The Valued Lady is Truly Dominant

Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Re-entering the Palace, Madam’s Request

Song Ci knew that someone was talking about her; look, the Empress Dowager summoned her to the palace again!

Oh no, it must be about that matter of the heir.

Perhaps the Empress Dowager has already found a suitable child and is notifying her to bring them back!

What a headache!

”This isn’t a palace banquet, no need to wear that Imperial Decree Clothes and the golden crown, right?” Song Ci looked pitifully at the palace nanny.

She once saw that kind of phoenix crown in a museum and thought wearing it would be mighty; now that she’s experienced it, it’s mighty indeed, but what a burden on the neck.

The palace nanny smiled and said, ”No need for grand attire, but you do need to wear formal clothing.”

Song Ci sighed in relief and hurriedly said, ”That’s good, no need for excessive jewelry, just wear a headband, tidy up the bun, and wear two green jade hairpins, not gold ones.”

Her jewelry, many gold pieces are solid, terribly heavy.

”All according to your wishes.”

Hongtao chimed in from the side, ”Madam seems to have lost her fondness for gold ware; you always said gold jewelry holds value the best.”

The palace nanny frowned, glancing at Hongtao.

Song Ci said, ”Actually, it’s all valuable, but didn’t I climb up from the bottom? I was accustomed to poverty back then. People like us common folk only see gold as the most secure, even now. There’s no choice; common folks have a small-farmers mentality. Besides, gold can be exchanged for silver, can buy a lot of things, never without market value.”

Hongtao seemed to realize her faux pas and quickly knelt, ”This servant spoke out of turn, please Madam punish me.”

Song Ci helped her up, ”What’s worth punishing you for, it’s all truths. I still like gold now, just like it for itself, no need to wear it all over like a walking gold mine. Wouldn’t that be exhausting, and attract thieves? Imagine, if I’m all golden and shiny, if not robbing me, who else? Blindingly bright!”

Pffft.

The few present burst into laughter.

Song Ci laughed herself; she liked gold, it represented money, the more the better.

The sister-in-law of the Li Family responsible for Song Ci’s hairdo laughed and said, ”Madam is becoming more and more humorous.”

”Indeed, this servant says, no one is more generous than our Madam.” Hongtao quickly chimed in with flattery.

Song Ci laughed, ”You all have sweet tongues, fine then, later I’ll ask the Empress Dowager to bestow some palace treats, let you all have a taste.”

Everyone hastily knelt to express their gratitude.

It was at this moment that Madam Song walked in, laughing, she gave Song Ci a bow and said, ”Mother, the carriage is ready.”

”Thank you for your hard work.”

”It’s the duty of a daughter-in-law. If the Empress Dowager hadn’t summoned only you, I should have accompanied you to the palace.” Madam Song thought for a moment and said, ”Why not let Qi’er accompany you? She could be of service.”

Song Ci was taken aback.

”Take the second girl?”

Madam Song felt a bit warm-hearted, ”What do you think?”

Even if she can’t become a Prince Consort, if she catches the eye of the Empress Dowager, she might be granted a good marriage connection!

Moreover, to be favored by the Empress Dowager, that’s a significant honor; who knows, she might become a Princess!

Song Ci looked at her, thinking whether this eldest daughter-in-law was provoked by some maid or something, why suggest this? Bringing a granddaughter into the palace without a decree, is she foolish?

Moreover, didn’t her savvy eldest son tell her that Song Family girls aren’t to enter the Imperial Family?

The palace nanny was also somewhat astonished, what’s this sudden blunder by Madam? She’s not such a person.

Madam Song felt her face heating under the gaze, also a bit regretful, awkwardly she said, ”The daughter-in-law just thought someone should look after you.”
