The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 172: Chapter 172: The Unlucky One Is Not Easy to Fool Anymore

Cining Palace rear garden.

Wan Yongnian ran up to the skinny little boy, Wang Yongping. He looked at his indigo long robe embroidered with the character for ”fortune,” the small boots he wore, and the longevity lock hanging around his neck, and couldn’t help but curl his lip, suppressing a deep-seated envy.

Once a dirty, orphaned little beggar, now suddenly transformed into a little nobleman?

This should have been his. If he had been the one adopted, the one dressed in tribute satin, wearing the gold lock, surrounded and served by attendants, would have been him.

Why should it be this damned Wang Yongping?

”Wang Yongping, come over here to me.”

Wan Yicheng instinctively took a step back, pursing his lips as he looked at this chubby boy who called him by his original name. He remembered him, having bullied him along with his cousin’s son, making him act as a horse for them to ride.

”Young Master Wan, do not be impolite.” Lian Xin stepped forward, looking at Wan Yongnian blandly, and said, ”You scared the little marquis.”

Little marquis?

Wan Yongnian blurted out instinctively, ”He’s still a little marquis, and I...”

His gaze met Lian Xin’s eyes. His heart skipped a beat, and he lowered his head, stepping back: ”Aunt, please forgive me. I just saw Brother Ping and missed him so much that I couldn’t help myself.”

Lian Xin gave a faint smile but did not respond.

Wan Yongnian glanced at her, then said to Wan Yicheng with a smile, ”Brother Ping, I’m Brother Nian, don’t you remember? Come here, I’ll treat you to some sweets, and we can have a chat.”

Wan Yicheng looked at Lian Xin, who said, ”If the little marquis wishes to go, it’s alright.”

She was the aunt responsible for taking care of Wan Yicheng, but she also had her own considerations. The Lady wanted a heir who wasn’t spineless or weak.

Lian Xin led a few palace maids and eunuchs to retreat a few meters back, neither too far nor too close, yet able to hear what they were saying.

Wan Yongnian took Wan Yicheng by the hand to walk a few steps, only to have it shaken off, making him furious. The brat had turned the tables and dared to shake off his hand.

”Brother Ping, are you not acknowledging your brother anymore?” Wan Yongnian took out two sweets from his wallet and stuffed them into his hand, saying, ”Here, I brought them into the palace just for you. Haven’t you always been fond of dragon whisker candy?”

Wan Yicheng glanced down at the sweets in his hand and said, ”Thank you, but I’m no longer called Brother Ping. From now on, my full name is Wan Yicheng, the heir of the fourth branch.”

Wan Yongnian looked at the distant palace attendants, lowered his voice, and said, ”You claim to be an heir? That’s not something you can be. Do you believe that you’ll die? No one can fill that role, and if you do, someone will definitely kill you. You’d better tell the Empress Dowager that you don’t want the role and want to return home. I can arrange for my grandmother to adopt you to Uncle’s Mansion, and we can be real brothers.”

Wan Yicheng’s face turned pale: ”Who will kill me?”

Wan Yongnian’s eyes dodged as he said, ”Anyway, it’s someone. Besides, if you become the heir, in the future who will offer incense to your parents and grandparents? The seventh branch will have no one left. How can you abandon your parents and grandparents for riches and honor? That’s highly unfilial.”

”No, I will still pay my respects during holidays. The Empress Dowager has already agreed to that. In the future, I will also arrange for a child to be returned to the small seventh branch. You can’t scare me.” Wan Yicheng said, looking up. At most, in the future, when he marries, he’ll choose someone who can bear lots of children.

”You think I’m trying to scare you? Why would I bother? I was only thinking of your benefit.” Wan Yongnian was so furious that his whole body was shaking.

”For my benefit? You just want me not to take the position so that you can have it instead!” Wan Yicheng exposed him without hesitation.

Wan Yongnian: ”...”

Damn, even the little misfortune is not easy to fool anymore.
