eunuch Zhou offered thanks, and then said, ”Your Majesty might not know this, but many madams in the capital don’t actually think highly of either the Commandery Princess or Madam Song.”

The air around Emperor Chu grew cold.

”Regarding the Commandery Princess, they disdain her because despite being a legitimate daughter, she mingles with men, disregarding proper conduct and the virtues expected of women, with crude behaviors. As for Madam Song, she’s looked down upon for being a mere peasant wife who gained wealth suddenly, yet doesn’t understand manners or decorum, with vulgar words and actions.” Eunuch Zhou cautiously said, ”I wonder if it is because of these snubs that the two feel such an affinity, forming a cross-generational friendship?”
