The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 160: Chapter 160 Empress Dowager Wang: I’m Jealous

Empress Dowager Wang looked over curiously, seeing that in Song Ci’s palm was a hand-sized piece of candy wrapped in colorful paper, looking very appealing.

Hmm, she wanted to eat it too.

Even adults would feel tempted by this colorful candy wrapper, not to mention a child. Wan Yicheng couldn’t help but stretch out his hands to catch those candies, and they smelled sweet and fragrant.

He looked up at Song Ci and asked, ”Madam, is this really for me?”

”Yes, it’s all for you. But you’re still young, so you can only eat two pieces a day, no more. Otherwise, your teeth will rot. Oh, and you must brush your teeth before going to bed at night, or else bugs will drill holes in your teeth, and you’ll cry.”

Empress Dowager: ”...”

The imagery was so vivid, it gave her goosebumps.

Wan Yicheng’s little face also turned slightly pale with fright: ”Will bugs bite if I eat candy?”

”If you eat too much and don’t brush your teeth, bugs will cause cavities. So, to prevent bugs, you must brush your teeth morning and night,” Song Ci said with a smile.

Wan Yicheng nodded, ”I will listen to Madam; I will definitely brush my teeth seriously from now on.”

”Don’t keep calling me Madam, just call me Grandma.” It’s tiring to hear.

Wan Yicheng cautiously glanced at Empress Dowager and whispered, ”Grandma.”

”Ah, good child.” Song Ci rubbed his head and said, ”Go play with Aunt Lian Xin.”

Wan Yicheng placed the candy into his small wallet, bowed to Empress Dowager and Song Ci, and only then obediently left holding the Palace Maid’s hand.

As soon as he left, Empress Dowager couldn’t wait to say, ”You still have a way about you. It’s the first time he met you, and he said so much and even called you Grandma.”

The tone had a hint of acidity.

Song Ci: ”Madam, do you mean to say the child is afraid of you?”

”It’s not just fear. The first time this boy saw me, he fainted right away. Anyone who didn’t know might think I was a man-eating tiger, seeing how scared he was.” Empress Dowager pouted, ”I didn’t even say anything. I even handed him some pastries.”

Offering the same treats, how did Song Ci manage to be called Grandma?

Empress Dowager admitted she was a bit jealous.

This is the perfect time for flattery!

Song Ci smiled and said, ”Ordinary folks who see the emperor’s face might be so excited and afraid that they faint without daring to raise their heads. By the same logic, the child, upon seeing your esteemed face, is naturally both excited and terrified. He’s only a few years old and has never seen such a great and noble person suddenly before. Not fearing would be strange.”

Empress Dowager laughed in mock anger, ”Are you comforting me, or flattering me?”

”Whatever you think it is,” Song Ci continued.

”You rascal!” Empress Dowager playfully pointed at her, laughing heartily, ”This is the Song Ci I know.”

Song Ci grinned and brought the topic back to the child, asking, ”Madam, is it settled that this child will be the one? How old is he? He seems to have had a tough time before. That scar in his palm—is it a knife scar?”

Empress Dowager sipped her tea and sighed, ”Apart from this child, there’s no better choice. He’s from a collateral branch of the family and is within the five degrees of mourning. Both parents died early, so he followed a cousin uncle. Not being his real family, what kind of life would that be? He often went hungry, eating one meal and missing another. Otherwise, why would a six-year-old look like a skinny four or five-year-old? Oh, the scar on his hand is from a knife. It’s said that when visiting relatives with his parents, they encountered bandits. He grabbed the bandit’s thrusting dagger with his bare hands to survive.”
